Might have been the best 9 I have ever played as far as contact. 6 of 7 fir. 7 of 9 gir all within 20feet. Even was 20 ft for eagle on a par 5 (made birdie). Did not hit a bad shot other than my putting did me no favours..

43-44 - 87. Putted awful. Had a run of rounds putting well but today stroke was awful and results too. Chipped bad as well, lately it has been the other way around with tee-to-green being the problem but today that was good and then messed it all up near the flag.

43-43--86

9 pars, 4 bogeys, 5 doubles

When it was bad, it was really bad. All of the pars were GIRs with a 2 putt. 3-putted 2 additional GIRs.

So 11 GIRs and an 86, not good.

Top 10 rounds, other than putting. 5, 3 putts. I just could not catch break. Would hit the ball to 20 feet with approach. Would have a huge side hill putt with 10 feet of break on another level. Putt the ball to 5 feet. Lip out the 5' with 2' of break. Tap in bog. Rinse and repeat.

No doubles, 38 putts....played so solid. I never thought I would be this happy with an 85. I could have just as easily shot 75.

ARGHHHHHHH!

Thought I had the sub-80 round in the bag. Got really unlucky.

On the 17th, it's a short par 3 across water with a steep bunker guarding the front. Seemed like a 2-club wind behind us, so I used a gap-wedge, knowing it'd have to fly about 115 to clear the bunker. Well, just as I hit it, the wind died...but I hit it pure and it plugged right under the front lip of the bunker. literally UNDER the lip. All I could do was swing at it and dislodge the ball so it rolled back into the middle of the bunker. Hit a wonderful sand shot from there to wthin 3 feet to save bogey, though.

Okay, just gotta par the 18th...it's one of my favorite holes - tough driving hole, as you have to choose which side of a creek that runs on a diagonal from the bottom left to the top right of the fairway.

Well, I pop the damn drive way up high, but get lucky...still have 200 yards to the green. Miss-hit a 6-iron, pitch to 15 feet, and just miss the damn putt.

Really, only the one bad drive of the day. Guess the pressure got to me.

On the double on the par 5 - I hit my drive well, just a little bit too far left - and it went into a bunker - I tried using a 6-iron to give myself a decent 3rd shot into the green, but I didn't get enough loft and hit the lip and rebounded back into the bunker.

2 birdies, 2 doubles. And they all came within a 4-hole stretch on the back nine! Birdie-double-double-birdie. How weird.

Played well, though. Only 30 putts. Striking the ball better than ever.

The birdies were nice. First one I hit a great drive but right into a bunker that, for some reason, is in the middle of the damn fairway. Had a stiff wind in my face and 135 yds. to the pin - just used an 8-iron and made sure I hit the ball first - stuck it to within a foot for a tap-in.

Second birdie was an great drive, a pure PW to within ten feet, and sunk the putt.

I've got to start scoring better on par 5s.

What's really helped is something so simple. Instead of looking at the ball when i'm about to swing, I look about a half-inch in front of the ball - at a blade of grass or something - and that helps me hit the ball first and take a decent divot IN FRONT OF THE BALL. It's pretty much eliminated fat shots or chunks.

39 (par 35)
44 (par 35)
41 (par 37)

No birdies, 1 double, 1 triple. Awful. Never found a consistent swing, sand play was horrendous, didn't make many putts.

42 +7 OMG so bad. Didn't know where it was going, but to compound it my brain checked out trying to scramble around the greens. Missed multiple four footers, and naturally holed a 40 footer on the last for birdie. Because golf is a stupid game.

Dominic, nice round and too bad about the bunker lip, had that happen last summer twice and second time hit myself in the back as had no idea where it was flying. Really got me thinking with that aiming in front of the ball, ofc no idea if that would work for me but my problem def with irons is hitting fat shots.

Hmm watched a couple of youtube vids and yea gotta try some drill with aiming in front of ball.

