Taped my last round's swings w/ thanks to a friend... my swing is insanely flat right now, my lag is crazy nonexistant, and my left arm gets bent at like a 40 degree angle. Incredibly bad. The ranges at my local courses have yet to let us hit off grass so I refuse to pay for hitting balls off plastic mats, but once we can actually hit real shots I'll be trying to fix this stuff

Nothing worse than trying to figure something out with your swing playing off a mat, I would be playing off the grass anyway

Then again, its easy to do that at my course

EDIT: 73 today, meh round, missed 6 drives badly left, putting not quite there either so happy enough with 73

Normal service was resumed. 26 Stablford points no score because I lost a ball on the easy par five seventeenth.

2 Pars, 6 Bogeys, 5 Doubles, 5 Worse.
2 FIR, 2 GIR, 33 Putts from 17 greens

I honestly didn't hit full shots that much worse then on Friday but where nearly every putt dropped on Friday nothing did today. 3 three putts today and not one single one putt. My short game was also a little worse so on average first putts where longer but still not enough to explain it. I wish id record a score but after recovering from a bad drive I had about one sixty, one seventy to the green and blocked it right into some nasty rough I kept a close eye on it and though id be able to find it but it was nowhere to be seen.

Ditto. Played Friday, absolutely bombed my driver on the range. Got out on the course, couldn't hit it worth a damn, didn't break 100.

Do some math with that and multiply by .96 and voila. Looks like you'd be around a "19.2", assuming a 72/113 (average) rating/slope.

Of course if you are gambling you would be pretty foolish to not bargain for more strokes, based on your scores.

Here's a link. I'm assuming you are in the USA. If a Euro then your HC will be higher as I think they use all scores as source data. And not just best 10 of last 20. Or best 1 of 5 in your case. It steps up the more rounds you log.
Appreciate this, thanks, Im uk.

On golf note hopefully play my first round of year within the next week or 2. cant wait

Range let us hit off grass! Had a good productive session today. Ballstriking isn't where it normally is for me but i got to work on my tempo and alignment which fixed a ton of problems (funny how that often fixes so much).

First post here but I shot a 40 on the front at Wild Quail in Delaware today. Hit the ball amazing but somehow only hit 2/9 greens so I was scrambling pretty hard. Probably would've been better but the greens are punched so putting was difficult.

I am a CPA so I worked Saturday from 8:30 - 7pm. Drove to my local card room and played 2 5 NL from 8 - midight (did very well) ... got up at 6 after 4.5 hours sleep...teed off at 7:15 and shot 38 (+2) on front (missing three 2.5 footers) added a 40 (+4) on back for 78 (another 78 in this thread of scores.)

I sure wish I were back in my 20's and not in my 50's

Chip, would you say pretty much all CPAs work those hours during tax season? My accountant just told me the hours he's working and it blew me away. I'm guessing you get a nice cutoff in hours after april 17th this year...I hope. Anyway GG on the poker and on the golf!

I played about 4.5 holes tonight (only get about an hour of light after work) but I ended up buying the new Rocketballz 3-metal I'd been testing out. I hit about 3 or four different configurations of it and finally settled on one. Now I get to wait for our club's demo day to buy some new wedges.

How have you found it and what 3 wood did you have previously?

Semi thinking of investing in a new 3 wood, have had the original v-steel for ages...

Played 9 yesterday. short game is still rusty/terribad. 2 two-chips and only 1 up and down. 3 GIR, 4 GIR+1, 2 two-chips. both lead to doubles. but hey, no 3 putts.

But tee to green was pretty solid. No severe mis hits. Hit 3 of 6 fws and missed 2 by a yard or two. A 43 that could have been better.

Shot 78 here (71.2/134) a couple of days ago (2 birdies, bunch of pars, some bogies, 3 3-putts, and lol quad on #3). Greens were aerated a week or so ago, so kind of bumpy out there. Went to range one time this year a few weeks ago, but other than that, it was the first time swinging the club since last October/November. Drove the ball great, which is pretty much the only reason I did well. This game is a whole lot easier when you're 150 from the fairway on every hole. Unfortunately, it's all downhill from here for the rest of year. Can't wait for the charity scramblements season coming up.

Sunday:

43-44-87 at Asheboro Municipal, Asheboro NC. Donald Ross 9 holer, went around twice. Nothing fancy about the course but I liked it. Nice warmup. Bad short game.

43-41-84 at The Carolina, Whispering Pines NC. Palmer design, pretty wide open. More short game woes.

Monday:

38-47-85 at Anderson Creek, Spring Lake NC. Davis Love design. Nice course. Made a slew of doubles on the back as my short game completely fell apart.

