Shot 95 on a longer and much harder course than i normally play. Found 12/18 perfect tee shots including all 3 par 3's though 3 putted a soul destroying number of times.
Highlight was 2nd hole par 5, about 60 yards back from green on 3rd shot with large tree hanging in front of me.. Punched my 6 up there and watched in excitement as it gently kissed the flag and nestled 6 inches from the cup. 3rd ever birdie but could have been an Eagle!

Played last week. I cannot overstate how awful I am from just off the green. Just absolutely AWFUL. I really need to practice these shots. I swear I'd rather be 100 yards out and hit an easy gap wedge than be like 30 yards off the green. No touch at all.
I am like this but only from the fair way or tight lies. Out the rough I am fine. Only just learnt about "bounce" and truly beleive thats why i have been skulling so much all these years. 60 low bounce wedge on its way!

Played a 36 hole tournament. Have the yips. On the 22nd hole, starting putting with my eyes closes on <5ft putts and didn't miss one.

Pretty poor ball striking, but short game and putting continue to be solid to keep my rounds under 90. That's six straight under 90 now which is a personal best, and index is down to 9.9.

Try looking at the hole next time. Works for me when I'm putting terrible/thinking too much.

Hit 51-49-100

Ground so hard it was like hitting of concrete. Didn't /couldn't take one divot. Pretty much no grass left on greens.
A golf course on a chalk cliff is great in the winter as the drainage is excellent. But in the summer it makes it kind off unplayable.

Goodluck. Playing in a tourney sounds like so much fun.

Back home for the 4th, shot an 85 (44-41) at the course I grew up on and have played hundreds of times, but not for a few years. Front side 44 included a quad on the fifth hole after starting Par-Par-Bogey-Par. Tee shot out of bounds plus a three jack with new putter I was trying out.

36 points. Not to bad on a harder course than i am used to. Even though it was only 1 shot worse, i feel i was much better on the front 9. Putting is my downfall. 38 putts. I think that is what stops me from consistently being mid 80's.

Too many 3 puts, and i don't make enough of those 8 footer type length.

5 pars
5 bogeys
4 doubles
2 triples
1 quad
1 quint

33 putts
4 penalties
2 sand strokes
4 fairways
4 greens
1 3-putt

Pretty happy here. Played this course a couple weeks ago and I shaved 12 strokes off my previous score. Did really well to stay away from trouble as best I could all day. Laid up a lot and played for bogey when I thought going for the green was introducing too much risk. Laid up to the 85-95 yard range all day to leave myself a full sand wedge and I liked the results. Probably my best course management round I've ever had. Almost all my layups and punch outs from trouble were smart and well-executed.

Did better from 30 yards off the elevated greens under trees by using a 5i or 7i and just popping it into the side of the green berm and having it bounce up softly onto the green. This shot will be very useful for me if I can get good at it.

Driving the ball really well. Hitting a straight ball flight and getting it out there 230-275 range fairly regularly. Bombs of the day were 298 and 290 center fairway. Picked some great lines today on long doglegs and executed them well. Very comfortable taking aggressive lines just over or just left of water trouble and pulling the shot off. Have to do this one some holes to keep from hitting through the fairway so I was pleased here.

Lagged well, but made NOTHING outside 4'.

Missed my 4 birdie putts of distances: 13', 16', 20', and 30'.
Also missed non-birdie putts of the following distances: 2', 6', 6', 8', 12', 12', 12', and 13'. !!! Feel like I should have accidentally made a few of these and shot 97 but them's the breaks.

2 of these putts I left 2 inches short dead center. The 2 footer I missed was my 3-putt. Left my 13 footer for par 2 feet short then pushed that one. Double. lol.

Stopped standing over my 2 footers and hitting them normal because I always seem to push them. So I had a handful of putts today in the 1-3' range that I just side-saddled and popped in the hole nonchalantly. Made all of them. Too tense on those "must makes".

One hole I played almost the perfect hole for me, had I made the birdie putt. Very short 446 yard par 5 but a dogleg with water all along the inside of the dogleg and more water short of the green. Took a relatively aggressive line with my driver and hit it dead straight down the fairway, just left of the water. Ball settled 10 feet from the blue 200-yards-out pole. Yeah, I can carry 200 yards with a good hybrid strike but the fairways were baked and I was trying to play conservative/smart. So I pulled my P-wedge and hit it about 125 right up to the middle of the fairway, leaving me about 80 yards out, or a pretty stock sand wedge. Hit a pure sand wedge to 13 feet. Left the slight uphill putt like 2 feet short lol. Had I drained this putt for birdie this would have possibly been my best hole ever played (mental + execution), but pars are always good.

Finally broke 80 for the first time since November. Missed 2 makable eagle putts though, and am still smarting over them. One I left 2' short from 15' really hurt. The other finished next to the hole from about 30'.

Stretch from 5 approach through 8 is what really cost me a lower score. Hit a 7I 15-20 yards further than I usually do on the approach on 5, so was dead long. Was in jail long again on 6 after punching from woods. Lost a ball off the tee on 7 which is a gettable par 5, and was blocked out on 8.

11 bogeys
2 doubles
1 birdie
4 pars

Just an awful round. Only hit 7 fairways and 4 greens. Took 34 putts, and it would have been more but for a chip-in on 10.

My last two rounds have been in the 70s, which I had never done twice in a row before. Why not hop out there today and make it three in a row? Yeah, right.

Driver was off. Irons were off. Chipping was off. I wasn't spraying it all over the place, and distances were good, but I just couldn't keep it on target. Days like today are more frustrating than total meltdowns, I think, because the shots were close enough that I know the game is there, I just wasn't executing.

Shot 41-42 at Siena in Vegas. All pars and bogeys. Not a particularly good round, ball-striking wise, and I had three awful three-puts. I can't remember having a round without a dbl-bogey, though, so I guess that's good.

Really don't like that course, either...but it was only $29.

Broke 90 for the first time yesterday. 1.5 months after breaking 100.
86 (39-47)

Was on fire on the first 9 (my course only has 9 holes so I usually go around twice)
shot 39 (+4). 6 pars, 2 Bogeys, 1 double. Missed a really short putt and 1 ball barely bounced in the water hazard on me, so it could have been even better.

Second 9 was not very good with a 47. It was hot and humid out there and I ran out of focus and energy a bit.

Still enough to squeeze out a great score and improve my personal best by 7 strokes from 93.

This is my third year playing, but I've played twice as many rounds this year already than in the previous 2 combined. Been out around 30 times this year so far, working afternoons and nights has it's perks in the summer.

Never had any lessons so far but looking to take some as soon as I can afford it.

My local course is a small and easy 9-hole track (66.8/111, ~5500 from the whites) so the scores might be a bit better than they really are, but it's well kept, 15 mins from my place and I got a season ticket there so the plan is 3x18 a week.

Where do you play? Your story sounds like mine (minus my low), and the weather and course you describe sounds just like where I play.

Played my first Handicap Match Club Championship - won on the 20th hole. Annoying to play versus a good 11 handicapper, he had a lot of shots on me.

Started my round today with 3 different 3 putts in a row to go bogey, double, bogey. I figured out something I was doing wrong with my distance control on my lag putts at that point and parred the next 2. Then I momentarily forgot how to hit an iron and dunked not one, but 2 shots into the drink on the next hole (a par 3) on the way to a nice quad, leaving me at +8 through 6. Finished par, birdie, par for a neat +7 42 with 6 GIR (and pin high 5 feet off the green in regulation on a 7th), lol.
