Awesome golf gambling story from yesterday's game. We are playing 4 man wolf with some handicaps set up, started out at $5, on hole 18 we are up to $20. Player A is stuck like $750 on the day despite flirting with breaking 80 (by far the best golfer in our group) and tilted. 18 is a par 5, he is the wolf, he hits a bad drive short rough, I hit similar in the rough, the other two guys are each getting a stroke, player B hits the fairway, C hits bad probably in a hazard. Player A decides to go lone wolf which doubles the bet in our game, our 3 person team immediately elects to double as well, player A re-doubles which is the cap. So its now $160 a man but a birdie doubles that and an eagle re-doubles.
We make our way down the hole and long story short, player B who is the worst player of the 4 hits a second shot that is deep in the right rough and almost in a hazard. He hits a PERFECT iron to 4 feet laying a legit 3, and he's getting a stroke, so if he makes that putt we are in for eagle and $640 a man from player A. player A is in left rough and hits his 3rd shot short of green in the neck, pin is in the back, he's probably 120 ft away on a not flat green. Myself and player C are effectively out of it. Player B is playing pretty high stakes here and is obviously nervous, but he remarks like "well I make it and win $640 or miss and still win $320 so that's good".
Player A is tilting like crazy that he's about to lose nearly 2k on this hole. He chips from the neck and promptly HOLES it for a birdie, disgusting. Now player B has a ridiculous amount of pressure on him because it went from $640 or $320 to $640 or $0
He pulls the putt, its outside the hole the whole way, and the hole is chopped. Never seen a guy so happy to lose the $750 on the day.
