You probably already know this but in about a month or so the Players course is the one to play to check out all the foliage up the hill. And the course runs through part of the orchard so grabbing a few apples while you play is a must.

Played a new course in Brisbane yesterday, had a couple ugly triples and couldn’t really get anything going, but scraped together an 88 after going -1 thru the last 3 holes. Couldn’t get a feel for the greens, and ball striking was way off.

Practice round at home today shot 83 with a birdie and 7 pars. Two avoidable triples but other than that pretty solid play

+1, 9 hole loop around before work

2 birdies, 1 bogey, 1 double

Played 1 step in front of the furthest back set of tees. Not the longest course in the world from back there but it does play really tight.

Worked with the assistant pro for about 15 minutes yesterday on my driver. I found something earlier in the week and he helped me dial it in.

Sunday practice round at the US Mid-Am qualifying site; 7,000 yards 72.3/135 par 70. I shot 81 with 2 doubles and a lot of bogies (8) which seems to happen when I play back tees. But I birdied a short par 4 and made 7 pars. Hit 7 greens, too.

My buddy missed the mid-am by 2 (72, needed 70 for a playoff; 69 was medalist). And he hit it super solid; didn't make but one putt outside 10 feet and only hit one really close (2 feet on the 17th hole). Missed 5 birdie putts in the 10-18 foot range and played the 2 par 5s even. Those are the differences.

39 (par 36). No birdies, 1 double bogey.

screwed up the par 3s, stressless pars on the 4s and 5s.

Not very sharp. The driver swing made it out to the course and it was generally pretty good til the 7th hole. Mind must have went blank because the old swing returned and I sliced the **** out of the ball. Tried 2 more times and did the same thing.

Tee shot on the 9th hole was fine though.

Went back to the range after and had the feels back within 3 swings.

Par 70, 41 front, 45 back

My best ever round!

Ended with a double on the par 3 17th and a quadruple on the par 4 18th though after having 6 pars and 10 bogeys in the first 16

* NEW PB ALERT! *

Couple milestones today - first time breaking 80, first time playing a 9 under par and first time 3+ birdies in a comp round.

36-43-79

Inexplicable 3-putt bogey on the par 5 first after my 2nd looked to be straight at it. Came up just short and blew my birdie putt by the hole after a tough chip from a bad lie. Learned my lesson on the green speed though as I holed a 20 footer for bird on the 2nd.

Lipped out for birdie on 3, tap in par on 4 then stiffed my tee shot to 5 feet on the 5th, followed by home in two on the par 5 6th for another birdie. Suddenly I’m -2 through 6!

Scrambled well to finish the 9 at -1 then the wheels began to fall off. Bogey from 100 out on 10, 3-putt double on 11. Up and down for par on 12 then striped it off the tee, green light on to attack the final par 5 13th in two. Pushed the 3w too hard into the wind, in the trees and a disappointing 6.

Putter went cold on 14, 16 and 17 to leave me with bogeys, though I did hole a long one to save bogey on 15. Wind was howling by this point so shorter putts became quite tricky.

After bogey on 17, I needed par on 18 for a 79, and I stayed aggressive. Wind howling, very narrow fairway and I striped driver down the middle to 100 out....

...Dead middle of a divot.

Of course, I knifed my GW long right of the green. Drew a decent enough lie in the thick rough and had a little green to work with. Time to focus - I’ve blown my chances at breaking 80 before when I’ve let the moment get to me.

Stay balanced, head still, soft hands. Clean strike, ball flies up and at the hole, landing soft and rolling out to 5 feet. Right edge putt.

Biggest putt of my golfing life. I’m certain of my read, the only thing I need to do now is execute. Focus. Show the boys what you’re made of when it counts.

Deep breath, one last look at the hole. Make a stroke.

It’s a good one. Right on line. I walk it in, dead centre, and hold my hands up in the air, loudly calling “79!” to my two playing partners - both very good friends.

**** yeah, I love golf.

Hadn't played in months. 45-36-81. First ever even par 9 holes, but with a bogey on the final hole. Pretty much a ball striking/lag putting clinic on the back. Had 4 good looks at birdie, made the shortest two (2', 3', 7', 9').

Just want to say I love reading this thread its very inspirational. I'm not a great golfer at all (18 hcp) and everytime I read this thread it amps me up to go play.

8 pars, 6 bogeys, 3 doubles, 1 triple

Just soul crushed in the tourney. Currently sit t104/124. At least I played the way harder of the two courses today.

Started off by topping a 3 wood off the 1st tee. Made double. 2nd hole I hit a good drive then drop second into a bunker. Downhill in the bunker I have no play and go for front of the green and can't hold it. 4th shot I am in some of the thickest rough I have played out of in a long time. Ball was sitting a full ball below the top of the grass. Ball jumps and I chip it over green. 5 on, 2-putt triple.

Lone highlight of the day was busting the **** out of a 3-wood from 273y out and onto the par 5 in two.......and I 3-putted for par from 40 feet.

Played the Player Course this morning from the back tees (about 6700 yards), first 7 holes in varying degrees of rain.

Long par 3s, short-ish par 4s, and reasonable par 5s in length. Course knowledge would've helped a tad.

+4 overall for a 75

1 birdie
5 bogeys
A gajillion 6-12 foot putts made

nice work skillz, especially with a couple of three putts and the wind. curious about your handicap?
hopefully you'll have a similar experience to me after i finally broke 80...i've still only done it once but my HC has dropped a couple of strokes since and the golf has generally been much better.

I suck. Did nothing right for 17 holes and then parred the hardest hole on the course which I've done like one other time.

Handicap before the round was 10.3, which is a playing handicap of 11 from the whites (121 slope) or 12 from the blues (128 slope). It’s now 9.6 and playing from the blues today, so I’d say I’ll be off 11 there

46-43-89. No birdies, 4 double bogeys.

What a hack. Awful ball striking with zero consistency.

1 birdie, 11 pars, 3 bogeys, 2 doubles, 1 quad - The 40 was on the 9 with the quad.

Played decent except for the one hole which was a lost ball, then made double on the next ball after being next to the green laying 4, then taking an 8.

Was green high on the first three par 5's in 2 and didn't make a single birdie out of them.

Some of my best shots in my life tend to be 3-woods for some reason. This one wasn't an all-timer but I had 283y left into a par 5 with a small tail wind. Hit one as good as I ever have and was pin high right of the green.

Time to get back to the range and work on the swing some more.

Played the No Laying Up summit event in Denver yesterday and my random partner and I ham and egged it up and we won the best ball morning session. Net -8 63 and there were like six -7s so it was awesome. Lost the 36 hole total by one. We got a little loose on the modified alternate shot (both tee off then alternate in from there).

Event was great and all the NLU guys were great. Par 3 contest, party and live podcast taping Thursday before the event was a blast too. Tee gifts and swag was top notch.
