Hemlock GC, Ludington, MI. I've only played it once before. Paired with guys playing up a set of tees, so I played those, which was fun until my short game went AWOL on the back. Even though the yardage is short it's very much target golf, I hit a lot of 4h off the tees.
My old high school teammate was the head pro there before he moved this year.

Saturday: 39-42-81 - 1 birdie, 2 doubles

Not sharp anywhere around the course. I did take driver a few extra times off the tee on holes that have about a 10 yard wide fairway in the landing area. Only reason I did that was because our match was already finished. Not an excuse though as I still sucked all around.

Sunday: 39-33-72 - 6 birdies, 1 double

I was +5 standing on the 13th tee.

Had 15 feet for eagle and left it 2 inches short.

14th is a short par 3 with a severely pitched back to front green. Hit it about 20 feet above the hole and spun it back to 1 foot. How it actually stops there I have no idea, kick in birdie.

Par 15.

16 is 353y par 4, cut the corner and have 49 yards left. Chip to 6 feet below the hole, make it for birdie.

17 164y par 3, hit it to 12 feet below the pin, make it for birdie.

18 510y par 5, have 214y in and drop it right of the green in the bunker. I'm short sided but make a good shot to 10 feet. Make it for birdie.

Tied my 18 hole record for birdie (6), tie my 9 hole score record (33), new record for birdies on a side (5).

TL/DR: Finished birdie, birdie, par, birdie, birdie, birdie.

lol golf

Cheers guys! I didn't have 4 under 9 holes on my 2020 bingo card, but it's been a hell of a year.

Thanks, and nice round spotts.

This game us just maddening. I have really good runs where I think I have a chance at the Senior Am in a few years. Then I have a run in me that says lol no brah.

48-46-94 with a quad on 18. Pretty easy course but I was at an all time low earlier this year so I'm encouraged.

I can't keep a wood off the tee in play. I was 11/12 fairways with an iron and 0/2 with wood with one out of play.

easy solution: don't use a tee!

Yep, still in Astoria. I mostly play AGCC since that's where I joined, but I play Gearhart every now and then. Both Gearhart and AGCC are great courses, in my opinion.

The greens at Astoria are always fast, and never flat. After only playing AGCC this year I went and played Washington National, and those greens were like easy mode.

lol i laugh but maybe i shouldn't? on par 5 my 2nd shot hit a tree and went backwards. i was 240 out. i told my pal "there's gonna be a lot of anger in this swing." 3 wood, barely right, pin high.

you may be onto something.

Hopefully not an anomoly.

36-36-72

3 birdies, 3 bogey

All of the birdies on the par 5's. Got up and down for par 6 times on the day. Never worse than +1 and never better than even par throughout the round.

'hopefully' is a word used by people who accept their fate being determined by not much more than circumstance.

you have proven to yourself you have the ability, now take charge of it

i've never played Gearhart but several guys in my group make a trip to the coast to play it once or twice a year. NLU had a fun video on the course a month or so ago. they talk about AGCC for a bit at the end.

Nice, I hadn't seen that video (and I follow those dudes on Twitter). Gearhart is a fun course, but for whatever reasons it's never really grabbed me.

Funny they directly mention Tim Boyle...having a billionaire owner with a playing interest helps when it comes to capital.

44 (par 35). No birdies, 2 doubles, 1 triple.

Two holes with two chips, two putts
One hole with two chips, three putts
Pretty obvious where the FAIL was.

you need to work on not missing greens and hole out a couple of times for eagle?

42-35-77 (Par 71). 1 triple, 5 bogeys, 2 birdies. Started with a gross snap hook on first hole for a triple, then decided I was tired of that ****. Totally reworked my setup, basically felt like I was going to slice my drives, and everything went between bullet straight or ~10yds of left to right turn afterwards. What a difference that was.

Back 9 was a total ball striking clinic. Had 10-20' birdie putts on 6 holes, and great driving, 5/6 fairways, with the miss being a foot off. A round like this one really makes me want to get back out there ASAP

7/25
Sun City South Course
40-39 - 79, Par 72 71.7\118 6813 yards

No birdies, no doubles, one 3 putt. Tweaked something in my back on the range which made for a rough day. Lost about 20-25 yards off the tee which caused problems on the 5 par 4's over 400 yards. Lots of longer than expected irons into greens, leading to more misses. Only hit 8 greens I think. Still not making enough putts. Bad reads, bad strokes, just bad putting.

7/26
Wickenburg Ranch
39/39 - 78, par 72 70.3\133 6486 yards

Love love love this place. And for the first time it didn't kick my ass today. No birdies yet again, but no doubles and no penalty strokes...which is hard to to avoid here. Two 3 putts, but on these greens that's not unexpected. Did a good job keeping the ball in play off the tee and giving myself some good scoring chances. Just didn't take advantage. On two par 3's that were each between 200-205 I hit 5 irons to less than 10' but missed both putts. Wasted about 5 shots taking bogey from the middle of the fairway and only 80-150 yards out. Gotta clean that up.

Temps are supposed to be in 110-115 range through the weekend so we'll see if I make it out this weekend or not.

ec - isn't Big Wick a par 71 or is their online scorecard outdated?

You are correct. The back has three 3's and only two 5's. I'm looking at the scorecard seeing a +3 front and +4 back for a +7 78. Typo\brain fart on my behalf. Score was right, post was not.

If you ever get the chance to play it, do so. And set aside enough time to play Lil Wick as well. Fun 9 hole par 3 course where you'll use most every iron in your bag and is in the same kind of condition as Big Wick. It and Quintero are definitely my top 2 courses in Arizona. Though I've only played a small percentage of them.