43-40-83 at Deercroft, Wagram NC. Nice layout that's suffered from years of neglect. New ownership and greenkeeper looks like it's making a difference but it's still a little rough. Smart of them to get the greens right first. Finally started putting better.

Tuesday:

40-40-80 at Mid Pines, Southern Pines NC. Ross design and the 2nd most beautifully maintained course I've ever seen (after Augusta National). It is hard to imagine how the course could have been in better shape. Tons of flowering trees and bushes in full bloom. Nice elevation change. Finally got the short game mostly sorted and I got up and down about a million times.

18th hole at Mid Pines, from the fairway

45-40-85 at Southern Pines Golf Club, Southern Pines NC. Another Ross design and one of my five favorite golf courses in the world (courses played division). It's not conditioned as well as Mid-Pines but the design is about as good. What can I say, I really like Ross courses.

From what I've read, Ross designed 36 holes for Southern Pines. Only 27 were built and for some reason one of the nines was abandoned some years ago. I wonder why – you can still see where those holes were and there are still a few stone tablets standing that identify the tees.

Wednesday:

40-42-82 at Legacy, Aberdeen NC. Jack Nicklaus II design. Definitely more in the modern style but a nice course. Fairways were a little shaggy and there were some patchy spots. Greens were re-done last year in the same dwarf bermuda variety that's now at East Lake and they are fantastic. This is the future of greens in the South. They rolled super true and were nice and quick.

Hated to leave. Great weather, course conditions were the best we've ever seen – most of the bermuda was out of dormancy which I don't think is typical on April 1. All of the greens were in great shape. Most of our rounds took about 3.5 hours as a twosome – we never got paired with anybody – and we essentially never waited on a shot other than at Deercroft where we played behind a couple groups playing a scramble (and still finished in 4 hours).

Driver was good for early in the season. Irons were solid early but really tailed off – I am not compressing the ball and the short irons in particular just go nowhere. I hit an 8 iron late in the round Wednesday that went about 90 yards. Pitching and chipping was horrible as usual other than during my round at Mid Pines and a few times that afternoon. Putting went from awful the first two days to incredible the last two. I probably one putted 20 times at least in the last 54 holes. Four birdies total.

Was hoping to play the Dormie Club, the Crenshaw/Coore design that's been getting rave reviews and will probably go ultraprivate very soon but elected to pass. One greens fee exclusive of caddy would have been more than we paid for six afternoon rounds elsewhere.

Total disaster today on the links. Started off par par and ended up +24 over the final 16 holes shooting a 96. Did not have time to warm up Struggled to get in a rhythm with bro-in-law started off with 12 11 14 on the first 3 holes. This will be an allstar weekend as i will be getting out sat and sunday.

MY GODDAMN ELBOW WON'T STOP HURTING, SINCE LAST AUGUST NOW.

but...last two rounds 79-77. 77 included being +2 thru 13, which is pretty unreal for me on my home course which is 7k yards, 73.5/132 or something and the last 5 holes are the easy ones. Called my shot from the bunker....bro in law said he thought my ball plugged in the lip, got up to it, it was fine and i said "yep, nice little makeable bunker shot"....made it. First holed out bunker shot in like 3 years. Unfortunately the chip yips which I have been working extremely hard on for years to get rid of made an ugly appearance. +5 thru 16, and I am chipping for eagle from the fairway and yipped so bad I hit the ground a foot in front of the ball and it bounced over the ball seriously. Got up and down for par, but jesus i thought that was gone forever.

Played 9 today in 41 degrees Fahrenheit and 22 mph wind. Shot 41 (par 36) and was pretty happy about it in spite of 2 3-putts and a horrible double. Greens are in absolutely awful shape after what has actually been a very very mild winter

Highlights included hitting driver, hybrid, hybrid on what is a reachable par 5 in the summer with calm wind, hitting driver short on a par 3 and hitting 7-iron from both 143 and 180 yards

Another blow up round. My game has gone to garbage since the 78 last Sunday. I dont have any sense of direction where the ball will go. Missing greens from 70 yards away.
48-48=96

Spent 1.5 hrs before the rounds hitting balls and 2hrs after the round looking for answers. Thinking about taking up some lessons. How one has an 8.3 handicap and has blown up 2 consecutive rounds is frusterationg. Nobody said golf was easy. Back to the grind tomorrow morning at 730am Pinecrest Golf Club Huntley.

played pretty good today was in a doubles match, we took a early lead going like 3 up and then they managed to get it back to square then we halved a couple then we end up going 4 up they get back to even and then we win last 2 holes .

Good thing is when either of us had a bad hole the other did pretty good on it. 1 of the guys we played holed so many putts pretty good for a 20 handicap and playing the course for the first time.

Overall played pretty good hit irons much better than I have been seemed to of made something click well for today at least. O I did top my first drive 10 yards left lolz but still won the hole
