Will try it, thanks. Gonna look on Youtube and see if I can find some good basic instructional putting videos also. Part of my problem is I have no concept of what I should be doing... I just keep trying different grips and different stances hoping something will stick.

i've found it extremely helpful to read the line and pick out a spot ~2-3 feet in front of the ball to putt through...something like a light or dark patch of grass, just anything to give you that short distance aim point that's easy to square up to and make the stroke.

Wish my problem was putting. I'm new to this game and can't consistently hit an iron and my yardage with woods and my driver are atrocious.

Shot an 84 at a course called Shale Creek. Super solid course and even better it was $30 on golfnow on a Saturday. Played 1 box up from the tips but was still almost 6700 for a par 71. Will be going back for sure.

Rule of thumb when you have a game plan stick to it on the course. Wheels fell off.

78 today which is slightly above average for me but not as great considering I had an albatross. On a related note, I holed a hybrid from 219 on the par 5 third for a 2...I think I went into shock when I saw it in the bottom of the hole lol

Awesome. I always thought I would get an albatross before I get a hole in one. Still 0 fer in both though.

Damn that is pretty awesome, have had a hole in 1 but not an albatross. I think the only thing better would be a 1 on a par 4. Not even sure how I would react.

Hopefully by playing from the tips next time.

Jokes aside, one of my buddies likes to brag he has a hole in one on a par 4. When you ask him for the details, he suddenly struggles to remember how long the hole was...

Thanks. Yeah it's a pretty good feeling lol. I got my first ace last year (par 3) but about 10 years ago I hit driver on a 290 island green par 4 and literally had a 5 inch tap in for eagle. Even with an ace and an albatross I still consider that to be my best shot.

36 putts, which is weird since I felt I putted a lot better than that. Really felt comfortable over my putter today and a bunch of my bogey putts were tap-ins.

For the first 11 holes, I had one total fluff/duff/top/waste of a shot on every hole. Really cost me a lot of strokes.

Weird moment was on the last - I needed par or better to play to my handicap, and after a great drive and layup, I had 95m left, about 4m uphill with a wind slightly into and across. Pin at the back. I hate my gap wedge but didnt want to risk overcooking a knockdown PW so decided f-it, let her rip with the 52*, hoping to at least hit it straight and if I'm lucky, find the front edge. Furthest I've ever hit this club is about 92m.

Anyway, we all know how this ends. Flush the living sht out of it, straight over the flag stick and down in the gully to a really tough spot. Hit a great chip into the bank but with no green to work with, still rolled out to 5m and 2-putted for bogey.

Absolutely bewildered by how far that gap wedge flew, though.

Really really close to being a good round. 2 birdies, 6 pars, 7 bogeys, 3 doubles.

Driver was on today. Had a lot of <100 yd shots into the greens, but that is where I failed. Putting was really good early then really really bad late. 3 putt bogeyed each of the last 3 holes. Granted 2 of the 3 were long birdie putts but still.

par the first hole and then proceed to double bogie the next six holes with three penalties. birdie 8 & 9 and play the back nine +5 with five pars, three bogies and a double...+3 on the last eleven holes almost makes up for the first seven. just couldn't find the fairway off the tee.

First round of the year! 36F, but not much wind and sunny, was a lot better than I was afraid of. Four putts on the first green and it did not get much better, knew the greens were slow but kept milking untill the end. Good to be back on the course

Yeah exactly, walking and some hills too. And coffee haha. Do agree with chilly though =). Has not been this cold here in southern Finland in a while this time of year, at least the forecasts are now promising.

83 in a FSGA event. Team shot a net 67 which tied for 1st but we lost the scorecard playoff. 2 birdies, 8 pars, 4 bogeys, 4 doubles.

We actually played the tips at my course which is only around 6600y. Shot ourselves in the foot by taking a net bogey on our 15th hole of the day.

I actually drove the ball better than those stats show, some of those misses include 1 yard off a green on a par 4, 300 yarder that went dead straight but fairway ran out and 2 other dead straight long ones that barely missed. Left myself a ton of dumb angles on short par 4s. Kept having 40 yard wedges to pins 1-4 yards over a bunker. Got a bit sloppy on a few alignments causing missed greens.
