38-40-78

2 birdies, 10 pars, 4 bogeys, 2 doubles

8/14 FIR, 11/18 GIR, 34 putts (no 3-putts)

Started the day off going driver, 3 iron on the par 5 1st but left the eagle putt on the edge of the hole. Middle part of the round was a mess, going +6 over the 9th-12th, which is the toughest stretch of holes on the course.

Highlight of the day was going for 18 in 2 from 260y with a pond in front of the green. Needed about a 240 carry but I pulled it a touch right of the green where the carry is less and I made it. Got up and down for birdie.

Iron game good today. Played some old ProV1x's today so had to hit a club more, which smoothed out the swing a bit.

I really need to learn how to make some more putts. Of the 11 GIR I would say that 8 of those were 25 feet and in.

Oh yeah, also played in 1:50.

Ran into this traffic on the course today:

Saw another one peeing in the rough before the fairway later in the round. Didn't matter that anyone was around.

Is that rare down in your neck of the woods? Funniest thing I ever saw on a golf course was a pissed off buck chasing a golf cart down the fairway.

Pretty common actually to see the does, not the bucks. If I was a deer would I want to lay in the woods all day and have snakes and gators come after you? Probably not. Humans are the lesser threat.

39-43-82. No birdies, 1 triple bogey.

Started out fine but after 4 holes just completely lost all ability to concentrate. If I could have gotten away with quitting afer nine I would have.

How quickly the game goes away. Couldn't do anything right today. 83 from the white tees I think I lost 5 balls

Shot a 2 over 38 for 9 with only hitting 3 greens. I had 4 basic shots around the green that required very little thought and longest putt on those 4 was 3 feet. Took 2 hours 45 minutes to play 9 so was messing around playing some weird best ball worse ball shamble on the back chugging a beer if you lost the hole.

Red Tees - 64.9/114

37-34-71

5 birdies, 9 pars, 4 bogeys
6/14 FIR, 14/18 GIR, 32 putts (2 3-putts)

I was +3 through the first 5 holes then played pretty good after that. Driving was good, chipping good, putting not great but made a few. Irons were above average.

So much fun doing this every once in a while. Everyone else shot around what they would normally do from their usual tees. I was the only one to go really low.

Worst putting day ever. 77 today. Was 4 over after 3. Hit the last 14 GIR and only 1 birdie. 38 putts. Practiced after and am going to switch back to conventional from the claw. I switched the claw bc of yips. Hoping they don't come back. I did make 30 3 footers in a row.

35-42-77. 1 birdie, 1 double bogey. 9/13 fairways, 13/18 greens, 34 putts

Didn't really flag a lot of shots but kept it in play and was generally able to 2 putt. Did go 0/2 on sand saves and chipping was quite poor.

18th hole got me again (420 yard dogleg right) triple yesterday, double today. I think I'm going to start playing it as a par 5, iron off the tee so I don't hit it through the fairway, lay up short to avoid the bunkers and other danger and just try to get up and down. Too many bad things happen when the approach is usually from 190-210.

Played Sleepy Hollow today. Was hitting the ball, luckily hit range first and proceeded to shank 6 straight wedges but then found a feel on my backswing that instantly solved the issue. I actually putted well even though the stats don't show it. 6 or 7 lip outs and left myself some interesting putts. The greens are silly but fun. If you are above the hole then yo are lucky to get the ball to stop it 10 feet away with a good putt and a few are going to go off the green. Funny shots on 2 which is a huge massive deep green but not very ride. I think it was 225 to pin today right above a huge ridge. I landed the ball at 220 and by the time I got to the green it had rolled all the way to the front leaving 90 feet or so. The kid I was playing with had the same thing happen but his putt came up about a foot short of where he needed to go and the ended up back at his feet.

41 - 39 = 80 (Par 71)
39 putts with 6 3 putts.
4/13 FIR (actually drove the ball fine 12/13 good drives and 0.74 better than scratch strokes gained on game golf)
11/18 GIR

No birdies no doubles, no penalty strokes.

I never post in this thread, but love checking it out.

Played in a scramble today and shot 17-under (55), which was only good for SEVENTH. 24-under won it.

