50-41--91 - Bear's Best Las Vegas

First time swinging a club in over a week which is a lot for me. Has to rush to make it to the course on time so I had a total of 5 swings on the range before I started.

Somehow managed to triple 2 par 3's today. Short-siding yourself with a downhill bunker shot to a green sloping away from you is not a good recipe. Somehow managed 2 birdies today though.

Overall one of my better ball striking rounds in a while, less the last 2 holes. Managed an eagle today on a 490y par 5. Hit a 4 iron to 10 feet and made it.

Canyon Gate - Las Vegas

40-43-83

2 birdies on the day. My goal was to have no doubles on the day. That worked for the first 16 holes, then I doubled 17 and 18.

Driver still good, irons still good, chipping kinda meh, putting not great. Finally made a couple putts on the back.

I really like this course. Not really a desert course but there is some waste area.

Had fun playing with Scott...he actually had the better score, as I gave myself s couple of mulligans.

Boulder Creek:

Had a good round going, with 1 birdie and a bunch or pars and bogeyes, until the last 4 holes, where I played them in 6-over.

Gods new is I like the new M2. Hit some good drives.

Got in 4 1/2 holes this afternoon, glad score wasn't important cuz it was brutal. 40 degrees and windy, not ideal conditions. Felt good to get out there though.

85 @ UBC...wet conditions but overall happy.

I went with the drinking and basketball this weekend, was like 36 all weekend up in Cleveland.

Third straight 83. The 39 on the front was a grind as I lost my swing on the second tee and didn't find it until the back 9, then I shot worse somehow.

Will be on property at Bandon on Tuesday.

Shot 38-49 87 at Battlement Mesa yeatetday. 1 birdie. 2 triples.

First round in a month. Some solid ball striking and lol putting the first 11 holes then meh.

I had no game off the tee today. I just could not hit the driver on the upswing to save my life, just was too narrow and shut most of the time. I had to resort to basically bunting the ball down the fairway. Hit some really good shots and some terrible ones, was very weird. Putted well, was +SGP even though had 32 putts. Lipped out 4 birdie putts though.

I lit a lot of shots on fire though, besides the lip outs I straight up chunked 3 shots and hit 2 terrible snap hook drives that didn't even go 150 yards. Need to get a few range sessions in with some video and fix my driver swing. Hit a ton of 80-90% shots just flighting them low. All in all it still is progress.

Included a stunning 9 on the 3rd - Par 4. After putting my flop shot over the bunker, straight into the bunker. Then catching the lip. Then having the ball come to rest right in my very deep footprint and not getting it out a second time. Did I mention I also 3 putted that hole? Urgh. Really happy with Fairways hit though. Left the driver in the car and went 3W for the whole round (A couple of holes with 4H).

I'm playing The Kinloch Club in a couple of weeks which is the only Jack Nicklaus course in New Zealand, and really need to make sure I find the fairways if I don't want to go broke losing balls. It's a tough one at 7363 yards 77.4/139 off the Tournament tees. I'll be sticking to the Whites 6519 yards 72.2/135. You can view a full play through below. Never a flat lie on the course either...

41-38-79. 1 birdie, no double bogeys. 11/13 fairways, 9/18 greens, 33 putts.

Not a tough setup, only about 6100 yards. Missed the first two fairways then hit all the rest, good day with the driver. Irons were weak but at least fairly predictable and misses were straight. Chipping was awful, putting mediocre.

44-45-89 at my local course. Not good.

I finally started hitting the ball a bit better towards the end of the round. Only hit driver 4 times today, all on the par 5's. Hitting the 3 wood off of all other par 4's and keeping it in play. Might be a winning combo in the near future.

41 (par 35). No birdies, 2 double bogeys.

Only time for nine holes today. Ball striking was okay, short game pretty bad. I hit every putt way too hard. The ten feet past kind of too hard. Also stubbed a chip. Practice needed.

Got in 9 rounds of golf in 9 days in Spain. On the positive side got 8 birdies and last 9 was 38 shots. But man a lot of it was just terribad. The only way I did not miss, was what my buddy did as he hit the ball on a practise swing. The best two rounds were 89 with a 11 on one hole and a 91 with a 13 on a par-4 . Thats prolly the biggest score on one hole ever, but wanted to get a score and also just wanted to torture myself (and we were waiting anyways), 4 balls to waters on that one haha. On other rounds the torture was too much so did not get a score or it was closer to 100, yikes.

Guess I need to hit the range as they are now starting to open. Currently hitting could be described by something that we were met by up the top of Gibraltar

Frustrating round yesterday at Boulder Creek:

41-42-83

Hit the ball very well and was mostly in the fairways and on the greens. I had one birdie when I stuck a 4 hybrid to within 2 feet from 215 yards out on a long par 5.

But I missed 8 birdie putts between 7 and 20 feet. I also double bogeyed the 9th and 18th, when a par on both would've given me a 39-40.

Apparently, I need to practice my putting...but man, the putts were mostly good - just missing or lipping out. None would fall.

One of the monkeys on Gibraltar stole some girls backpack when we were there, was one of the funnier things I have seen.

Well I shot an 11 today.. No recovering from that. Thankfully was on number 8 so just crushed beers back 9

Arnold Palmer had a 12 once. His dozen came in the 1961 Los Angeles Open, on the ninth hole at Rancho Park Golf Course, a par 5 flanked by the driving range on the right and Patricia Avenue on the left. After hitting a drive in the fairway, Palmer hit two balls right and into the driving range, two more left and onto Patricia Avenue, then hit his 10th shot onto the green. Two putts later, he had his dozen.

As the story evolved through the years, he was said to have replied this way to a question as to how he made 12: "I missed a three-footer for 11."

When I lived in L.A., I used to play that same course, and at the tee box of that hole they have this big plaque commemorating Palmer's amazing score, with a run-down of how it happened.

My swing was so so so so so bad today. I was just tight and couldn't get the hips firing at all especially with the driver. Was decent inside 140 but had zero club head speed today. Didn't help it was really wet and41 degrees either.

The tossed it half way down the cliff and started throwing things out of it to get at what ever food she had in it. No golf on the trip, Did Morocco for a long day, Amsterdam and Barcelona but the majority of the trip was eating olives and drinking on the beach in Spain, good times.
