I've had to use a glove recently for my driver as well. My hands have been sweating so much in this heat. I need to get my driver regripped so that this isn't necessary.

Also, tzwien, your penalty strokes are on the wrong hole... unless you count all strokes using a putter as putts and hit a putter of the box.

Shot a +8 for an 80 today. One of my best rounds ever even though I shot a 10 on a par 5 (two water hazards). Had 3 eagle attempts all inside 15 feet but made none. One of those eagle attempts came in a par 4 dogleg left 360 yards, slight downhill. Came 10 feet from the pin. 3 putted 4 times but can't complain since I usually 3 putt at least 6 times a round. I hate putting.

51 - 53 - 104

Im very frustrated... though the new hinge & hold I am using is a lot easier, my long irons were crap and I missed every FW even though some were just off or through doglegs again...

I got a par on 3 of the par 5s, 2 of them being errant tee shots leaving me no angle to the green so I punched out perfect and then 1 putted..... but of course I went bogey 2 doubles and a triple on the 4 par 3s..

My blow up hole was an easy 377 yd par 4, pull it left and lost off the tee, next shot draws into a tree line then I hit the best AW I ever have from 110 and it bounces off the back of the green ... and lost in the trees for 3 lost balls and an 8.

Aside from rounds I need for my league I am going to try not to keep score just to have fun and relax

38/38-76 at James Baird SP and 39/40/39 at Beekman GC.

The 76 is probably the best round Ive played in my life...the fairways were burnt so I was getting an extra 10-20 yards on every drive, which helped as the course plays pretty long. Finally had a day where my mid irons did not kill me...Ive played real well off the tee, and I am on a serious putting heater, so to give myself so many birdie opportunities felt real good. I made three birdies, but had 12 birdie putts and only had one three putt.

Played 4 consecutive days, and it has been hot!! Gotta take tomorrow off and recuperate.

Just calculated my handicap for the first time today. Over my last 20 full rounds (going back to April), I'm a 21. Going back my last 10 rounds, I'm a 17.

Playing really well recently. Since my first round under 90, I've played a bunch where I felt like a really BAD score was a 92. Feels good to average bogies for real (I've been claiming to do that for years out of laziness and shame).

Yesterday shot 71 - level par with 1 bogey and 1 birdie. Played solid enough just could not really hole anything outside 6foot.

Today 72 - +1 with no birdies and the 1 bogey. Same as above while on the putting. Solid from 6 foot, just starting to think I am not holing as much as I should or I am just not shoving it as close as I want.

Just got new wedges so I'll give it a few weeks but was rolling in birdies for fun after hitting my old ones so I do not think it will be too much to worry about.

Yesterday scored an ugly 100 on a hilly 6900 72.1/133 in an amateur hdcp-adj tourney, I'm a 17 hdcp. One playing partner was a very fit 71 yr old 4 handicapper. After the rd he told me my head moves more than a hookers does in a whore house. Went to the range with him, my driver and 6 iron only. He held my head still while I hit about 50 balls.

Today I scored an 81 on a (much easier) flat 6500 69.9/125 with no lost balls.

I'll be back on the course next weekend for sure.

Played a 2 man event this weekend, format change every 9 holes.

We were -1 in scramble, +9 (lol) in alternate shot, -8 in net one best ball and E in total aggregate net. Finished something like 4th overall, won a small prize for our score in 1 best ball. If I didn't putt like a blind man we had a shot.

Edit: After a couple weeks of sh***ing every bunker shot I actually hit one straight today ... straight and about 30 yards longer than it needed to be. FAIL.

Plus 9 on alternate shot Booker? Reminds me of playing alt shot w a much better player. Before the round he dumped a couple dozen balls in the practice bunker because he knew he'd be there all day, lol.

Lemme guess...pre-rd you guys had a gameplan w the better golfer planned to drive the tougher holes while underestimating how bad the lesser golfers tee game would be?

LOL, our pre-round game planning was more along the lines of "which do you hate more, the odd holes or the even holes?"

