I wish, should have clarified. 2 bogeys, 1 double with the laterals. The birdie was unrelated.

2 doubles and a triple. Worst 9 holes in a long time. Did not warm up at all. Just stepped up and sliced the 1st shot into the driving range. Probably should not have hit driver on the 1st shot. lost 3 strokes off the tee boxes. Lost 3 more on short approaches of 40-50 yards. I was trying a different club I don't use in those situations. 2 years ago this would have been a solid round for me. Its good to see the improvements.

After work golf is just about over. Getting too dark. Very sad. Season will be done soon. Ill have to start going to the F'ing gym after work. I hate that *****.

Played a cross country scramble event, that was fun. Course is forested, so it's challenging. Hit some really great shots, made zero putts.

Brag -

I hit the ball from tee to green, last Thursday, about as well as I ever have on all 18 holes. I received one of the best golfing compliments I have ever received (I'm in my late 50's so there aren't many left for playing well.) I learned that the (new) gentleman I played with was talking about my game with everyone at his club and even asked our other playing partner if I had ever been a pro. Little did he know that my lifetime mediocre short game and a piss poor putting day (about 38 of the friggan' little suckers) turned what should have been a routine 70(or better) into an 80 (+8.) Time to start practicing my short game for once.

42-36--78

6 pars, 1 bogey (3-putt), 1 double, 1 triple on the front.
5 pars, 2 bogeys, 2 birdies on the back.

Legit excuse on one of the bogeys on the back. Someone in my group grabbed the sand out of my cart at the top of my swing and I chunked it.

Also missed a 3 footer for birdie on the back or I would have ended with 3 in a row and woulda tied my career low 9 hole score.

41, 1 birdie, 4 pars, 2 bogeys, 2 doubles

20-30 mph winds on the back side of the hurricane. Course was a touch wet, but not bad.

42-40-82. No birdies, 2 double bogeys.

Played much better on the back side, finally made adjustments that resulted in more consistent contact.

2 birdies, 5 doubles (score adjusted). Probably would have shot 90ish.

with 3 doubles, no birdies. Bleh. Didn't play well, but it was a beautiful day.

42-43-85. No birdies, no double bogeys.

Strange round. Five pars, 13 bogeys. Many ways to make bogey, basically screwing up one shot per hole but not badly enough to create double bogeys.

Brag: shot 77 (+5, 41-36), best round of the year
Beat: lost at least 4 strokes to awful short game on the front 9
Variance: Made an eagle by knocking a 4 wood stiff from 220.

I'm going to post a pic of my scorecard in a follow up post. I'm new to golf and have been lurking this forum for a couple months now. Started hitting driving range about 6 months ago. Up until yesterday have been on the golf course a total of three times essentially scramble type play.

I went to a course somewhat close to my house to hit the range to change it up as it's probably closest range where you get to hit off the grass instead of mats. Course is interesting, probably the oldest one in Houston, Hughes use t play there. It's now in an essentially a hispanic ghetto where you hear Tejano blaring from a nearby club on the driving range. Anyway I was actually hitting relatively decent, good consistent distances for me on my 9i through 3i. Was also able to hit my 3W, 5W and my driver better that I have in the past. Better means around 200 yards with driver and only a bit of left handed slice on the ball.

Anyway decided to hit to a few for twilight golf, it was the nicest day we've seen in Houston for like 6 months and I was the last one hitting course. I'll post the scorecard got in around 9 holes, skipped a few par 5s and hit a couple of holes in the back 9 that I didn't score.

Didn't score it but the 8th had this crazy water trap. I hit a few balls into it and gave up. 9th hole decided to hit from ladies tee, yardage on scorecard must be off as I hit to the edge of green. 3 putted to make par. Played 10th hole a short par3 with sand traps on both sides of the green. Hit it to right of one of the traps and 4 putted. Need to work on chipping and putting as well, but until I get my long irons and woods somewhat consistent need to focus on that.

I have a long way to go. I've read a bit of Ben Hogans 5 essentials and golf for dummies probably need a few classes to have a pro check my swing.

Good luck with enjoying golf and improving too, itīs a fun journey. Not sure how important lessons are, maybe they can help a lot to at least get the biggest mistakes removed. I never took lessons, friends did give some comments but a lot of the time the advice they tried to give I did not understand how to implement (and some advice was just plain wrong). Do hope I would have taken a lesson or two, just to know if it would have helped me.

In the beginning I think itīs important to hit the range and get reps on irons. At least for me it took some time just to get the ball in the air lol.

42-40 - 82 on easy par 71. Was less windy today, still a bit of a breeze. Not much to remember, but less big mistakes than lately. Iīm awful with my 3-wood, funny how 4 hybrid is pretty go-to club and then I canīt hit the spoon at all.

Thanks, I'm having fun and enjoying it, just have a long way to go. I do feel that I'm making improvement which is encouraging. There's a place not to far my house that I think has a free clinic that only a few people show up to. I think maybe I'll go there and see if I can get some pointers on my swing and what to work on. I'm going to continue focus on hitting the range and just occasionally playing until I start hitting the clubs a little more consistent.

46-49 - 95. Tougher course, but not much wind and greens moist so not as quick as normal, was a good weather to score. So scored a lot. Usually at least something works okay, today nothing. Brutal all around. Canīt remember being as happy that the round ended.
