I hope to get -4 at some point in a round. That’d be something.

I am in the “par is irrelevant” camp but the +/- isn’t as important as the relation to my best round and the kind of scores I want to be able to shoot. Going below 80 is definitely a mental thing for me. If every hole was a par 6 I’d still want to be shooting 75!!

The mental block for me is shooting in the 60s.

44-45 = 89.

Yikes. Can't explain this one, but if I had to try, I had a really hard time adjusting to what were essentially winter conditions after a major storm Saturday night. Whole course was very soft, and I had a helluva time figuring out green speed, leading to multiple three putts.

I was actually only +2 going into #7 (with a three putt on #1 and a three putt on #6) before hitting it into fescue and making a very dumb decision to try to hack it forward, leading to a triple. Then proceeded to double the very easy #8 after barely pulling a wedge into the sand trap. Anyway, mentally it was all downhill from there. Worst round I've had since May.

46-43-89 Par 72.

Several blowup holes starting with the 1st, where I skulled a bunker shot across the green into another bunker and ended up with a triple. Couldn't make a putt, irons were leaking right, chunked a chip shot. Pretty bad all around.

39 for 9 holes +5

1 Birdie - 3 Pars - 4 Bogeys -1 Double

Driving was pretty good, Took Driver on 5 tee shots and hit 5 fairways. The main problem was the approach shot into the green, feel like I have a bit of rust with these.

Main highlights the 2 short Par 3's like max 120 yards I got both with in 10 feet. Holed one and 2 putt the other as I just blasted it through the break.

Hoping to play in the morning depending on if I wake up

Edit, on another Par 3 I basically topped a 4 iron into a ditch like 40 yards in front of me, Had no shot lie was terrible so just to hit a 8 iron and get it out, Went like 50 yards and then got up and down from about 100 yards out to make a half decent 4.

Have this annual event again this coming Friday and Saturday. Friday is at home and Saturday is on the road.

39 +4 through 9 with 3 3putts. struck it pretty well, lots of room to improve though which is encouraging

Given myself a lot of decent Birdie opportunities recently, Had 2 Birdies through 9 yesterday as well.

Honestly can't beat tee'ing off at 7am being the 1st on the course. Great way to start the day! Was a bit fresh at first but by the 3rd the Sun started to rise and got a bit warmer.

I love early morning golf. In law school that's all I played. Great course had an early riser deal that included a hot dog and soda after, which usually ended up being 10:00.

LOL, I can't stand afternoon golf. Plus in FL afternoon golf is almost non-existent in the summer months.

I would play more Mornings but getting up is my main problem I really am a **** sleeper and can never drift off

For as long as I can remember I don't think I've been asleep by 1am... Tee time's I've had the passed 2 days means I have to be out the door by 6am - 6.30am,


but honestly once you're out there it's bliss. Obviously only when the sun is out, you wouldn't catch me out there in the rain at that time

Played the back 9 at my local, Started off nice Par Birdie Par Par, Then the Bogey's started to hit the card.

33-39-72 (+2)

2 birdies, 1 double

I was -1 thru 16 after hitting 15/16 GIR. 149y into 17, make bogey. 68y into 18, make double. Tight, wet grass FTW!

Club vs Club match, at home today.

Modified Chapman we shot -1 (2 birdies, 1 bogey). We had to give opponents 3 shots. We were tied to the last hole. It's normally a par 5 and the #1 handicap hole. Today it played as a 122y par 3 and WE HAD TO GIVE THEM A SHOT. I was last up and drained a 25 footer to tie the match.

Scramble on the back and we had to give them 1 shot. We were -5 and won 3&1.

9 holes of fourball and 9 holes of individual matches tomorrow.

Day 2 of Club vs Club

Fourball Match - Lost 1 down

Played off of my handicap. Partner got 2 shots, opponents got 4 and 5 shots.

We were 1 down with 2 holes to go. Opponents get a shot on the second to last hole. I stick an approach to 4 feet, they end up with bogey before I even putt. It was a right to left slider and I hit the line and speed I wanted, not enough break played and hole is tied.

Move on to the last hole a relatively short par 5, no strokes given. One opponent smothers a tee shot. Second opponent hits in fairway bunker. My partner pulls it and it blocked out by trees and has to pitch out. I nut a 3 wood and have 174y to the hole. One opponent is basically out of it after his second. Second one hits a good one out of the bunker. I fail miserably and hit it a groove and a half low and in the bunker. We end up with a tie on the hole and lose 1 down.

Individual Match - Lose 2 down

I had to give 3 shots.

Immediately start 3 down. Made par on the 1st but lost to a birdie net eagle. (see saltiness in Misc Golf thread). Hit one OB on the second hole then can't find my provisional. 2 down. Hit approach in bunker on 3rd hole and have a lump of sand behind the ball. Make bogey, same as opponent but he gets a shot, 3 down after 3.

4th hole I have an 18 inch putt to tie the hole, and they don't give it to me. I make it. 5th I knock it to 2 feet and make birdie, 2 down. 6th I make par which is good enough, 1 down. 7th I short side myself, lose hole, 2 down. 8th opponent is in for par and I make a nice 25 footer for birdie, 1 down. 9th is a reachable par 5 where I have to give a shot. I had 214y left to get home in two, chunk it a bit, wind up short. End up making bogey to lose 2 down.

Lessons Learned

My driver is complete **** when I am under pressure. Good thing the 3 wood was working good. I made a crazy amount of putts over the 2 rounds. Had 4 birdies today. Only miss was that one 4 footer, otherwise I made everything I should and then some.

I also learned that my irons can crumble under pressure. I need to stop trying to hit hard iron shots and just take the extra club with a smooth swing, especially under pressure shots.

Went out at 7am last weekend, first time I ever was the first group out. Only went so early because I had to work that afternoon.

Felt odd to be leaving my house in the dark to play golf, but once I got going I liked it. 3 hour round and back home in time for lunch and a nap before work.

94 yesterday followed up with a bonus 9 in which i shot 45.

42-46-88 today. course was EMPTY. i made a heroic birdie on 2 (par 5). had a very difficult 45 yard chip for 3rd shot. Figured I was staring double bogey in the face. Chipped to 15 feet and then the slipperiest downhill 15 footer the course has. Last 10 inches was the wind pushing the ball into the cup.