It's brutal having to start the day playing alternate shot, stone cold with no warm up and waiting on every ****ing shot. I flared two drives DEEP into the woods and it cost us about six shots ... but then again we also made a double from a perfect drive in the middle of the fairway.

The best shot I hit all day yesterday was the 6 foot putt I drilled into the back of the cup for a 9 on the third hole of alternate shot.

Todays round proved how much nutrition and being tired can affect play...

8 hour drinking bender last night, average night of sleep followed by a granola bar, candy bar, a handful of potato chips and some water before the round and only some water and peanuts during the round lead to this

48 - 51 - 99

I started off well at least but then just had nothing left in the tank, got lazy and my slice crept back in along with lapsing on my short game in regards to ball position and just an awful putting day.

Went bogey, par, bogey, bogey to be 3 over through 4 holes which is probably my best start in a long time/ever... I did miss 3 par putts in that string though.

Then I yank a driver into some trees putting my self in jail and have to punch out which I do putting me in the center of the FW with about 135 left. I yip a 9i badly right, hit a bad pitch from 50yds finaly get on and 2 putt for a triple to piss me off... I did follow it up with a par on a 490yd par 5 to get me back on track but double the next hole.

Then I get stupid on a par 3 after slicing a 5i on a 185yd hole leaving me behind a tree I try to hit a towering flop shot with my SW (I hate my SW and rarely hit flops) but I blade it and go over the green, then i ****ing blade a chip over again before I finaly put it on and 2 putt for a triple... I pretty much mentally ****ed up the hole as I should have hit an easy 4h or just punch from behind the tree then pitched on and could have saved 1-2 strokes.

I end with a bogey after pushing a driver but then bombing my 14deg hybrid (I hit it well all day, like really well... I just stood a little closer and swung it much more like and iron as opposed to like a wood) I hit a great wedge from 20yds out to 10 feet and 2 putt for a bogey and a 48 that should have been a 42-43 If I eliminated my mental mistakes and awful putting today (2.1putts per hole today when Ive had 1.83 and 1.94 on the same course previously)

I was confident going into the back that I would get my best round of the year..

I open up the back with a sliced driver but hit a solid 4h to leave me 120 out on a 495yd par 5 but struggle from there and 3 putt for a triple to open.... I power fade my next drive but it gets lost in some bushes/trees BUT its a bird sanctuary and the course has it marked for a free drop so I catch a break but hit a worm burner, then pull an iron but chip on and make my only 1 putt of the day from 20ft to come back with a bogey.

I then go back to back doubles on meh par 4s as I really start to feel just worn out and tired between the previous mentioned issues and the high 80s heat thats been hammering me for hours at this point.

I then get to my nemesis hole, a 390yd par 4 with no room on the right side since its all OB with houses, water and scattered trees all on the landing area. I of course leak it into the trees, Im not in jail at this point and can either punch out and advance it a good 80-120 yds or I can go for it but I need to get up fast over a tree, obviously I chose the tree and paid for it with the weirdest sounding result of all time. It goes through the top of the tree clean but like a second later I hear a thunk and hit an invisible tree... yes I mean invisible because there was nothing behind the tree I went through and the ball ended up under a pine tree and I had to hit my 2nd left handed 4iron punch shot of the year (this one was really good actually as I advanced it a good 50yds) ... at this point I have a 130yd par putt but decide to hit a 9 that I just get lazy tired on and hit terrible, followed by a short pitch before getting on and 3 putting for what would be 9 or 10 but of course I get an 8 so I catch a break there.

I closed strong with a bogey on a par 3, then a solid par where I get a FIR, GIR and 2putt.. I then double bogey a par 3 but realized why my wedges had fallen apart (ball was in a bad spot in stance with new hinge and hold Ive been doing)

I rally back on a 468yd par 5 after pulling my drive I hit a tired hybrid right but hit it on and 2putt for par and a 99.

For hitting 5 FWs and 4 GIRs I expected to score much better but missing 6 par putts and having 3 3putts adds up... hopefully Ive turned a corner with this round

40-40/80 at Maple Moor...Played real solid, although I did let the wheels come off on 18, thinking I needed a par to break 80. Made a real stupid error trying to hit a long iron off a side hill lie when the right play is to punch it out to 100 and try to make a tough par. Ended up making double, and only need a bogey.