45-40 - 85, and then 9 holes +2 with three birdies. First time playing solo. Pretty wet so the course was quite empty, enjoyed it more than I thought I would. Good way to train for sure, if had trouble with some shot just fired a couple more.

I'm telling you, it's astounding how much better my ball-striking is from such a simple fix. It's a little disconcerting not looking right at the ball at first, but you get used to it.

Bobby Clampett's Impact Zone videos have really helped...that's where I found I drill.

5 doubles, 1 tripple. Another round that easily could have been an 80. Feel like I'm playing way better than I'm scoring. Only really hit 2 bad shots the entire round. One sliced into water and another spliced deep into the trees. It should have only cost me a couple of strokes. Everything else is just slightly off.

Beat: weather turning to good, would love to hit the course (and also try Impact Zone stuff) but today got a mole removed and stiches are in a place that might be a problem so 10 days without swinging apparently. Maybe now work on the putter, at least no excuses to neglect it. Boo hoo.

Every club in my bag has changed in some fashion or another in the last 3wks (Woods/hybrids : replaced ; Irons : Bent more upright ; Wedges : Bent upright & back to proper loft ; Putter : SuperStroke 1.0 grip added) so I decided to play a practice style round, with a lot of extra shots taken to get better acclimated to my clubs.

41-43-84. Holes 5-15 were shot +4 which was some amazing golf for me. 30 putts total, no 3-putts, practice has really payed off. My reborn 58deg (was 64deg) wedge gave me a lot of 1-putt opportunities, and I didn't duff a chip/pitch all day today. Upright irons flew with a draw flight rather than my stock fade, which is a bit awkward/will require some serious mental retooling.

Earlier this summer I dislocated my shoulder so did a couple weeks of putting and short chips. Also finally learned how to chip with a hybrid. My putting has been a lot better since then.

That's just insane that your 58* was actually 64*. What * upright did you get your irons? I have mine at 2* up but am going to get them re-checked. I might actually go up another degree or two.

I got the 58 preowned a long ass time ago and had it reshafted some time ago so sort of figured they would check its loft then. I think I got them bent 2* upright, and it all but removed my fade with those clubs. It's pretty funny I considered myself an average, but fast swinging golfer yet my stock irons are basically a 0% fit for me. I remember the lie board marks were centered basically right in between center and the tip of the toe.

Loft/lie adjustment easily the best 45$ I spent, esp since I play all 10 irons

40 (par 37). No birdies or double bogeys.

About as uninteresting a round as you can have. Some good shots, some not so good but nothing in serious trouble.

42-38-80. One double bogey.

Took 4 to get down from 50 yards twice in the first six holes. Scrambling improved on the back. But only hit 6 greens.

New personal best!

40-47 87

First time ever in the 80's

1 birdie
7 pars
5 bogeys
4 2x
1 trip

I have never struck my irons as crisp as I did today. Short game and putting were A+. Unfortunately I could not hit my driver at all on the back 9 or I could have probably shot 80-82. I just totally lost the driver on the back 9 and was not smart enough to put it in my bag.

Feeling awesome right now. Previous best was 90 about 20 years ago.

Nicely done. Since you say your shortgame & putting were A+, how many of those pars were up and downs?

Only two.

The rest and my birdy were on GIR's.

I had three others on non pars. I really had to scramble because I was so bad off the tee.

I see. I had 5 up & downs my last round as well, and 3-4 other <10ft opportunities as well. It's definitely an asset when your post-GIR wedge shot becomes legitimate par chances rather than just getting on & taking the bogey

Yeah.... I've been really working on this aspect of my game. It's so important. I'd say more important than the long game.

If I can keep my drives in play I have a shot on every hole.

Thought I hit the ball fairly well and putted pretty good.
First 4 +4, next 5 -1, next 7 +10, last 2 E

I also went out and played 9 this afternoon and hit the ball like **** and shoot:

Even Par 36

2 bogeys, 2 birdies, Really hit it all over the park but escaped any massive danger.

That 36 combined with a previous 37 for a posting of 73. That would be 2 better than my career best if it happened on the same day.
