93 @ a local muni, first round in a LONG time.

Driver: switched back to my old Spalding alliance and every drive was 250, in the fairway. My 540xd is being repaired and i hit that like 275+ in the trees.....

Long and short irons were horrible, I had maybe 1 or 2 GIR's, gotta work on that....

Last thursday had the privledge of embarrassing myself by playing at Reflection Bay in Vegas...

...Easily best and nicest course I have ever ever played, the range balls were way better than the ones I planned on losing throughout the cours...and lose I did 21 of them to be exact....

...I hit 1 good straight drive the entire time and could find no consistency

I ended up shooting a generous 131 from the blues, making me feel like quitting...the one hope I had was I played with a good friend of mine from out there shot a [censored] 76 and made me want to aspire to ever be that good

Great golf course in the Portland area, Quail Valley. It's actually outside of Portland a ways, which is nice, because despite being the second-best value/public course in the area, it is NEVER crowded. Played nine holes, shooting a 41 with a TRIPLE on nine. Nine is a really tough hole, and I tried to tin cup it across the water when I probably still could have parred by playing it safe. Second time in a row I have scored poorly on the ninth and it has pushed me above 40.

Preemptive TL;DR....

Mark it on your calendars, September 12 2007, I beat my friend Scott for the first time ever.

Scott was #1 golfer at a D3 school(2 years ago), and he normally gives me a shot a hole, but he has been revamping my swing for the past 3 months. He unleashed a monster.

Woke up at 9am today to play a crappy Seattle city par 3 course(Interbay), I was none too enthused as I usually go to bed around 3 and wake up at noon.

I'm still sleeping as we tee off, I bogey the first, and double the second, but then something clicks and I ring off 6 straight pars. Scott hits every single green, but misses 5 putts <10 feet, and going into the 135yd 9th we are tied at +3. I tee off first and hit a pretty good wedge, leaving myself about 20 feet, but Scott steps up and sticks his 9iron to 7 feet.

But I have ice water in my veins and drain my birdie, no doubt about it, from there I knew it was over, Scott pulls it left, the crowd goes wild

My home course, last round shot a 90. With my 17.6 hcp, that's a handicap diff of 20.

I'm focusing on getting down to 31-32 putts a round. Had 36 putts with three 1 putts and three 3 putts, both of which are unusual. I guess getting rid of 3 putts will be like getting rid of double bogeys.

I also counted the times that I was less than 10 yds off the green. This happened 11 times and my three 1 putts were from this situation, so I was 3/11 for getting up and down.

4/14 fairways hit.

5/18 girs.

Par 3's. Hit 2/4 greens. Total 16 strokes.

I picked up a membership at the local golf course yesterday (Kiskiack /Traditional Clubs in Williamsburg, VA) and signed up for some lessons. I've played a round once in my life back in high school and have been to the driving range a few times but other than that have no golf experience.

Today I had my first lesson with the Head Golf guy and I enjoyed it / felt I learned a bit. Man there are a ton of little things to keep straight when trying to learn the swing. We're doing weekly lessons for the next five weeks.

Afterwards a friend of mine met me up there and we played 9 holes. I started off pretty poorly but felt like I got into a rhythm a few holes into it and managed to par a par 4 on my way to shooting a 65.

I had a great time though and now that I've got this membership hopefully I'll be able to get up there quite a bit and work on my game.

A par on your second round ever is pretty impressive IMO.

Some course in St. Louis. 56-48-104. Better than last round's 122, but much shorter course. Back at it tomorrow, hoping for better things.

Different, but similar course, also short. Both courses 6,000 yards. Slightly berret front nine. 42-48-90. Obviously pretty happy with that result.

48-42. Missed a 5 footer on 18 to break 90 for the first time in forever. Putted badly all day.

Same course, shot a 84 for my second best score ever and had only 31 putts. Par on 10 holes, including 2 hardest hcp-wise.

7 One putts
2 Three putts
Got up and down 6 out of 9 times when less than 10 yds off the green.

4/14 Fairways hit.
3/18 gir

The low fir/gir and high up and downs and 1 putts are somewhat misleading. The course was hard and dry. I hit a lot of greens that rolled off the back that under normal conditions would have held my shot.

But who cares, really. I'll keep working on my putting (I had 3 putts that were under 6 inch tapins) and try to get more consistent off the tee, which I feel is as much mental as anything.

i hit my 3 iron exceptionally well today - 8 of 12 fairways at 210 yards consistently.

and then i took seven thousand shots to get on the green and 3 putted probably four times.

very nice!

Got thru 16 holes before dusk killed us. 46-45-91. 2nd time playing that course and first round I shot 52-49-101, so about the same.

I had two blowup holes on the back that destroyed my card, both long par 4's, both 8's. I hit water twice on one of them, costing me $50 to kyleb and Entity.

I just decided I'm going back tomorrow to shoot better instead of working.

Haha that course rules. Played there during a bachelor party a few summers ago. Shot a 33 on the back including an eagle on 18, but to be fair we played one up since the other three weren't very good. Also, shot a 45 on the front so those numbers do not add up to 71.

Love the course. Hopefully you are a pro or something and didn't have to pay $240 or whatever.

lol 45-33, that is awesome. You prob either started drinking on the back or started to sober up on the back..
I know the pro, no green fees . Saw Negreanu and Eric Lindgren playing there the time before

dtf,

I won't bore you with the details other than to say I made a really stupid quad on #2 (pull hooked it over the water into some crap and flailed around) and absolutely killed a drive on #8...only to have it absolutely t-bone the huge tree in the middle of the fairway and kick back like 50 yards. Heh. Then something clicked at the turn and I think I hit every green on the back.

Next time you're out there ask the pro about realigning the 9th hole. We were told they were going to run it alongside the lake. If you look at it from a satellite shot, that makes perfect sense as that's where the parking lot is currently. What a waste of waterfront. Just flip-flop the 9th and the parking lot and you'll have a much better hole. Also, that was the hole I probably liked the least - I seem to remember it being a very sharp dogleg and you need to either play a fade or hit a layup which leaves you a long way in.

EDIT: to add pic so you can see what I'm talking about. Also, you can see the evil tree on 8 in the shot.

They have been planning moving #9 to lakeside for years now. The parking lot that is on the lake is probably the biggest waste of real estate in lake tahoe.

The master plan is to rearrange 7, 8, and 9, to get 9 on the water. 7 will be a par 4, 8 a par 3 and 9 a par 4 along the water, moving the parking lot.

But I doubt the Park family (Owners) will ever put up the money for the changes. I bet it only happens if Edgewood gets sold.

I find this all very interesting. I don't know why they feel the need to redo 7 and 8 though - the seventh is an interesting par 3 and the eighth is an interesting par 4 with the hell tree and the double green (assuming they still use both). The only reason to do this would presumably to put the 9th tee alongside the water, so I'm guessing they would make 7 a dogleg left ending somewhere around the existing 8th green, and then run a par 3 straight at the water. That requires moving a lot of dirt (assuming they even own that land) so I can see why it could be expensive.