Continue to putt the lights out...lip out a 50 footer on 3 for birdie, and then come back with a 40 footer on 4 to save par. I keep thinking Im on a serious heater, but each round I play, I continue to make very long putts. I still need some work inside 10 feet though, as there is one or two putts per round that I zone out on speed.

42.

Same small course as usual, too hot to play a real course. Score doesn't do justice at how I played. 8 on one par 4 which included hitting a tree twice on two different punch outs by sheer dumb luck. 5 on another par 4....where I had a 3 putt :/. And then a double bogey in between those two par 4's on a par 3. 3 putted :/. But 2 pars made me feel good.

It's my lowest round to par (1.33 bogeys per hole) but it felt awful. Chunked a tee shot that did not touch the ball. Shot again, same result but hit it ~80yds. Mi**** my tee shot on the snowman hole as well, and badly. Was leaving too many putts short. How'd I do better than usual then? My 7/8irons were on fire today, and ironically I pitched and chipped better than I ever have.

Went up north to Whitby for a couple of days and played Whitby GC.
The first nine holes and the last two are links with the cliffs running along the left hand side. The North west wind was blowing hard and I had to re-tee my ball half a dozen times on the first because it kept blowing off.
The wind died down gradually but I was still pretty pleased to record a 49+47=96
3 Pars, 10 bogeys,3 doubles, 2 triples (back to back)
FIR 5/15
GIR 3/18
Putts 43 ( inc from off the green )
Sadly I screwed up the 18th. My second shot was a top all of twenty yards but after two good approach shots I still had a flat seven foot putt from just off the green for par but I ran the ball four foot past the hole and then missed that.

I have been absent this season though striking the ball quite well...

Today's story is just funny. Playing a twosome and at the turn a twosome comes up behind us. The group in front is S-L-O-W so I invite the two to join us. I was not really paying attention.

One guy is wearing black pants, a New Orleans Saints golf shirt, New Orleans Saints hat and New Orleans Saints golf shoes. He is tall and lean and super duper ultra serious. He did every annoying thing.

Taking out the yardage scope every shot and gauging the distance.

Oh the practice swings. Oh the walking off pitch shots around the green.

Commenting on what went wrong on each and every swing as soon as the ball took flight.

The best was bringing a towel onto the green to clean his ball before putting every hole. He would walk around behind the hole to get a good look. Look at it from the side. Etc. etc. etc. usually missing badly(he was not a good putter). Then he finally makes a birdie and runs it out with a fist pump and "yes yesssss!"

It was just too much.

BTW I shot 40 on the back in half the time it took him to shoot 42. Meh.

P.S. The foursome in front of us finished a hole clear of us.

44-46 - 90

...best round Ive ever had ... Ill try and recap bits and pieces but I ****ING WASHED THE SCORECARD when I forgot it in my back pocket and its a front load washer and I remembered it right away but it wouldnt unlock

From memory I put together what I think is like 95% accurate:
http://www.oobgolf.com/golfers/score.php?id=1676919

4FWs
6GIRs
5 1 putts... easily my best putting day ever. Hammered home some 20footers and when I missed I juuuuust missed. Plus only 1 3putt and it was from ~40ft and on a green that seemed way slower than every other one
2 birdies
5 pars
4 bogeys, 5 doubles and 2 triples

I played a large chunk of the course alone, holes 1-3 alone then paired up with a 2some for a hole then another single caught up to make it a 4some. One guy was done after 9, the other 2 played til 12 then they skipped to 18 and I finished out alone with the last 4 holes behind a 4some that wouldnt let me pass (more on this later)

Par 4 380yds - Slice a drive, top a hybrid then am right with an 8i, followed by a standard pitch and 2 putt for a double so at this point doesnt feel any different

Par 3 136yds - Ive been successful at punching a 9i since I spray my wedges something awful but I cut a slice into it and punch on but leave myself ~20 feet and roll it in for a par and a little smile

