Missed a lot of greens today, but was on the fringe or just 1-2 yards off on many holes, which is why my official putts were so low — had 12 one-putts, which has to be a career-best for me.

Walked up to the 16th tee at 1-over and knew it was the best chance I've ever had to shoot even par for a round. So naturally, I hit my drive into the trees. Ended up with a decent lie, though — time for a clutch hero shot! Yeah, no. My poor effort with a 3-wood hit another tree and bounced me into the adjacent fairway. Took two more shots to get to the green and then hit a lucky 30-footer for what still was a crushing bogey.

Pretty crappy but not awful round. Driver yips still real, used it 3 times.
Also left my putter at home so borrowed some crappy one from the course. Short putts weren't awful but had zero distance control with it. Had 1 par on the back.

37 - 41 = 78 69/113 6179
33 putts with two 3 putts and had a chip in.

38 - 43 - 81. Par 72, 50player competition with handicaps. Two strokes less and woulda been top-5 and some prize, 76 woulda won, pretty reasonable. Was scoring well early, but with some luck. Then a couple of disaster shots and rest was trying to survive. At least did not totally suck or melt down, score was better than hitting though.

38-39-77. No birdies or double bogeys/worse.

Hit ~ no great shots, most were okay, nothing too awful.

Still fairly lost with the driver but didn't use it a ton and found a bunt swing on the range as I couldn't square it up going 100% on the range. Played well but had zero business shooting what I did. I ran like god with bounces and shots being in bounds by a yard or 2 on a few holes.

Still very satisfied with my score as this is one of the tougher courses I've played this year. I still am money off the tee but have absolutely no finesse.

First time playing this course in years. It use to be one of the premiere courses in the state but went to **** after it got sold. Then it got sold again 3 years ago and is coming back into its original shape. The wife in college was a cart girl there and snuck me on the course for free or grabbed me leftover beers off the cart so I've got fond memories of it.

Played the first day of a 2-day tournament today and hit the ball damn well...except on one hole. Playing from the golds at Boulder Creek in the A flight. 73.1/129, 7300 yards.

Scored a meh 43 on the front with 3 pars, a double, and 3 freakin' 3-putts. But tee to green, not bad.

Vowed to do better on the back! Going into 16 I was +1 for the back nine, thanks to a 16 foot birdie putt on 15. I was even for the lead in my flight. Then...disaster!

16 is a 625 yd. par 5 that's pretty spectacular, with lots of things to consider and different ways to play it. It's also the "longest drive" hole. I'm sure this played into my drive, too!

I pull my drive left into the desert brush, for my first missed drive of the day. Might find it, might be in a bush, you never know. So I hit a provisional - and do the same damn thing! Now I'm pissed and hit my THIRD drive into the same damn spot.

Well, I'm bound to find one of them, so we go down there and we find my first ball!

Only, we're not sure it's my first ball because all three balls were from the same damn sleeve! So stupid of me.

Anyway, I take the penalties on the first two drives and make a heroic 10.

So then I proceed to double an easy par 3 because I'm rattled, but the make par on the last hole. So now I'm 7 behind the leader.

Can't remember last time I got a 10 on a hole.

I shot 82 at Nags Head Golf Links and lost 6 balls.

Oh and wind golf is ****ing hard

Rained out all weekend. We had 4 inches of rain on Friday leaving the course closed. Need to go find a driving range though, Bethpage tomorrow.

46-39-85 for the 2nd day of a tournament. Oh well.

40-43-83. 1 birdie, 3 double bogeys.

Messed around with some left handed chipping. Results mixed but not bad. Interestingly (to me anyway) getting set up consistently is the biggest challenge so far.

37-43-80. No birdies, 1 double bogey.

More of the same. Scrape it around okay but never close, short game sucks, putting sucks. Only had 1 LH chip opportunity, got it up and down.

Guys I played with loved to stand in line with my shot on the other side of the flag so that I'm hitting at them. Finally had to tell one of them to move so that I didn't kill him when I skulled the delicate pitch I was attempting. He moved, I skulled it right where it would have hit him in the knees and made a ****ing bogey.

45-44-89

6 pars, 5 doubles, no birdies. Drove it all over creation. 3 penalties. Mainly massive hooks, with a couple of slices mixed in. Actually chipped well for a change, saved me from a really big score.

