No score returned 27 Stablford Points.

2 Pars, 7 Bogeys, 5 Doubles, 4 Worse

2/12 FIR, 1 GIR, 31 putts from 14 greens

Thick thick fog meant it probable wasn't safe to play but we did anyway.
Started well with a fairway, fairway, green, two putts, par. Then on the second I was in a bunker just short of the green and caught it totally flush sending it miles to long and ending any chance of recording a score. On the 12th I had a four foot bogey putt that caught the right edge and travelled 360 degrees round the hole with out dropping.
Oh and I blobbed the 6th again that's four times in a row.

84 on par 68 suppose this is alright, but seriously having trouble with distance back before I started having lessons I was probably hitting a 9iron 135-145 now I think I've lost like 20-30 yards on each club, everything is going so high. I'm only happy when I slightly thin a shot and it has a more penetrating flight on it, but then I'm disappointed that I knifed it a little.

I do not want to blame my equipment or anything but every one of my shafts is a regular do you think this a problem? I feel I swing pretty fast. I don't want to go to my pro because I feel he is pretty bad and likes to do more joking than taking my lesson seriously.

Post a swing video UnitedAs1, no way can anyone really say otherwise. Also clubhead speed is really really hard to guess at unless you are a very good player (I'm not), people usually confuse fast tempo for fast speed, without measurement its not worth speculating.

47-51-98

(par 70)

Second and third times breaking 100. And it didn't even seem like I was playing that well. Started off with a triple, then six straight doubles, then two bogeys on the front nine of my first round. Two bogeys and two doubles to start the back nine, then two pars and a birdie in the last five holes. Really happy with the fact that I played bogey golf on the back.

Next round's front nine started off okay. There's a nasty 566-yard par-5 which was playing into the wind and I parred it for the first time ever. Had a couple of nice up-and-downs to save par or bogey. Back nine wasn't that great. 3-putted two of the last three holes.

I'm happy with the results, but it was a strange day. On the range I was hitting a draw with a driver when I usually hit a fade/slice. And on the course, I was mostly drawing them, and I managed to adjust decently enough. My fairway woods were almost always snap hooks--I think I caught one 5-wood solid off the deck, and that was about it. My irons were lousy. The one good iron shot I had was an 8-iron to 7 feet. Full wedge shots were mediocre, pitching was pretty good, but the key was that I was chipping well and making a ton of 4-6 footers. And I managed to keep the big numbers off the board--3 triple bogeys, and nothing worse than that.

Just got back from Pawleys Island, SC for a week...drove home on Wed. and didnt hit a bit of traffic the entire time on 95 north, I was shocked.

With the exception of getting run off the road by an 80 year old woman who was directly across from us on a 2 lane highway type road and switched lanes., it was a good trip. Luckily my friend was driving (he was a marine, and a Humvee driver in Afghanistan, and am convinced this is what saved us from a serious accident), he kept his cool the entire time and was literally staring at the side of her car while slowly moving us over to the shoulder. We were going 50 on the dirt with mailboxes whizzing by us. When we pulled up next to her at the next light, she had absolutely no clue what we were talking about...that was the scariest part.

We played Pawleys Plantation (great scenery, awesome layout), Tradition, Indian Wells, Indigo Creek and Willbrook Plantation (3times). Shot 82,82,82,87,88,89,81. Had a chance to shoot 79 at Willbrook but doubled 18 to shoot 81.

Courses were in pretty good shape, Tradition especially. Disappointed we didnt get a chance to play Caledonia and Tru Blue (as thats where we stayed) but they were charging 78 and 92, while we were paying 31 and 33 at Willbrook and Pawleys, which was a steal.

84 on wet, 6000 yard course. fairly easy to avoid penalty strokes

good: irons. must have had 8 good chances at birdie. lag putting. driving (although wouldn't have worked on tighter course)

fair: fairway woods, hybrid, course management, chip/putt later on

poor: 5 to 20 footers for birdies. gawd awful. seeing too much break??? some horrendous chipping and pitching from very wet lie. an 8 should have been a 5' maybe even a 4

work on: huge break through on driving. hopfully just need to. calibrate swing...... hit sharply down on pitches and chips... pace/line/reads onputts

Played Oakhurst Country Club in Clayton, CA earlier this week. Pretty nice track that's 15min from where I live and I'd never even heard of it before. Email special was $59 incl cart and range balls. Greens were fast and excellent condition. There were a couple holes with blind tee shots where course knowledge would've made a very different choice in tee shots. Took a triple on 18 b/c hit driver through fairway, where 5 wood is easily the only choice. Shot 84 , with that triple and 2 other doubles.

FWIW, big driving break-thru yesterday. much stronger grip but square clubface at address so hands pretty far forward. helped on irons too. had hands much further back and proper grip wouold mean extremely closed clubface at address that just didn't feel right

Started golfing this year around May and was consistently shooting in the mid to upper 120s, been about 40 or 50 times since then and have yet to break 100 until today! Shot a 97 (49-48) at the Meadows in MA. My game has improved immensely and am hoping to shoot a par round next year

Didnt play recently just have a beat and maybe a brag that doesn't deserve its own thread.