Par 5 473yds - I hit a nicely drawn Driver off the tee but too bad its a dogleg right which doesnt help, I hit a mediocre 2nd shot put pitch and 2 putt for par (I think, I may have 1putted here or something but cant remember put definitely was a par)

...at this point I catch up with a 2some in front of me and they allow me to join up

Par 4 331yds - I hit a 180yd worm burner, then blade an 8i followed by a skulled chip, then chip it over then finally on and 1 putt the double

...I am ecstatic being +4 though 4

Par 4 358yds - Hit my first perfect drive on the this hole that is big dogleg left leaving me a perfect approach, which I **** up but manage to pitch on and 2 putt for a bogey

Par 5 489yds - This hole is pretty easy because I can just crank it and allow my slice to creep in if it does, if I hit it straight i leave 250 based on the dogleg right and usually hit it through... BUT I push it right leaving me 200-240 to the hole. I really couldnt judge the distance based on the angle and no markers etc so I just hit my 14deg hybrid... I fade it perfectly around a tree and it bounces about 20ft short bounces onto the green then rolls 60ft across an uphill green and over the back and off by 10ft. Good shot bad result, probably should have hit my 4h knowing it would run, I pitch it on and 2putt par

Par 4 416yds - I push my drive and leave myself in a bad spot behind a tree but I have a shot so I try to punch a hybrid but its not that great but I get a good roll, put it on the front but about 40ft away and get the dreaded 3putt. The other 2 guys I played with mentioned they always overwater this green and it plays very very slow which would have helped prior to the 3putt... double bogey

..at this point I start kind of noticing that I have a chance at a really good score but try not to count it up

Par 3 185 yds - I am always torn here and sometimes punch a 4h or try and hit a lazy 5i or strong 6i... I go with the 6i and knock a great shot within 10ft and pick up my first birdie of the day.

...now I know I have a shot at my best front 9 ever

Par 4 423yds - Rated toughest hole on the course but I generally have no issues with it, hit a big drive that leaks right but I am in good position as its a slight dogleg left so I added a little something to it but I am ok with it... I am about 200 away grab the 4h and worm burn it bad leaving me 140yds. I follow that with a bladed 8i of course finally pitch it on and 2putt for a double and a +8 on the front or a 44.... now all I need is a simple 45 and I am breaking 90

Par 5 495yds - I hit a big drive but it leaks right and just gets over a bunker leaving me a massive up hill lie which I dont mind because I know I can launch a 4h and maybe go for the green (I could have grabbed my 14deg but wanted to play it safe) I hit it right where I want but it doesnt fade at all into the FW and bounces, hits a tree dead on and bounces back but I leave myself ~100 yds.... I hit a halfswing 9i (my go to shot here as of late) and put it on but leave 25ft, which I drain perfectly to open with a birdie to open the back

Par 4 368yds - Tough hole here for me since the entire right side is tree aside from a small opening on the right but If I hit it there I have to punch out anyways so I yank my driver hard left but far as hell but I leave myself in jail and about 160yds away, I could punch out and leave myself a wedge on or try and sky it over some trees, I try to sky it and blade it and it catches a tree and I am stuck punching out anyways. I hit a bad pitch followed by a bladed wedge and 2putt for a triple and a big sad face

Par 4 368yds - Big looping slice but I was trying to cut a dogleg so it settles in the FW about 140 out, I hit a bad iron leaving myself short and hit my worst chip of the day just fat with no follow through and it goes 10 feet.. I chip the next shot on and hit a perfect speed putt than stops 2in to the left for a double

...at this point the 2some peel off and I am left to finish up alone with no one in front of me.

