Had plans to golf today in St. Croix. Was gonna play 27, including 9 on the "easternmost golf course in the United States". Got to our hotel yesterday and for $285 a night it was a shithole. Drove around a bit and was not impressed with anything so decided to hop back on a plane today and go home. Oh well.

well that sucks

43-41 84 today. Awful putting and I even made a few par and bogie saves. Could have been worse. 37 putts with 6 3-putts.

Driver was decent. Smashed two and had enough that were decent enough; weak cuts but stayed in play. Did pull one 30 yards left into a hazard trying to hit the stock fade :-/

Irons okay; a few meh shots that lead to long putts but also hit a great 6 iron to a back pin to 10 feet which felt great. Also had a nice sand wedge which I hit to 5 feet on a front shelf pin. Should get to play a decent amount these next two weeks before Bandon and then we’ll see how long the snow holds off into November.

44 (par 36). No birdies, 2 double bogeys.

Some good shots, a few bad ones. Didn’t have a lot of focus.

39 - 43 = 82

Beautiful fall day. Played great on the front, thought I had figured out the slow greens. Two of the three bogeys were on two of the easiest holes on the front, which is very frustrating. Bogey on hole #2, I drifted off the fairway (my only missed fairway of the day) behind a tree. Punched it up damn well but short of the green, and misjudged the speed needed to get it to the back pin on a steep green. Bogey on #6, the other easy hole, was dumb....hit what I thought was a perfect PW, landed exactly where I wanted to, but somehow didn't land as soft as everything else that day and rolled off the back. Back is a steep incline, so up and two putt for bogey.

Back nine was just....eh, weird things happen. Started bogey-bogey-bogey-TRIPLE, finished bogey-par-par-par-par.

41-46 = 47. Started on the back.

Just a **** show. First 9 holes it was pouring down rain and wind blowing 15-25 with bigger gusts, and I adjusted….poorly. On the third hole practically threw my driver because I was dumb and hadn’t put my gloves on yet, on my way to a triple. I play in damp weather a lot, but have a horrible time adjusting to REALLY wet. Don’t adjust my posture to account for the wet ground and chunked everything. Also got a mallet and decided I only needed 5 minutes on the practice green to put it into play. I’m definitely going to stick with it, putting on a line much better, but has a hell of a time adjusting to the weight.

Onward and upward.

Been wallowing around 80 for several rounds, then put up 75 and 77 this week. Finished with an eagle today so that's good. Proximity to the hole has not been great with the wedges lately.

48-42-90 Par 72

Not much to say about this, pretty poor Iron shots into the green. Shot 84 last time I played this course a week or so ago.

I lost like 4 balls on this round and I swear 3 of the 4 were good actually good shots. I remember I had my 2nd shot into a Par5 didn't think I was getting there so took a hybrid and absolutely buttoned it, Went left side of the green and literally could find it. I was actually kinda tilted because of that.


Just need to play more, Actually got to go on the range before that and was actually hitting it pretty well,

Played an 8 hole stretch yesterday 8 under par with 2 lip outs. Lip out for eagle on 8, birdie 9, u turn for birdie on 10, birdie 11, birdie 12, skip a 4some on 13, birdie 14, 15, and eagle 16.

Think it was 66 overall, but was messing around a bunch at the start and not really keeping score so meh.

45-38 83 today. Front was fine but had a weird double on a par 3 then a triple on par-4 with trouble everywhere and I found it all. Lost 4 balls on 6-8 but made two bogies.

Solid reset on 10 and hit every fairway and green from 10-16 and got up and down on 17 and 18. So 2 over on the back with 3 3-putt bogies and one birdie.

37-43-80

2 birdies, 1 double, 1 triple

Was a glitch in the matrix with the putter. For some reason I was missing my really long putts about 5 feet left. Figured it out later in the round that I was actually putting a significant descending blow on it.

46-44-90. 2 birdies, several double bogeys.

