41-38-79. 2 birdies, 1 double, 1 triple. 10/13 fairways, 7/18 greens, 30 putts.

It wasn't all that pretty (especially with the double-par-triple start) but it was good enough. Win.

Played first round in about 6 years today and did pretty ****ely. It was 100 degrees out w/ index of 110 and little tree shade so after only 13 holes and standing in the sun looking for plenty of lost balls we called it a day. My brother got called in to work anyway.

Shot 91 on those 13 holes lol. Played from Whites 69.7/113 6,255yds. Few trees but lots of water. I lost ~9 balls, so I had a ****load of penalty strokes. I also averaged 2.58 putts per hole, which obviously sucks.

Good news is I have a lot of room for improvement. I hit every one of my irons and P-wedge all very well. Didn't have much distance on my driver, and too much slice. Chipping was sucky but got better as I went. Putting was way too many putts.

I hit about 4 or 5 amazing shots that I would take 100% of the time. Best shot of the day was a 141yd par 3 I hit a 9-iron onto the green about 10' behind the hole. Then managed to 3-putt. Awesome.

I realize this post is long and I suck but hopefully if I can improve I can read back on this and see where I was.

48-42-90, 8/14 fairway, 6/18 greens, 33 putts

doubled the last hole, which is usually my best hole on the course. no idea how i'm still not breaking 90, ball striking has generally been pretty good. i just keep finding a way to meltdown on at least three holes.

North Bellingham is such a good course for the price. An equivalent course north of the border costs double as much to play. Jealous!

Couldn't agree more. Even their yearly memberships that you can buy are insane value. Makes me cringe when I think about the difference between it and so many courses in Canada that are maintained like **** and ridiculously overpriced. From my experience Washington has a ton of really really great and affordable golf.

37-36=73 Baltimore CC West (in a steady rain/drizzle)

6950 Par 72

Still making sloppy bogeys. For example, 3rd hole is pretty short. Drive to about 85 yards. Try to get cute to a front pin and leave it short of the green and fail to get up and down. Pretty bad there.

But seem to be finding my game and my interest level.

although my back is killing me for reasons not entirely clear, i participated in a scramble tournament. it was only 2 teams when 3 other teams backed out or didn't show because of rain/storm that went through our county a couple of hours prior.

i was in a three-some with two girls. the other team was a four-some, two guys/two girls. we did not get an extra stroke.

brag: won by 2 strokes, i also got longest drive & closest to the pin.

beat: everyone we played with was pretty much a novice. my gf (on my team) and one of the guys (on the other team) have been playing for two years now. i've been playing for 4-5.

variance: since i already won longest drive, closest to the pin was given to second closest. i kept the bragging rights though.

score: parred both par-5s and both par-3s. bogeyed every par-4. LOL.

i played in scrambles on Friday (-8) and yesterday (-5).

i have to say, i get beyond annoyed when people in my group consistently leave their putts short.

Anyone in the Boston area have a car and feel like golfing tmrw? Preferably in the AM? I'm going to be in Boston for the day and would love to play an early round of golf. No car though. Could play at Stowe Acres or Mount Hood or anywhere else really. I shoot in the 90s. PM me if interested

Yesterday got an opportunity to play Beth Page Black. Friend got an out of state tee time for 2:12 and we were able to get 18 in before dark.

I shot 47-50 from the blues, not awful for a 15.9 index. I got talked into playing the blues by my 7 handicap buddy. "When's the next time you'll be able to play a US Open course? So why not play the blues?" So I gave in and it didn't dissapoint.

The course visually is gorgeous but we were dissappointed in one thing, the pace/quality of the greens. They were bumpy and very slow. It was a slow 5 1/2 hour round but that was what we expected going in. It was very hot yesterday and opted to rent a pull cart. After the high greens fees springing another hundred for a caddie wasn't appealing. After the 15th hole we were both dead tired. Climbing those hills was a lot tougher than we had realized.

Most par 4's on the course were 460+ and nearly all played even longer. It was all carry to the green, uphill over traps. Its 7468yds on the card but yesterday we figured it played around 7300, not all tees were in the championship boxes. It was easily the hardest course I'll ever play. It was mentally and physically challenging. It was enjoyable but it'll be a while before I try and play again.

43 (par 35). Sucked. I managed to scrape together pars on the last three holes but only managed one decent shot while doing so.

Hotrod....do they not have anyone roaming Beth Page to tell golfers to pick their pace up? A 5 1/2 hour golf round would put me on the brink.

edit: golfing today. just realized i left my driver at a friend's house so i'll be hitting 3 wood off the tee. i fully expect to shoot my best score of the season due to this.

played quick 3 holes last night after 7:30. teed off 2 balls on each, just to get more work done. first hole par-3 - par, bogey. second hole difficult par-4 - bogey, double. third hole easy par-4 - par, bogey. 3 of 4 fairways, but only 1 GIR out of the 6 tries.

lesson of the day: if the green is well guarded by bunkers, lay up!

Played Bayou Barriere. Got 8.5 holes in before it started raining.

Brag: Only the second round I've played since taking my first ever lessons a few weeks ago. Hit the ball much better than my last round. Had some bad shots, but the ratio of good shots to total mis-hits is greatly improving.

Beat: short game and putting started off terrible.

Variance: went to get a 9-hole rain check. Guy says, "Oh, you used a gift certificate? Well, I can't give you a rain check, so here's the certificate back." Ship the 27 holes for the price of 18!

Boom! 71 today. First time breaking par at this place since joining 2 months ago. Lipped out 4 putts and played the par 5s a total of +1 so I could have really taken it deep.

36 (+1) in league. First round to brag about in a while. 8 greens, 5 of 6 fairways. Haven't broken 40 at home all year, in a league or full round. First time this year things really felt good.

To be honest I didn't see a single ranger out on the course. It was strange it didn't "seem" that long. There were a few times that we were waiting on tees or waiting to approach greens but it didn't have the feel of "oh man this is the longest round ever". I think it just takes a long time because of everyone is walking and on nearly every hole some one from our group was in a trap. It just takes a long time to play.

shot 35(par), 2 birds/2 bogs... too bad we were playing Cooper's Game which meant we all played from the spot of the best tee shot(even on par 3s)... But still I had best score in my group and I've played so bad all year so it was nice to win skins and win the 2on2 game. I'm a 19 handicap currently, up from 14 at start of year, been ugly.

43 today. was just wildly inconsistent. actually felt kind of burned out at the end. i think the routine of playing the same course over and over is getting to me.

Was at the range today and decided to play 18 on a whim, little "executive" course (pars 3s/short par 4s). Holed a birdie on a blind bunker shot (shot of my life probably) and put an eagle putt 3 inches past the cup. I lost my score card after the third hole, but probably shot about bogey golf on the day.

45-53 = 98 ... I'm not that good, but I holed two putts on the fringe that had big breaks in them for birdie and bogey. Good day for me.

played in a foursome today at my local course.
ok so a standard situation comes up. I am off the green and ~12ft from the cup, my friend is on the green and ~60ft from the cup. The three other players in the group insist that i must play first because i am off the green.
Of course furthest from the hole applies even if some people are not on the green! So tilting

50-46 yesterday at Calgary Elks, 71.6/128/6498. 39 putts, 2/14 fairways, 3/18 greens.

Greens were just aerated so it was like a minefield but good god I putted poorly. One 4-putt and three 3-putts on the front. That and my poor driving are the two biggest factors keeping me from getting under 90 more consistently.
