Had a super weird round today. It was a team thing so not exactly sure what I shot but I think it was like 74 +4 off the yellows.

Just a bit of a crazy round of golf seemed like either a double or a Birdie. 6 Birdies in one round is the most I've ever had. I only holed one 30 footer rest were down to wedge shots going pretty close. 7th is a short Par 3. Pin close to the back I hit it passed hit the green bounced into the fringe and spun back and it was going in but stopped within a inch of the hole. Get up there and see its gone into someone else's unrepaired pitch mark

Inconsistent. Hit some good shots of every type but also some clunkers of every type.

Had the rare privilege of having to take an unplayable in a bunker. Plugged one in the face of a very deep bunker on 18, if I could have managed a stance somehow I would have been aiming at the parking lot, not the green. Decided not to test my insurance coverage.

I really really really hate auto-2 putt for a scramble. To me it makes pretty much every putt completely boring.

Played one of my local decent tracks yesterday.

Drove the ball great probably one super bad strike all day.

Irons and wedges were terrible like the nut low they've been for a couple of years now. Irons were dippy left balls.

Putter was fine.

Ended up shooting 93 (+23) my worst score by far in so so long. Normally if I'm having a bad day I'll get it round in something close to respectable. This was +11 over my handicap.


Did 9 holes tonight, 3 Birdies, 1 Triple, 1 Bogey. Hit the ball a lot better with my irons today and just focused on not whipping the club on the inside on the backswing. Need to remember that when things starting going wrong.

Some reason I've gained some yardage on my wedge shots everything just went over the greens. I have changed ball recently from Srixon Z star to TM tour response, Not sure why I changed tbh and probably will go back.

Couple of highlights though chip in 2 on a par 3, One of those that was sat down grass grown against and sort of short sided. Come out lovely though normally I really struggle with this shot.

Other highlight was my drive down 17 which is a tight drive. Was into the wind but smashed it and went pretty far.


Was playing with a very steady golfer who shot level par. 1 birdie 1 bogey. Quite annoying when you think you might get one back he'll just hole the putt or get up and down.

Felt like 105. Popped up several drivers. Semi-duffed about every 3 wood I attempted. Irons were inconsistent. But there were enough good shots and one putts to make up for some of the hacking around.

Finally able to get out for nine holes after dealing with weather, work, and plantar fasciitis. Shot a 56 with three bogeys, and only finding one ball.

Is it bad that if I find shitty balls I just leave them there or throw them back into the pond?

Had a reasonable round going through 7, then dumped shots in the water on 8 and 9. Both holes I gave myself a good look at a putt to save bogey and just could not get it to drop. Also hit one OB on the back nine. Way too many penalties.

Had a chance to hit a few balls on the range beforehand, which I really should do much more often. Found something that was mostly effective at solving the popup problems (only had one, of course it was on 18), let's hope it continues to work.

Not really, I normally pick them up and chuck them in a bag for the range I'm a cheap ass but I don't go to the range often only really before a comp to warm up.

Had a decent string of 70s lately til this weekend. Shot 81 Saturday, then 79 Sunday.

Sunday round was interesting. Hit it to 4 feet on 1, and miss the birdie putt. Did a little better on 2 and hit it to 2 feet and made the birdie. 3rd hole I make one from 30 feet for birdie. Then 4 straight bogeys before another birdie. In total 4 birdies on the day.

Strange shot on 10. I have had some tendonitis issues in my fingers lately from practicing. Have an 8 iron into 10, somehow top the ball and the odd swing stressed my ring and pinky fingers aand the club was released and went backwards 20 yards. Good thing nobody was behind me, although it caught a bit of air before it landed.

For a long time I put a decent round together. +1 in total (reminder this is around my local course its pretty easy)

For the longest time I've been hitting these horrible hooks and naturally I have a slight pull so both together are not good and I've had this with every club from 8 iron and up.

Today I just decided to try something flaring my left foot out a bit and making sure my shoulders were not closed and it was great whilst I still have a slight pull nothing was hooking. What was even more noticeable is how I struck my irons and full wedges everything was going that little bit further which actually cost me 2 shots as I flew it over a par 3 in a bush which I made that double from.

I think one of the hardest shots for me at least is when you're in some semi rough with a pitch shot where the grass is growing against you and you're short sided. I've had a few of these recently and played them really good I think the last 3 I've had I've got up and down twice and pitched in on the other.

Hoping I can keep this up finally feel like its going in the right direction after today.

Everything sucked. I did manage to par the par 3s, but everything else, yuck.

Related, I need to spend more time in the gym. Need to get stronger and more flexible to try and recapture a little of the lost distance. I'm not quite ready to play super senior golf just yet.

47 (par 36): Two triples, one double, 4 bogies, and two pars. hit some good putts, but iron play is still a problem. Really need to figure out my short irons, as I tend to pull them and I struggle aiming far enough right to compensate. Despite my abysmal play, won my match....

Somehow managed a 14 GIR 2 birdie 72 despite not having a great ball striking day. No difficult 2-putt pars but didn't really come close to making a lot.

Yeesh. Inconsistent ball striking but at least I didn't have any popup drivers. Short game was horrendous, probably the worst day all year. I chunked every chip, hit a hundred yard greenside bunker shot, probably had 40 putts. Going to change the setup tomorrow and hope that I can find a decent repeatable swing.

Encountered my first stretch of poor golf today. In my first half dozen rounds of the year I've hit the ball quite well, all the winter training has been paying off.

Today I got a case of the cold tops. Started off by topping it off the first tee, followed by two more tops in a row. More later too. Went triple-bogey-triple-bogey-bogey, then we got halted by a rainstorm. We went out to finish off nine holes and evidently I needed a bit of a reset, as I finished par-bogey-par-birdie.

Just one of those days I suppose. Golf be hard.

meh day on the course too many mistakes. The 6th hole summed up my day pretty much. Hardest hole on the course. Little over 400 yards par 4. Scab a drive in the bush, play a provisional sort of heel that but went alright but little distance. Couldn't find the 1st so I'm now playing my 4th from the fairway. I think I probably had 190-200 left in hit a rescue to 3 feet and tap in for a good bogey. I've really hit this rescue pretty well lately it has a good flight on it.

Great weather though a little bit burnt. Back at it tomorrow and Monday.

Ball striking is complete ass, cannot execute any sort of shot. Hit so many greenside bunkers. I put off the bag reset a day but it's happening tonight.

Whatever it was, I got through it.

Played in a 2-man cash game, net scramble. 14 teams, we took it down for over $1100! I hit the ball very nicely and did my usual thing of making putts left and right.

Quit after nine due to incoming storms. Knew I was doomed - got there early, had time for a full warmup on the range. Hit it well. Which is never a good sign. Promptly went out and hit it awful on the first three holes, making double each time.

On a more positive note, there were a couple swings that let me know that I'm still fixable. I popped up a drive on 5 so I hit a provisional. Best drive of the season, just killed it. The first ball ended up in the fairway so I played it, had 210 in on a par 4. Got 200 yards out of a hybrid that I've been playing as a 175 yard club, put it in perfect position to get up and down. Which I did not accomplish, but that's another matter. Also hit really good chips on 8 and 9.

Now if I could just do those things more than a couple times a round, that would be swell.