43-46-89 - Bethpage Black 7,450y 78.1/152

4 pars, 10 bogeys, 4 doubles 4/14 FIR, 3/18 GIR, 34 putts (2 3-putts)

Course was probably playing around the 7,200y mark. My 89 with the course rating and slope came out to 8.1 in GHIN. Steady 10-20 mph with couples with the next to impossible rough equaled a tough day. If it went in the rough you were lucky to get as much as a 7 iron on it.

Started out the day good off of the first tee, 430y par 4. Playing downhill and downwind I had 95y to the green. If you are somewhat familiar with the course I took it over the trees and into the fairway. Other highlights were hitting the stick on the 4th from the bunker, although that was my 5th shot (par 5). The 8th played 186y and I hit 5 iron a foot away but it somehow released up the hill leaving me 10 feet of sheer terror coming back down.

Did I mention the rough was difficult? My score was fraudulent as I had lost 3-4 balls and just dropped like a lateral hazard. I had a hard time finding balls that just trickled into the rough.

All day I was hitting my driver 10-15 yards longer than the line I took off of the tee would allow, putting me through the fairway and in the rough.

Frustrating day overall but can't complain too much, except for the dude I was paired with literally taking 45 seconds over the ball once he addressed it. He would do a waggle and two club taps then take a PRACTICE SWING. Not like we were going anywhere as we finished in 5 hours 45 minutes.

Nothing worse than the walk of shame when your ball is barely in the rough. I hate almost 6 hour rounds but would be worth it there.

Huge disclaimer, they were coring the tee boxes so basically most of the holes minus 3 were from the Women's tees. The card says 5600 but there is zero chance it played more than like 5300. I took this as an oppurtunity to do the hole don't move back till you break par from the front box. Golf is so much easier from 5300 yards, only used like 3 drivers and I hit the ball well and combined with an all time good putting round. Like 1 in 500 round good putting. Strokes gained I was 5.43 shots better than scratch putting. That was really fun though.
This score pretty much in no way reflects my actual ability in golf but was fun none the less.

I highly recommend playing the front tees if you have never done it. Easy birdies are always fun.

Hahaha thats pretty funny, played first time from the front tees today! Did not fare as good though. Grats on the 65! I needed to get get a result in stableford points for the weekly comp, and figured it would be more likely from the front tees, and apparently people have been doing it a bunch (think its stupid that you can win the low-score from front tees if you have a low hcp but whatever).

5700yards. Was +6 through 8 holes, ugh. On par the rest, 1 birdie. Two short par-fives, but did not get to green in two anyway. Got three strokes less from the front tees, but I think it helped at least that much.

A couple of days ago played a tough 6700y course, worst round in don´t know how long. Gave up after 7 holes, course was nice and in good condition so that was swell. But yeah could not drive at all, irons bad and nothing close to okay. Did not finish one hole but 50-48 - 98 cant be far off.

46-48-94 (6,694 yds, 72.6/135).

Terrible. Not a hard layout despite the rating IMO, really open but just did everything poorly.

Nice — you still have to hit the shots to go that low! Have to try this sometime, although white tees at the easy course I frequently play already come in at 5600 — front tees would be like 4700 yards. But maybe I'd finally be able to break par.

Bogeyed first three holes and was not feeling good. Then played rest of front nine 3-under to get back to even, and started thinking, "OK, maybe today is the day for even par."

Nope. Bogeys on 10 and 11 put me right back in the hole; I never was able to make those up and threw in a bad bogey on 15 to seal the deal.

This was my first round with a new (used) Cobra F7 driver I just picked up. Came with both stiff and regular shafts, and since I've been flaring my old (stiff) driver to the right a lot, decided to try the regular. Much straighter, but still need to get this dialed in. Might have to buy additional weights and mess around with settings.

Thanks. Like I said was just an amazing day of putting. My strokes gained T:G was good but nothing amazing. Was my 4th or 5th best in the last 30 rounds.

It is fun though to try. Get used to making some birdies, or what it must be like to be DJ day in day out.

Awful, awful ball striking. Chunked a bunch of wedges. Made almost nothing with the putter. Just a brutal morning.

Shot 80 yesterday and 75 today (72.1 / 142) to miss the cut in the Colorado Mid Am by 1. Today I hit 11 fairways and 15 greens but had 4 3-putts and missed a 4 footer on another hole. I feel like drowning a kitten in a bathtub right now.

yikes....pressure is a funny thing.