Par 4 401 yds - nice drive leaks badly right but I have a good angle to the pin, I hit my 4h out of the rough into the wind and leave it 20yds short and wrap up a bogey with a pitch and 2 putt

Par 4 390yds - MY NEMESIS HOLE - Ive mentioned it before, just hate it as there is so much trouble in my landing area if I dont hit it straight so I line up on the right of the tee box and aim left and hit my best drive of the day and it fades perfect leaving me ~140 to the hole. At this point I have to wait for a 4some on the green but figure I can play through after this hole (or so I though) I hit a nice 8i just off the front fringe about 25ft away..putt it to 2 ft and finish off the par (**** you nemesis hole)

....2 of the 4some had teed off as I rolled up and they never asked me to play through so I am stuck waiting

Par 3 150yds - I hit a nice 8i but the wind knocks it down and I am just off the fringe but unfortunately its a back pin placement and I have 60ft uphill to go. Speed is ok but the line was not optimal and leave myself 10ft and 2 putt from there for a bogey. I actually dropped another ball from the fringe since they were teeing off already on the next hole and obviously hit a much better putt but that was just for fun.

...3 holes left and I start eyeballing the scorecard knowing I can break 90 etc

Par 4 338yrds - Nice drive that leaks and lands in the bunker thats placed perfectly, its hard pack so I try and pick it out with a 7i little runner but hit it awful leaving me ~110 yds. I yank a little 9i runner I try and hit here, then blade it over before finally getting it on and just missing the putt and settling for my second triple of the day and realize I am in trouble knowing I need a par par to break 90

Par 3 148yds - Hit a perfect 8i but leave a downhill 15footer for birdie which I hit short leaving a 5 footer but I sink that for a par and some hope

....I had already waited on a couple of holes for the 4some that never asked me to play through and I am thoroughly annoyed but try to remain at ease

I need to par the final hole a par 5 468yd hole that is the easiest on the course and just did last week. I sit at the tee box for ~5min while they **** around looking for balls in front of me then hit a towering tee shot that I pushed right but its wide open there and cuts the slight dogleg and I leave myself 240 to the green...

...I grab my 4h knowing I hit it the best in this situation but I am literally stuck waiting about 7min for the group in front of me and seriously overthink it knowing the wind is at my back and I have hit my 14deg hybrid here perfectly a couple times where Ive pitched on and 2putt par it but I sit and sit and sit...

I finally hit my 14deg hybrid and completely yank the **** out of it probably the worst I ever have, and it rolls just short of some heather and I have no approach to the green and hit a 3/4 swing 8iron leaving me a 20yds to get up and down.. I leave it short and 2 putt bogey for the 90...

God I was so pissed even though it was my best round, if that 4some let me play through or didnt **** around on 18 I think I pick up an easy par and the 89.

I did figure out my short game a lot realizing whats wrong with my bad shots, basically I need to make sure I hammer the ground and get the spin instead of a normal swing which leads to skulls a lot easier, my bad shots are better to say the least this way... just need to get the touch down.

Once I figure out my driver I will be in much better shape

Triple,

In my group there is a guy just like your Saints guy. He thinks every one of his shots are for the green jacket and throws a fit over imperfect greens conditions or when one (all) of his shots don't meet his expectations.

We play all over New England. My guy lives in Newport, RI.

I mentioned Newport because on July 4th we played in Goffstown, NH. My guy was in my foursome, which will never happen again. Newport is 130 miles from Goffstown, 2 hrs and 45 minutes drive without traffic. Our tee time was 9:28, we have to check in 45 minutes before tee time so at the latest he had to be on the road by 5:30am, on a holiday, to make the check in time from Newport. The tourney entrance fee was $165.

After my guy carded a triple on 1, he started to percolate, the double on 2 had him talking to himself, the drive on 3 had him questioning why he drove so far to play so bad, the hosel rocket second on 3 ended his day.

After the hosel rocket he walked back to the cart, beat the pulp out of his strapped in bag with his iron, then pulled it off the cart, beat it some more, picked it up and stormed back towards the parking lot on foot 100% more crazy and animated than the losers do on Big Break. We watched him when we got to the 3 green, he opened the trunk, overhand slammed his bag into it, jumped in the car, and ripped out of the lot.

Net/net for $165 plus gas money and probably a fast food breakfast, and a fast food lunch on the way home, he played 2 1/2 holes for 6 hours worth of driving.

My group has +/- 300 members, he is the only guy I've requested to never play with again.
