Probably my most consistent ball-striking round of the year. 9 pars which is the most I've ever had in a single round. Missed 3 birdie putts under 10 feet which was disappointing. Unfortunately also 3 doubles, which ruined any chance of breaking 80 for the first time. Moving in the right direction though, swing felt much more fluid, wasn't overswinging.

Sounds like a round I had last year. Shot +1 37 on the front. Ball was going exactly where I wanted it to and the putts were dropping. Thought I was going to break 80 for sure... followed it up with a 45 on the back.

It's funny - had the front and back nine been reversed, I would have been walking on air, instead I felt like crap after the round even though it was my lowest score ever.

Still - nice job, keep the focus on how you played on the front! Shows you can do it so it's definitely something to build on.

Pretty lackluster overall. Started putting a bit better later in the round. Hurt my same wrist I have had problems with for over a year. Was good for the last two months, not now. Happened on a routine 54* wedge shot from the fairway. I didn't hit anything below the ground, just bent it wrong. Shot was good too. So I have that to look forward to with the upcoming member/guest. 18 tomorrow, 18 wed, 18 thurs, 18 fri and 9 sat coming up.

Last round before member-guest so I am due to shoot an 86 to start that out. Eagle was on a 476y against the wind hole. Good drive and a really good 3w from 226 dead into the wind to 15 feet. Eagle #4 or 5 on the year.

Had a nice casual 2 hour 10 minute round of cart path only lawn darts. Course was really wet but my home course gets very very easy when it is that wet, much easier to hit the 20-25 yard wide fairways. Golf is easier when it is pick number, hit to number and watch the ball stop exactly where it lands. Got greedy on 18 needing a birdie for 69 and ended up in the trees and could barely get to the front of the green and 3 jacked from 60 feet.

Practice round for member guest with cash games for gross and net. We shot 78 gross and 71 net. My partner is an 8.3. We used 2 of his holes and we tied 2 holes. My back hurts.

Hit a lot of irons and hybrids off the tee so the FIR show it. Didn't strike the ball great early but picked it up on the back. 7 GIRs on the back. Greens were running FAST. I think they cut and at least single rolled them. They were running a full 2-3 feet faster than Sunday. I'm also lucky to only have 38 putts as I rolled in a number of 5-10 foot comeback putts.

Highlight of the day was the lone driver I hit on the same hole I eagled Sunday. Had 4 iron into the green to 15 feet. Missed the slider for a tap-in.

Real deal starts tomorrow with 2 9-hole matches. We are sitting at the top of the second flight. Everybody but 2 people in my flight will be getting shots off of my handicap.

Walked 18 in 2 hours 15 minutes. Was playing alone so won't count for the cap but played well.

Sadly winter is coming and I will be back sucking after a few months off.

Day 1 of the matches.

37 - 6 pars, 1 birdie, 2 bogeys
7/7 FIR, 3/9 GIR, 13 putts (no 3-putts)

We ended up halving our match 4.5 to 4.5. My partner who gets 10 on my course (5 a side) shot 40. We shot 35 gross. My irons were wonky but my chipping and putting were pretty good.

41 - 1 birdie, 4 pars, 2 bogeys, 2 doubles
5/7 FIR. 4/9 GIR, 16 putts (no 3-putts)

We lost 5.5 to 3.5. Partner shot 42 and we shot a 38 gross. My lone birdie was on a 480y par 5 where I had 7 iron in. Unfortunately our opponent (who also won the long drive contest today) hit 9 iron or wedge into in and made eagle.

We are only 2.5 points out of first but the team we just lost to is in the lead. Overall I was really happy with how I played today, especially in the am match. Only hit 3 drivers all day, a lot of 4 irons and a few 3 woods.

Day 2 Matches

39 - Ended up losing the match 6-3. We didn't do a lot right and were trounced. I was actually surprised I shot that well.

44 - Won our match 5-4. We ham and egged it well. Too far out to make a run in the final match tomorrow unless I go out and shoot 33 and we win 9-0.

Day 3 Match

42 - 2 birdies, 1 par, 4 bogeys, 2 doubles
3/7 FIR, 4/9 GIR, 17 putts (3 3-putts)

Ended up winning the final match 5.5 to 3.5. Went for it a little more today and the wild scoring showed it. We shot 38 gross. Probably our worst 9-hole match but we pulled the most points out of it. Highlight of the day was playing a par 5 a little different by hitting 4 iron off the tee followed by a 3-wood that just hit the top of the bunker in front of the green. Was able to get up and down.

Overall we finished in 4th out of 6 in our flight with 21.5 points (out of a possible 45). Including the practice round I ended up making 7 birdies in 63 holes which isn't too bad in competition.

Next tourney is Golf Channel Am Tour event in 2 weeks followed by the club championship.

I keep waiting for an awful round but hasn't happened and have been playing well. Will probably happen in the next round that means something. Hit 2 hideous drvers that went 200 at most and I can't even blame a tree. Luckily hit a few good shots to make up for it.