String is good for the charity, I suppose, but it makes for ridiculous scores. (Yeah, we used it, too.)

When you use the string is it good for the next shot or the one you just completed? So if you hit a tee shot within 3 inches on a par 3 is that good for a 1?

Has to be, right?

45-41 - 86. Two waterballs, two shanks, one bunker shot could not get up. Two birdies at least, but man there was some ugly stuff. Felt close to 100. Club championships starting on Fri, today last chance to enlist, guess I could just about get in with my hcp but don´t think I would enjoy it a lot. Would see good players hit close-up, but my drive is bad so back tees would suck.

Played a 2-day tournament in Mesquite, NV even though I had a back injury. Not a good idea. Conestago course.

47-47-94
46-46-92

Shame...it was a very nice course, but the greens were not great.

Shouldn't really play when hurt...it was very frustrating.

Would be a 1 and you are supposed to cut that amount off the string and throw it away. I refuse to play 4 man scrambles unless someone else is paying they are a joke and pointless, would just rather donate money.

I will play 3 mans with you marking for another team. Takes 6 hours but the scores are realistic.

Scrambles are not fun at all. Probably because I am not a great putter or iron player compared to my handicap but I get up and down a lot.

The city runs a bunch of 2 mans around here but just gross so you have to go low. They usually rotate just straight 4 ball, scramble and split(9 four ball - 9 scramble)

That type is really fun.

Scrambles are fun if they're with a bunch of people you know, or when they're at a course you wouldn't normally be able to play. This one was the latter, and I had a good time. You still get the opportunity to hit your shots, even if it's not really "golf."

But I don't ever go into a scramble thinking about winning it. If you do, you'll just end up pissed, and probably walk away thinking other people cheated when you lose.

In this instance, I just found it amusing/ridiculous that 17-under here was seven shots off the lead.

I find scrambles to generally be fun, though I too would never show up thinking about winning anything. I am not a fan, though, of ones that are too gimmicked up. I know that things like buying mulligans, string, pro-hits-your-shot, etc are designed to raise more money for the cause but too much of it just slows down an already slow event.

I once played in a scramble where you could buy (before the round) mulligans but there was no set limit on how many you could buy. One team bought a ****-ton, shot some absurdly low score and won but it took them like 6 1/2 hours to finish.

I'm playing in a 20-man Rider Cup like event next Friday. 18-hole 2-man scramble match in the morning, then 9-hole singles matches in the afternoon.

So, I played the course yesterday. 70.2/124

41-39 for an 80 (+9)

I couldn't get the green speeds as they were far slower than most courses. I left putts short on 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 9, 10, 12, and 13 (of varying length).

4 fairways, 10 greens, and 34 putts.

I stood on 16 tee after a double bogey thinking I needed to play the last 3 even for 80 (par 4, 4, and 5). I three-putted 16 and 17 for bogey and eagled 18 for 80.

Sorry for the scramble derail — I know it's not really what this thread is about. So to get back on track, here's my round for Sunday.

White tees (70.0/120), Par 72, about 6300 yards

39-39-78

9/14 fairways, 8/18 GIR, 31 putts (two three-putts)
2 birdies, 9 pars, 6 bogeys, 1 double

7 a.m. tee time about a half-hour from the house, so was very much regretting my decision to play cards past midnight the night before. Very stiff and sore from a group workout Saturday morning as well. I am not in great shape, and I am not 30 years old anymore.

Doubled first hole and immediately lowered expectations for the day — then somehow didn't make worse than bogey the rest of the way. Round was significantly helped by lucky 50-foot birdie putt on #2, and another lucky birdie from about 10 feet off the green on #4 (I putted).

Oddly enough, I think the lack of sleep and the soreness played a big role in helping me hold this round together. I didn't try to do too much, which kept me under control.

As they say beware of the sick golfer. My pb was shot with a slightly tweaked hamstring and swung relaxed. Sounds like lack of sleep worked for you.

37 (34) this evening.

Started bogey-double and polished off 7 straight pars, definitely my longest streak of pars. Among those pars I went 3/5 fairways and 7/7 on GIR. Missed four birdie putts inside 10 feet and another two inside 20. Oof. Pretty happy with how I'm hitting it right now though.
