Played the second 9 of 2010. Didn't chip or putt particularly well, but shot a pretty easy 50 with one par. Had some strong drives, and overestimated my length on a couple of holes, overshot both par-3s. Lol starting strength. Oh yeah, no 8's for me. Probably not the first time, but definitely a step in the right direction.

I just had the greatest golfing experience in my short career today. I shot poorly (105ish), but I was finally able to make good fairly consistent contact with my driver, 5 iron, and PW and only had 36-40 putts, which is great for me.

Got up to 81degrees in Buffalo today, it was ridiculous. I essentially stopped tracking my score after 9 holes.

New swing, new irons, new wedges = no idea what the hell I was doing out there



Hit some great drivers and long irons specifically that I have struggled with mightily before though.

79...thru 16 holes. Ended up with a 96. FML. Still my best round ever but had a chance at breaking 90

I feel like I played better then the score suggests. There were three holes that got away from me. I found two bunkers on the first. Pulled a ball OB off the tee on the 17th. Drew a ball OB laying up on the eighteenth.
I also pared the hardest hole on the course.
2 pars, 9 bogies, 4 doubles, 3 blobs.

Shot an 88 today (first time breaking 90)! One hole was out for repair so that helped, it probably would have been a blowup hole haha.

Found my driving after the turn which helped a ton. For the first time ever I was also able to hit a fairway wood off the deck!!! So instead of getting 8 on the par 5s I was able to save a 6-7, even found one for a par.

Putting was my saving grace today, only three 3-putts today total!

46-45=91 today, not too bad for my second round of the year considering it's a personal low score!

Played two 9's over the weekend, very muddy and lots of moisture. Didn't keep score as it was the first time out this season. First time out with the new driver as well, was hitting some pretty big draws (read: hooks) but during the second half round was able to straighten some out and really bomb them. Ball striking with irons was pretty poor and short game was just atrocious. Can't wait to practice.

75, I keep shooting 75~ lately. It's especially dumb since I've been at minimum 3 shots better on the back. In the past week or so I've had +7/-5, +5/-3, +4/-1, +4/-1, and +3/E today. It's not like it's that much easier, just a mental block and can't get comfortable w/ whatever I seem to be doing for 8 holes or so. I'm up to +0.2 w/ good scores at the bottom!! Noooooooo...

Played nine today, shot 41 (par 35). I was hitting the driver beautifully, I hit the first four fairways, and ended up 5/7 for the nine. Made a silly double, and my putting wasn't 100% yet even though I made a few 15-footers for par.

All in all I was pleased, just need to get my putting together and I'll be on my way to the 30s for sure.

Finally back to the good side. Shot 70 (-2) today at The Raven. Took me 2 weeks of 8 hrs a day but I'm finally, for the most part, comfortable out there. Was 6 shots better on the back. Also good brag, I talked to a guy from Canada a couple days before about some up and coming Canadians, and I told him I might try for Canadian Tour Q-school at the end of May. I catch up to his buddies on a par 5 the back 9 and they let me go through. I hit one 300 yds in the fairway, 3 iron from 220 to about 40 feet and knocked it in .

Shot 41 on the front nine at Deerfield this time. Didn't hit the driver as well, but that's probably because I was drinking haha. I putted pretty well, lipped out four pretty long putts so I'm getting closer and closer to where I need to be.

This week in golf:

40-40-80 at Oak Valley in Advance, NC. Nice to start the vacation off by slicing the first tee ball OB. Recovered by making a 3 for 5 with the provisional. Nice Palmer design, a lot of the fairways were still dormant. Would play again, only the first hole was notably stupid.

42-45-87 at Woodlake CC (Maples) in Vass, NC. Solid design. Hot. Played bad.

44-48-92 at Pine Needles G.C. in Southern Pines, NC. I played like **** but what a fantastic course. Definitely one of my five favorites of all time (that I've played) and the best conditioning I've seen by far in NC in April. Greens are tough.

40-40-80 at Mid South C. in Pinehurst, NC. Another Palmer design, also in very good shape. Liked it.

I also hung around but did not play at Southern Pines G.C. in Southern Pines, NC, which might be one of my 5 favorite layouts of all time even if it's not in the top 500 for conditioning.

38-45-83. Sometimes I look like I know what I'm doing, some times I look like I should just quit the game.

It was great hitting driver 4 iron to 4 feet on a downwind par 5. I even putted competently.

Not so great was having the chipping yips and bad. Missed the green completely - these are BIG greens - three times from inside 20 yards. Practice would be advisable.

42 - 46 for an 88.
I hit my irons better than I ever have, they all had this beautiful draw ball flight that I wish I could all summer, but I couldn't putt.

Played Four Ball better ball today and managed to finish on the winning side.
Mostly I hit full shots well, I Putted pretty well and chipped the best I have in some time but two things conspired against me my driving was high short and stayed out right and I over clubbed on several approach shots.

High point was making par on the hard par four dogsleg left ninth. After leaving my drive short on a down slope I played a 9 iron to the flat and then stiffed another to four feet from the pin and made the putt.

Low point stepping up to the tee on the fifth and smothering a seven wood twenty yards dead left into the trees just missing two bunnies.

Shot 84 at the Hoot of Osprey Valley today. I always seem to play well at this course and today was no different. 9 fairways, 33 putts, but only 4 GIRs.

My driving was awesome today, hit a few 3-woods on the screws too.

First hole, 500 yard par 5 (below). I hit a beautiful drawing drive followed up by a perfect 4-brid to 1 foot short of the green; it would have been only the second 2-on on a par 5 for me ever. I made the birdie

Two ways to try and improve on yesterday's dismal chipping performance:

1. Fall asleep reading Stan Utley's short game book
2. Stop missing greens.

I don't know which it was, but I only had to chip twice. There was FAIL but that was due to the putting which followed. Both chips were adequate.

Overall a pretty good day. I didn't miss many putts inside ten feet which was far better than usual.

Even par 72. Hit 3 fairways and 8 greens. Reading that right now it makes me feel like a liar haha.

Where are you from? Looks like your game is pretty tight from the scores you're posting.

played my first 18 of the year for me today, have played maybe 15 rounds over the past 5 years but i'm finally going to try to take golf seriously. shot somewhere in the 105ish range. hit some beautiful shots off the tee including one fantastic 320 yard drive and a great 5 iron from 180 out to within 10 feet. unfortunately my short game is awful, but hopefullly i can bring my scores consistently into the 80s by the end of the golf season if i can play as much as i'd like.