I have the yips on downhill puts now. I cant seem to hit the ****ing ball straight which is making me want to hit them supper soft. Im trying to die 3' puts into the hole when they are down hill now because I have no confidence. For example my last round I had 6 3-puts. One of which the first put was 3' and down hill.

That is the beat.

The brag is I work with Bobby Grace's brother about 1/2 mile from the factory. I tell his brother that I have the yips (I currently use a Bobby Grace fat lady putter for the last 15 years). Now we are going to take a lunch break down to the factory in the next couple weeks to see if we can get everything fixed.

Unfortunatly the only thing I feel will fix the yips is if I move the ball to 6" away.

****ing downhill puts...

99 for 32 Stableford Points

4 Pars, 6 Bogeys, 3 Doubles, 5 Worse.

5/12 FIR, 4/18 GIR, 36 Putts.

Chipping and pitching were abysmal, I frequently caught the ball very fat. Irons were poor. Oddly fairway woods were the strongest part of my game. Driving was mostly short and straightish with two horrible tops thrown in. Putting was very up and down. I holed two twenty foot putts to save par on holes where id been in trouble and three putted on two holes when I was on in regulation.

Ballsed up the 6th again pulling a seven wood into the trees down the left. That's five times in a row now.

49 on a 9 where i should be shooting low 40's consistently (not huge amount of OB danger)

very wild driving.

a little imprecise with irons.

more muffed pirches/chips from wet, deep rough.

some nice hybrids/FW, sand shots and lagged putts. the good lag putts nearer the end of the 9.

starting to feel importance of FIR and reinforcement of importance of GIR. also importance of extremely precise lag putting. leaving 20-30 footers 4-8 feet away is killing me. maybe more like the 40 footers are 8 feet away

moving to more stiff driver.....

seem to have broken cardinal rule. driving was very good but i tinkered to get it even better but of course it got worse.

Snide remark from guy ("3 group wait and it's wide open ahead of you")

But we ourselves had waited for 2 groups. And he was including our group in his 3 group wait.

Anyway, tilted our group pretty badly. Guy's comment is offside under almost any circumstances. And made worse by the face he didn't know where the next tee was ie. didn't see that group ahead of us.

Played the 2006 ryder cup course today, first time so just went out to enjoy it and try miss all the water, ended up shooting 71, while getting soaked on the back nine. As a links player playing a parkland course short game is so much easier, think I should play this type of course more often!

I hate this game sometimes.

96 on Sunday.

A couple of posts up I mentioned I was a mental midget from <10' so I got to the course 1.5 hours early to practice.

I had 27 total puts on the round and didnt miss a put from <6'. With 2, 3 puts one from 38' and one from 6' (but the pin was just in an ugly location and if you missed the hole you had 10'+ coming back, well I missed the hole on my 1st put).

But my ball striking was horrible. I cant seem to get everything to line up on any round. I'm either good at 1 aspect and bad at another. Or vise versa. I would love to just be good at 1 thing and moderate at the other one day to see how low I can shoot when that happens.

Should probably go in detail since this was my lowest round ever and probably last of the season but I've smoked too many doobers in my life to remember all my shots today.

Shott me an 80 thooooo, 8 scores lower than my next best I believe!

Coarse was Charleston Springs South NJ. From the whites that only played 5900 yards..Haven't played in weeks so I didn't feel like trying to crush it off the tee and **** my body up like I have in the past.

Too bad I shot solo, and when I texted my playing partner he called bull****..oh well what are you gona do.

Watching golf academy on Golf Channel really payed off the last few days.

Went +1, par, +1, par, par, birdie, +1, par, par for my first ever 38.

I had an epiphany during those holes I think and realized that this whole time I've been butchering my scores because of chipping.
I always chunk, or always chip too short or pick the wrong club right outside the green.

Today I said **** it, even from 25 yards, if I had a good amount of fairway, or if I had a chunk of grass infront then fringe, green.. **** it. PUTTT IT.

So I just putted everything I should have chipped.. and my score showed, it worked like crazy. Not 1 three putt on the front 9.
It felt so right, Id just look at the target, take out the ol belly putter..take some practice swings and get my speed. get over the ball, let her rip..left hand toward the pin and bamm. 5 feet every time. I'd never be able to do that chipping, ever.

So back 9 comes around. And heres where I usually doomswitch and suck it up.
Rip a drive on ten that slices on a dogleg right right next to the 11th tee box.

I'm still in pretty good shape here, only 100 yards in some manageable rough but my ball is on a hill so I'm half golf swing, half baseball swinging.

For some reason I am really good at hitting the ball when it's above my feet, bc I swing this 50 degree and my ball flies straight up..does some knuckle ball action but keeps straight for the most part right towards the pin. Lands 5 feet and I'm so amped.. I leave my bag and everything at tee 11 and run with my putter. Miss the 5 footer short by 2 inches..damn, par.

