39-55 today.

Was -1 and 40 yards out on #6 but just didn't catch my wedge cleanly from the rough and 3 putted from ~50 feet. Then my driver deserted me and I was just in shambles the rest of the round including a stretch of triple-quad-quint on 11-13.

holed out from 93 yards on a 342 yard par 4 for eagle. aimed to carry fairway bunker on left, pushed it to the middle of the fairway. couldn't find my ball, thought it was long in the rough, but the guy i was playing told me it was embedded in the fairway, so deep it wasn't even visible from more than about 10 yards away. then i hit a perfect little 3/4ish sand wedge. landed about 8 feet from the hole and slowly rolled in.

rest of the round sucked.

42-44 today for 86, best round of the year. 1 birdie. 39 putts though. Hadn't played in 3+ weeks, definitely long game was feeling better from lesson and lots of range practice but I was not putting well.

Shot 76 on the weekend. I drove the ball so well and got up and down so many times it blew my mind. I had the most ridiculous putting round i've ever had.
Also, this course has a few tee boxes on the back 9 that get into my head.. The tees basically point out of bounds and if I try to compensate by aiming left, I usually get an open stance and hit it further right than humanly possibly. This time I smoked drives right down the middle. I've never broken 80 on this course either, so it was so many good things at once!

Awesome. Feels so good when things come together like that.

I had a weird round Sarurday. Played the 10 par-4s even par and the other 8 holes like a 24 handicap. Just kind of a strange coincidence that my lost balls and terrible shots were all on the par 3s and 5s. Spaz. 42-45 87. 10/14 fairways, 8 GIR, 31 putts and 7 penalty strokes :-/

Pinehurst #7 - 38-41--79

1 birdie, 9 pars, 8 bogeys

No clue as to the number of greens or fairways as I was dodging rain and occasional thunder. They had just sanded the greens so they were inconsistent on speed. I ended up 3-putting for bogey 2 or 3 times.

The course is fairly tight off the tee and I had to hit hybrid a number of times making the 6,850y course even longer.

Highlight of the day was a 400y par 4. Hit a sky ball 3hy off the tee and had 246y left. Hit the best 3 wood of my life off of a hanging lie to 10 feet past the hole. Left the downhill slider on the edge of the cup for a tap in par.

44-43-87.

Second straight round under 90, feeling better about my swing. Driving/putting great. Irons still inconsistent, need to hit more GIR if I want to get down to the lower 80s. My best score ever is 82.

37 (par 37). 2 birdies, no double bogeys. 6/7 fairways, 5/9 greens, 13 putts.

Why the **** can't I play like that more often. Ball striking so solid. Putting very very good.

No Bueno today. -3 to my handicap thru 5, played a great 3rd shot on 6 that my home courses ridiculously tough greens made a mockery of then never recovered. Some **** lies and some **** shots left me with a hugely disappointing 109

44-41-85 - Chapel Ridge (Pittsboro, NC)

Freddie Couples design. Plenty open but if you are off in the native area good luck finding it.

Hit the ball really good but just didn't score for ****. Bent greens just kill me. All of my chips check up (unlike bermuda) and I couldn't get the speeds down. Think I 3-putted 4 times or so. Also missed numerous 5 footers to save par.

1 triple, rest pars and bogeys

11/14 fairways, 10/18 greens, 38 putts (including 4 3-putt bogeys)

Nice private course. Greens are huge. I had a 43 yard putt for birdie today.

Played Bali Hai again today....decent internet price of $75.....got paired up with another single and he happened to be the drummer for Maroon 5.

Started the day with 6 straight pars...lipped out on some birdie putts...today will be the day I break 80!

But no. I immediately bogeyed an easy par 5 and then doubled the 8th.

The back nine is tougher than the front...and I ended up doubling the final hole, as well, for a 43.

So:

39-43-82

Putted well...just didn't get anything to fall...must've had like 6 lip-outs.

Driver FINALLY started coming around today.

I will break 80 soon...I can feel it...

I shot a 69 today to qualify for the Colorado Amateur. It was one of the better rounds I've played. But the amazing thing about it was I did it 5 weeks to the day after dislocating my shoulder. I've dislocated my shoulder before but fortunately the recover has been going really fast this time. My putting was crazy good, so its nice that all the practice and drills I did the first couple weeks after the injury paid off

The qualifier was at Highland Meadows in Windsor. The actual tournament will be at Boulder Country Club.

Scramble today. We managed -11, last I heard -19 was leading. It was on the goofier side, but whatever. Some good shots, putted well early but didn't make any bombs.

Took my 8-year old twins to a local Executive course. Par 32. Longest hole was 260.

1 double bogey, 2 birdies, and 6 pars.

My kids had a fun round and I got to teach them a lot about walking, carrying, and etiquette. Good time.