Five holes where I played great, the remaining 13 were godawful. I have no swing right now and am screwing up in all sorts of different ways. Just ugly, ugly golf. That score may have been generous.

39-42 81 (par 35-36 71) - 7 GIR, 33 putts

10 pars, 2 doubles. No birdies and only a few looks. Played a course I’ve never played. It was fun; pretty wide open and I hit driver on 13 of the 14 non par-3 holes. Had it going with the driver for a bit but then got out of sync which was a bummer as I was enthused after Friday's round.

Made a few great up and downs including up and down from 65 yards after hitting into an adjacent fairway on 15. Played the last 6 in one over.

37-38-75

15 pars, 3 bogeys

Had a stretch from 8-13

8 - Up and down from off the green, make 10 footer for par.
9 - Tee shot in the water, up and down from 120y by making a 15 footer for par.
10 - Tee shot in water chip up to 12 feet, make it for bogey.
11 - In bunker by green, hit it to 5 feet and make it for par.
12 - Routine par.
13 - Tee shot in lateral penalty area. Drop and wedge it to 125y out. Stick it to a foot, make par.

Nice strikes gained recover approach, short and putting. Not nice strokes gained tee it seems

2 birdies, Half decent round, I think I’m getting a lot better hitting into the wind with my longer clubs,

The only thing that was kind of bad and has been creeping into my game is irons are over drawing/hooking, My natural shape is a right to left draw.

40-40-80. No birdies, 1 double bogey.

Ball striking was better, if not consistently great. Got up and down a bunch on the second nine. Definitely an improvement over yesterday.

Highlight come from the hardest hole, I think it's like 450ish So unless I hit to 2 great shots I'm not getting a GIR, I actually hit a decent drive, I think I probably had 220 in or something. 3 wood kind of fatted it but I had about 10 yards of the green and chipped in for a birdie.

All the birdies I had today were from really good approach shots. They were all basically gimme's.

The not so highlight of my round was 1 of my playing partners who is like 35 was acting like a child for the front 9. He was getting angry because he wasn't hitting the ball so well and he also didn't have a lighter for his cigarette, He even asked me for some reason, He knows I don't smoke. The way I see it if you're playing bad and want to get angry do it in you're own space and don't effect and make things awkward for you're playing partners. This guy is a 20 handicapper who thinks about golf to much, Needs to learn to have a bit of banter and learn to get round a golf course when you're not hitting it well.

34-40=74 Started off with three straight birdies first time for me .

Nice! I don't ever remember going birdie, birdie, birdie to start a round, but it is possible on one of my courses. I have been -3 through 3 multiple times however.

Emergency 9 today. Decided I wanted to play in a lot of wind. That time of year in FL with "cold" fronts coming through. It wasn't pretty but I did manage to hit the fringe on a drivable par 4.

Edit: Did battle through a 15 minute light rain. Finished in 51 minutes, even with a half dozen extra shots.

36-43 79 :-/ 10 fairways, 8 greens, 32 putts one birdie one double.

Gah had it -1 through 8 and second time I’ve been under par in the last month decently deep into the round. 79 this time 80 last time. I gotta get more comfortable being at and under par. 4 bogies in 5 holes after being -1 and then a bogie and double the last two. Still decent round but man 74/75 would be a lot more fun.

Sustained 20 mph winds today. Go figure that I would go even par on into the wind holes and +7 downwind. Highlights

35-38-73 (par 35-36-71). 3 birdies, no double bogeys. 65.1/115/5350 yards

Paired with a senior so I played the senior tees, which was fun, always enjoyable to hit short irons instead of a million hybrids. Had never played this course before, it was quirky but the greens were nice. Everything was good, even hit a couple really nice chips.

Also for fun I threw my Eye2 1 iron back into the bag and hit three tee shots with it on short par 4s, 3/3 good shots. Don't really have a slot for it but I have hit a lot of good shots with it over the years.
