39-44-83. Senior tees again today. 1 birdie, 2 double bogeys.

Went around the front at a nice pace, them hit the wall immediately after making the turn, took 2:45 or so to play the back. Brutal.

Rained out on Saturday.

Had gotten "armsy" and disconnected on backswing, had a few struggle rounds, been working on a more connected backswing, initiating it with left hip which is helping on range. Had a round on a very tight track Thurs and had some very good, including an 8 iron to 2.5 feet on a par 3, but several gone balls.

Played Sunday, had 100 in on first hole par 4 and took seven shots to get down LOL. Flared a gap wedge and then just was scared with my pitch (horrid bunker over green) and then 3 jack. Par second, then third is a par 3, hit 3 great shots to be 18 feet from fringe for birdie then FIVE PUTT from there. Solid start with two 8s in first 3, but settled down and was striking it much better from there, got in a couple gross short game spots, but in for 94 as a 20 on 69.6/127 after that start was a solid rally.

73 +4

Played decent hitting the driver solid. We actually had some rain today which was nice on the greens I can't remember last time we had rain.

Have clubs champs in a month or so and my scoring has been quite up and down hopefully I can get it going by then. My golf club isn't filled with great golfers so I actually have a chance of winning the hole thing. Realistically on paper I only know of 2 people that can beat me but golf isn't played on paper. I've been trying to play as if I was playing in a Medal tournament every time I play now. Taking irons off most tee's even on the Par 5's so hopefully I can get a good game plan down for that day.

2 birdies, 3 or 4 doubles

Paiute Snow Mountain

Played like garbage. Course is actually fairly easy. I can tell that playing it a few times would help in scoring.

Drove one of the par 3s with a 3 wood on the front 2-putted for birdie. 2-putt birdie on the last par 5 (17?) Had 255 in and put a choked-down 3 wood to 20 feet. 2-putt birdie.

Damn 2-putt birdie on a par 3 is something I've never been able to do!

It's kind of like that Mariners/Yankees game last week....two innings with 3 outs made, but only 2 batters at the plate. But ummm, much less actually possible.

played last friday for the first time in almost two months
super tight course with tree-lined fairways. six of the non-par 3 holes ask for something other than driver from the tee, including a par 5. position is king

70.0/122, 6091 yards (Porter, this was Eastmoreland in peak condition)

boy did i complete the score card bingo with this one
2 FIR, 1 GIR, 25 putts, 3 penalties, 3 pars, 3 doubles, 12 bogies, +2 net
had a zero putt par on a par 5 after OB off the tee
had half a dozen full shots from inside 130 that were within a 15 foot circle, unfortunately they were third shots after punching out from the trees.

here's a map of the front and back with direct lines from the tee to green.

start the front from the 1 tee at the top left and go south

and the back from the lower left and go east

41 (par 36). No birdies, no double bogeys.

Unusually pleased with the short game, just needed to coax a couple more putts in the hole. Ball striking was a mixed bag but there were some decent shots.

It's amazing how shitty a course can be. It is Clubcorp after all so I shouldn't be surprised. They had verticut the greens, didn't tell me , didn't even tell the staff until 7am morning of. They were very bumpy but were good in maintaining speed.

During play they were actually aerating the fairways. Like dirt on the fairway. Terrible.

Local 18 par 71 course. Neither 9 could be considered an official score but the band played on...

Cleared the right fairway bunker that forms the dogleg corner on 1 with driver by 30 paces. Must have gone 275 to 285. Then pushed 7 iron into bunker. Got up and down with a 15 foot putt.

Put 8 iron directly over the flag on 3 but it was 3 feet into back rough. Bogey.

7 iron pin high back left of the green on par 3 fourth but pin was back right. Par.

Almost saved from disaster on 5th by 3 iron. Driver into right trees. Punch out 7 iron to left rough 190 out. Landed 3 iron back of the green but finished in rough. Double bogey.

Made a mental error on par 3 sixth. The blue tee stone is 156, but when I paced it off to the tee box marker I counted down to 150 yards instead of going up to 162 yards. 7 iron in the front pond. Ok then I hit 6 iron because I knew I hit the 7 well. 6 iron on the green and I started second guessing. Then I figured it out. On the walk to the green. Made double.

Driver on 7th was center of the bottleneck fairway and went 280 to 290. 9 iron on. Made par.

3 putt bogey on 8.

Par 5 ninth. I split the fairway bunkes that are separated by 30 yards of fairway with a little draw that turned through the corner and stopped center fairway 210 out. 491 on the card with tee box 4 yards behind the markers. Made par with poor subsequent shots.

Ok 3 iron on tight 10th off the tee.

Good 3 wood off tee on 11th center fairway went about 250.

Ok greenside bunker shot on 14. It only took 1 try and almost made the 12 footer. Bogey.

5 iron on par 3 sixteenth made the top back shelf about 10 feet. Made bogey.

Good driver on 17. Cut went about 270. 149 left. center fairway a pace from 150 stone.

Hit a decent 8 iron for 3rd shot on 18. 12 feet for par. Made bogey.

First full 18 in a long time. Feels good.

44-37 = 81

Another lol frustrating round where overall I really felt I played well. Started on 13, had six straight pars, and really thought it was going to be a special day. Doubled a par 3 with a flared drive into the wind and two horrible chips (other than that I chipped really well), and doubled an easy par 5 with a water ball and an ill advised shot trying to make it up. Just couldn’t get putts to fall on the front, as opposed to the back, where I was closer to birdies than bogeys.