I'm in the zone at this point, when I play alone I start sprinting toward my shots but I kinda had to today bc it was like 3:20 and only had an hour and there was no way I didn't wana finish, not when I'm 2 over after 10 and average in the 90s.

So the 11th tee is a really short par 3. 100 yards. It's only 130 on the blues, but 100 on the whites with a bunker right infront of the green. Slightly uphill with a green that slopes downhill toward the bunker. Pin looks back pretty far. So since I love my 50 and just had a great shot with it I figure I'll use it again.

I tee up a little to add some loft, and rip a sweet one right at the pin.. This bad boys going right at it.. It lands just over top of it, on the top of the green, takes a big splat and starts backspinning toward the hole. I'm looking at this thing and I'm like holy ****.. its ****ing going... GO!!!!

It stops ****in 6 inches short from the hole.. I was not even siked bc that was my shot at a hole in one.. Actually, I was amped and couldn't believe it. Longest backspin on a ball I ever had..

Bogie 12. And check my clock..**** 3:45..gota be done by 4:20 and I feel like there's no way I'm finishin now.

So 13 is a 442 Par 5. I tee up and drive one left, hit's cartpath into the tall grass. I go full sprint and try to find it.. I looked for like 10 minutes, such a stupid idea.. Couldn't find it so I dropped one where I thought I lost it. Hit my 3 hybrid about 20 yards from the hole on the fairway. Take out my putter, and lag one 3 inches from the hole fairway to green. Screw chipping. Save Par.

14. Drive a slice into the tall grass.. (Told myself on 13 I'm not gona **** this round up with my driver and should just go with the irons off the tee or somthing but I like letting the big dog eat) Sprint to the tall grass, find my ball. 0 Practice swings. Hack thru the tall grass. Awful shot, luckily pin was only 100 away and I'm still 25 yards from the hole in the fairway. Take my putter out again, feel the distance with some practice swings, eyes over the ball..let her rip. 4 feet from hole..nice. Run up to the ball, practice swing, putt..miss. ****. Bogie.

Run to 15. Tee up, hit a 4i dead straight but the fairway goes left then right and I'm in the light rough next to a pond. Run to my ball, 160 away, take 6i, 0 practice swings, let her rip. Dead left, ball gone. ****. Drop one. Hit it again. Chunk. It goes about 140. So I'm left on the fairway with 20 yards to go. Decide not to putt this time and go with a 7iron chip.. I thought I was good at those. So I chip it, hit it too hard into the rough fringe. Shoulda putted. Chip the 56 to 4 ft from there. Make Putt. First double of the day.

Getting dark at this point and I'm pissed off bc I just went bogie, par, bogie, double and I decide to stop running. My knees are killing me and my golf bag was raddling so much on my back it was giving me a headache. Plus I hadn't drinken water the whole round and finally at 16 I saw a jug to fill up my empty container. It's like 4:10 at this point and I get to 16 and relax for a few seconds, drink water and tee it up. Realize this is probably it, not trying to finish and I'll call it quits before I get all pissed and wreck the good vibes I have left going into next year.

16. Tee up, hit a 4iron straight into fairway. Nice.. Light jog it to the ball. Whip out the 3w, only swung it once before so gota give it some love. Hit a nice fade that lands on fairway. I'm like 60 yards from the hole and I whip out my Pwedge. Not a huge fan of the PW but I like to get my moneys worth with all my clubs I guess. I hit it, chunk, ball goes 20. Leave my bag there, bc 17s green is next to it and I bring my 9,8,7,PW, Putter with me. I decide to putt this 20 yarder where there is so much fairway left no1 in there right mind would putt. But thats my style today and I'm stickin to it. I rip a putt and it goes wayy to far. Stays on the green but I leave myself with like a 45 foot left to right breaking putt. Putting was a bad choice. So I run up all pissed and **** and eye out my break.. Make a few practice swings and putt away. What a ****ing putt, perfect speed, perfect half ass read.. goes straight in the hole, pin still in and all. SAVE PAR. OHH Yea, this round aint over yet.

Run to 17. Par 3, 145. Hit my 9i, I slice it a little to front fringe. Run up, lag putt to about 5 foot. Save par.

Grab my **** and run to 18. About 4:20 now, time really felt like it slowed down bc it wasn't even that dark yet. Whip out the 3w, perfect fade on the fairway. About 145 to the pin. I take out my PW again, swing away and thin the **** out of it. Goes dead straight at the pin but super low, hits the back green and luckily stops right in the rough just after the fringe. So now I have a downhill green and easy chip for the normal golfer.. What I want to do is putt over this rough bc I can't chip.. I go against my gut and chip anyway with my 50.. Leave it super short, but at least I didn't chunk. 2 putt for bogie.

Finish with a 42 on the back and an 80 on the round...

From the wise words of Arnold Palmer to Jack Nicklaus, If you can putt..putt!!!

congrats on the 80.....

chunked chips/pitches/etc. have been the most consistent score killer for me too

my best 9 holes ever were in a mad dash to finish the round before dark. maybe something to it. faster tempo?
