50-58--108 ouch

2 GIR including backing up a 9-iron 10 feet (highlight of the day). The driver and 5 wood were sprayed everywhere, either a banana slice or a pull hook. Ended up de-lofting a 5 iron off the tee the back nine, and shot worse, although I'm still not sure how cause I hit that well.

Gonna be a long grind back.

Finally got back out on the course! One round Wed., one yesterday

First round since November on Wed: 88 (+16) 74.7 135

Lol...very much what I expected. Couldn't hit a fairway, 3 putts galore, couldn't chip, etc. Just felt great to be back out there. Started to show some glimpses of normal form towards the end.

Yesterday was a world apart: 73 (+2) 73.7 139

Was very surprised how quickly I turned it around, usually takes me a couple weeks of playing. Ball striking and short game were night and day vs. Wed. Hopefully this bodes well for the season.

So pumped to be back on the course.

35 Stabford points.

Threw all my fairway woods out the bag and put in a two hybrid that I hadn't hit before.
Started very shakerley but got better as the round went on.

4 Pars, 9 Bogies, 3 Doubles and 2 worse, the first and third holes.

Hit the hybrid for the first time on the 7th a par three and hit the green. Then again on the par three 11th and overshot the green. Then off the tee for position on the 13th and hit the fairway. Then on the par three 14th and left a four foot putt which I missed.
So looks like I have two spaces in my bag and some fairways to go on eBay.

there was a score but I don't know what it was. I do know it was bad, but that's what happens when you don't touch a club for 5 months. On the plus side, a competent par was made at the last so I'll try again tomorrow.

44-39-83. Talamore in Southern Pines NC. Back to usual mediocrity, happy about that.

Also played nine at Southern Pines GC. Love that course.

I shot 84 at a Golf Channel Amateur Tour even Desert Pines Las Vegas. I signed up for the 12 -15.9 section even though I hadn't been keeping my handicap lately and that seemed like a decent choice. Might have to move down if I beat that score next time.

I hit the ball as well as I ever have; not a single bladed or fat shot on a stock swing. I did make a couple fat chips, a couple chunked bunker shots just to the fringe, 2 four putts and 3 three putts. And two dumb driver selections on short par fours leading to bogey and tripple.

The beat part is that the lowest score of my 7 opponents was also 84 except, did I say I shot 84? I meant 86 since my group was slapped with a two stroke pace of play penalty when we turned in our cards. The rule is (and I thought it was at the TD's discretion but I'll have to look it up) that you must finish each 9 in 2:15 and if you fail to do that you must finish less than 14 mins behind the group ahead. Our times were 2:21, 1:55 and we finished the front nine 16 minutes behind the previous group. Also, we were a foursome, they were a threesome, and we were waiting for them the first 6 holes. They got a pace of play warning on 7 and obviously sped up while we had two balls to search for on seven and didn't catch back up till 10 or 11. Oh, and we actually played the front nine in 2:15 but teed off 6 minutes late because the group in front of us did.

Was this punishment draconian or what?

Anyway, /beat I had a good time and a good round and it's fun to count'em all and play a scratch tournament.

46-42-88 or something, Anderson Creek GC in the Fayetteville NC area. Nice course, dodged the rain, good times. Can't hit a straight putt to save my life, need a total reset.

95

3 pars, 8 bogies, 5 doubles, 2 worse.

Marathon round because there was a competition on. Started not so great played well in the middle then had my first really bad hole on the 16th and a giant melt down on the 18th, where I hooked my drive into the trees and then topped my third onto the ladies tee.

Approximately 44-44-88 on Wednesday at the Dormie Club in West End, NC.

If you get the chance, play it, good chance it goes private soonish. Rack rate is $190 weekdays. If any of my photos turned out I'll try to remember to add them.

Shot a 74 net to win our Captain's Drive-in - was really windy but was shocked I won with 3 over par, 4 over SSS - CSS was 73, reductions only.

That's golf I guess.

how do you guys settle rules disputes when you play?

I play with this friend quite often (compete for $ and follow USGA rules)

Yesterday, he hits a ball thats lands within 2 inches to the left of a puddle. He asks me about taking free relief due to abnormal grounds condition. It was my opinion that his stance, and intended swing were not going to be affected.

Normally, I am not a hard ass for something like this, but his free relief was going to put him on the fairway when his initial shot landed in the rough.

Rust reared its ugly head again yesterday

79 (+8) 73.2 129

Think I only hit like 5 greens and skulled a few chips/pitches which I NEVER do. I did manage 3 birdies which is a positive considering my overall play.

Hit a bunch of balls at my net at home after for my first real practice session this year, seemed to be hitting it more flush after working on some things. Still probably few weeks away from returning to normal season form.

Damn, everyone shoots better than me!

53-50-103

1 par and 7 bogeys for first round of the year and only second the last year and a half. I felt great about the round since 103 is typically around what I shoot, except there was a damned strong wind today with temps in the 50s. Was pissed with 15th and 17th. Terrible drive on 15th cost me a realistic chance to break 100, and the bunker on 17th took away my par-par attempt at breaking 100.

I didn't hit many fairways and I don't have any length off of the tee (probably due to my back condition), but I only had 35 putts for the round and my short game, minus the bunkers, was excellent. Definitely going to get out more this summer.

So on Saturday, ate a gigantic breakfast of horrible stuff, and went to play golf. Was talked into playing in the Masters pick a pro thing at the club by head pro.

You pick one player and you get blind drawed with another, and you keep your score (honor system). You have a gross/net flight with your picked partner and a gross/net flight with your blind draw partner. I picked Rory and got Graeme McDowell as the blind draw (so that's out).

Start out all horrible and not warmed up and go awful double bogey/awful double bogey, bogey, and am +5 thru 3 and already have wasted my $20. Got it together to shoot 43, +7 on the "front" (started on back 9). Shot 37 on the back and got 2nd in the gross division w/Rory. Ship $45. Holed out a 105 yard wedge shot on no. 6 for a birdie too. Pretty sweet comeback.

The "tournament" was from the gold tees (6600 yards) too and I played from the back (7000) so I think that should count for something.

Have your opponent play two balls, with him declaring before and which ball he will count. After the round, post your rules question to the misc. golf thread. Someone will have the answer.

TPC Tampa Bay - Green Tees - 6,332 yards - 70.4/131

45-51---96

8/14 fairways
3/18 greens <----- Obv weak spot
35 putts

I didn't take a wood out of the bag all day. Teed off with a 4-iron.

These are some of the biggest greens as far as depth goes. I had more 50-90 foot putts I have ever had in my life. Greens were running 10.5. Lag putting was really good.

Approach shots need to get a lot better, lost most of my shots there.

Longest putt faced, 90 feet or so:

I hit the down slope off of the bunker and it rolled out to there.

It's not so obvious that that's your weak spot.

I have a lot of weak spots obviously. Considering I can't pull a driver out of the bag, there is another.

When I can't hit a green from 150 out, that's a big issue.

30 Stableford points.

Failed to record a score on three holes because of my tee shot on each of them.

4 Pars, 6 Bogies, 5 Doubles, 3 Worse.

Played OK for the most part just a couple of really bad shots cost me. On the second I pushed my drive right found a Sirxon and played it and then realized it wasn't mine several holes latter. On the fourth I pushed my drive into the trees and then chipped out sideways into worse trouble and had to take a drop. On the thirteenth I took a rescue for safety off the tee and blocked it right out of bounds.