Played 27 today

First 18 +6

Last 9 was the roll up 20 points +1

My ball striking is actually terrible right now. In the roll up I hit 2 out of 9 greens in reg. 6 up and downs for Pars and failed on 1 and got a bogey.

I'll take that as a positive though.

Did a scramble today -9 vs the other teams -4

We played everyone had to get 4 tee shots in play I did all of mine on the front , We had a 29HC hitting his final tee shot on 18 OB left, right is dead, bunker in the middle of the fairway. I'm like just lay up with a iron or something, See him pull out his hybrid. I'm just looking at the ground to hear he has purred it in A1 position, I pitch it close and he puts it in for birdie. 1 of the other guys nails the flag for a near hole in one on one of the par 3's.

Reminds me yesterday when we were playing on the 17th you hit over the 16th green. Guy I was playing basically blades a 3 wood hits the 16th flag and goes straight out of bounds we had a gentlemen's agreement that he can just tee another one up as it was just a unofficial tournament, He wasn't going to win anyway.

42-41-83. 3 birdies, 5 double bogeys. 9/14 fairways, 8/18 greens, 30 putts.

Lots of makeable birdie putts for a change, had some really good approaches. Didn't make anything longer than five feet though.

Walked a 9 hole executive course in 92 degrees the other day. Made a par. Nothing of note happened.

Today is my first day of long weekend. Started 18 walking alone in the region south of Boston called the blue hills around 730.

It rained enough on hole 4 that I took cover and checked radar. Radar showed heavy rain starting just after 10 am. So I played about as fast as I could with nobody in front. It was raining within 20 minutes of getting in the car.

I kept score but one hole was a pickup mark it X and move on to beat the rain. Greens were shaggy and slow. Slowest I've ever played. 2 pars on the back. 8 total bogeys. 4 doubles. Rest triple or worse.

I'm very unfamiliar with the yardage, but I think one drive went about 290 in good position. Another went pretty far but into far right rough on dogleg left. 3 wood on 18 stopped on the skirt 10 paces from the front edge.

Otherwise happy to feel good after the walk. Beating the rain was pure luck of timing.

Hit a small number of greens maybe 4 or 5. Lots of botched approach shots but several of those were not contending for birdie.

Club Championship lol Report, playing from the tips:

Saturday: 44-40 = 84
Sunday: 48-40 = 88

I don't even know anymore. I can recognize certain things related to course management, but when it comes down to it, I think I just need to practice and gain more consistency. I hit a LOT of really good shots, and feel more confident in my swing than I have in a long, long time, but my mishits really get me into trouble.

Brief "highlights":

- I played the back nine better than my score both days. Saturday included a double bogey with a FOUR PUTT. A fluke with a poor choice: I tried to jam a downhill 4-footer, burned the edge, and ended up with a 15-footer. Multiple edge-burners for bogey for tap in pars. Overall I putted well.

- On Sunday I had TWO quads. Lol. The first was very frustrating, as I was 3 over through eight holes (my handicap from the tips is 11) and despite a bad round Saturday, thought I could sneak into the money for net (scores were not great). I was 50 yards out on a short par 4, usually my money zone, and caught the wedge right in the teeth, sailing it over the green, down a steep steep hill, and into the heavy stuff. In hindsight I should have taken an unplayable, but should have been able to get to it. Just an ugh.

- Second quad was on the hole I dreaded the most, and the dread came to fruition. Picture of the hole in question below. My usual game I tee off from the yellow x. For this tournament, we teed off from the red x (the true tips, as far back as it can go). Turning a 325 yard par 4 into a 475 yard par 4 is one thing, but that angle....I don't have a draw with my driver. No way, no how. Because of a very large tree on the left side of the tee box, the red line is the straightest line to the fairway. It's about a 210 yard fly, which is fine, but there is only about 15 yards from the landing area into the water, and the shorter you fly, the shorter that landing area gets.

On Saturday I was so worried about not slicing it into the water that I dead pulled it. RIGHT into the tree. It somehow managed to skip forward and avoid the water, but I was still 400 yards away hitting out of the rough. Double bogey. Sunday, first drive fades just a little bit and into the water. I did the smart thing and dropped in front of the tee box (so about 50-60 yards forward) and hit three wood. But the absolute worst three wood ever. Water.

Just lol.

Worst in quite a while

Im up In Tahoe and played the course they play the Barbasol at.
Distances were a bit off due to the elevation; but overall just played really poorly.

Is that the one just to the north of South Lake Tahoe/Stateline?

The Harrah's there has one of the saddest poker rooms I've seen in a very long time.

Tourneys (and Club Championships) can be maddening. It's just a totally different game. I have played all of one tournament so far this year. Only other one will be the club championship. When you don't play competitive games on the regular it's tough.

11. GHIN a 9.2. It really only drastically changes things on four holes, but those four holes were a big problem.

Thought I played OK but didn't score.

40-42-82

1 birdie, 2 or 3 doubles

Could not get off the green or hit an iron.

35-39-74

4 birdies, 1 double

The 4 birdies were all inside of 15 feet. Was throwing darts early. Managed to put 7 3's on the card, and I didn't even par one of the par 3's.
