47-44-91 (played back 9 first)
34 putts
4 pars
11 bogeys
1 double
2 triples

Played with local pro (+1), member I don’t know (3) and my mate (8) so pressure was on to perform. Cut the corner on the 10th and ended up inside 100m which I’ve never done before, so that was cool. Snap hooked my next two tee shots for consecutive triples though, so that wasn’t cool.
Also drove into the water on 9 (our last), hit a pure PW at the flag and holed the putt for a wet par to finish. Also cool.

Soccer season at the moment so between work and games I’m not playing as much. Feel like it takes me 9 holes to just find my swing.
I’ve quit my job though so as of a couple weeks time should be able to play/practice more and stop the handicap skid. I’ve gone from 12.2 to 14.0 over the last two months and it sucks!

Santa Fe, NM - has anyone played golf there?

Need recommendations as I’ll be over in the states in September, and that’ll be where I’ll be most likely to sneak a round in.

40-41-81

2 birdies, 4 doubles

Not the best game today. Partner gets 8 shots and he shot 88. We shot 78 gross and 73 net. Between my partner and myself we had 4 birdies on the day. Both times we bridies the same hole. Ham and egging it the right way.

Oh, the guy who has won the member guest 3 of the last 4 years and the member member earlier this year also won the practice day money yesterday and won my flight today. These events are fun and all but I'm just done with them.

This was The Kittansett Club, in Marion, MA. Lived in CO a few years, but originally from MA.

Shot 78/70/76 on my hometown course in MA in my club championship. Finished 2nd... hit it so badly. Playing at sealevel is showing what a liability my irons have become. Overpowering the shafts so much. Need to get some tipped kbs shafts in an iron pronto. Thinner air in CO masks how spiny/poorly controlled my irons are.

Made 5 birdies in a row to close out my 70, but other than that stretch hated how I played. Course is par 72 74.0/140

Have 36 hole us am qualifier tomorrow morning in CO. On flight back to Denver from Boston. Need to hit it better. Putting feels ok, and my chipping is filthy grease.

33

4 birdies, 1 bogey

Couples golf so this is a scramble. Used 2 of the wife's putts but she drained a 40 footer for birdie. Not bad for being the second 9 hole round she has ever played.

glgl tomorrow. I’ve never played columbine but I’ve heard good things. You seem to be playing great- making the am at pebble wouldn’t be terrible at all

Thanks. Last 3 years seem to be -6, -7, and -3 as the cutoffs. Gotta just go out and keep my head in the game. I've been making such a disgusting amount of birdies/eagles lately... need to just hit some fairways, and stay focused.

edit: Also, pebble is a top 3 course for me, and I've gotten to play some good ones. Would be a sick year to make it.

41-42-83. 1 eagle, 3 double bogeys. 11/13 fairways, 10/18 greens, 37 putts.

Ball striking not as crisp today. On a really good streak with the driver, missed the fairway on #1 by six inches and drove it through the dogleg on 18. Chipping not good and putting is absolute ebola right now. At least I identified two putters that are going on eBay tomorrow.

First eagle of the season, I think. Pitched in from a greenside bunker on a par 5.

Best round ever! Full disclosure this course is extremely easy from the white tees (68.6/125) but I am still super happy with how I played. That stretch from 9 - 14 was magical, every approach was right at the pin. I even missed fairly short birdie putts on 16 and 17. 18 I actually hit a decent drive just right under a tree. Thought I could hit the green cleanly but my approach just nicked a branch and just came up short and dropped in a bunker. From there it was a choke job where I put the bunker shot 30 feet past the hole and had a miserable 3 putt. Nerves definitely got me there.

I play this course frequently from the whites as part of a men's club. I think playing from the whites and learning how it feels to score low has helped my mental game, even though I usually go back to the 80s when we play from the blues.

Nice one Pretzel. Congrats on the eagle Booker.

I played a par 70 course from the blues today.

37-38 for a 75 (+5)

3 Birdies
1 Fairway (several within a few yards)
6 Greens
27 Putts

Solid chipping day and putting day (with the exception of one 3-putt and a few lipouts).

Played my home course again (it's 50 seconds from my home, driving) this morning with three elder men (that could have been my wife's grandfather), so I felt very comfortable with them.

Par 72 (6120 yards)
Front: 33 (-3) with 1 Fairway, 7 GIRs, and 13 putts.
Back: 42 (+6) with 4 Fairways, 6 GIRs, and 20 putts.

Overall: 75 (+3) with 5 Fairways, 13 GIRs, and 33 putts.
4 Birdies (including 3 in a row on the front)
3 Bogeys
2 Double Bogeys
3 3-putts (all on the back)
2 Duffed Chips (on the back)
1 Ball used for the entire round.

1 Crushed Soul, because I haven't shot Even par in about 12 years, and I feel like today was the day. I hit it really well.

That's rough, but still a couple good rounds and a great nine.

41 (par 35). LOL Tuesday night golf.

I did it. 34-37 for a 71 (-1) on a course new to me. I'm a teacher, and I invited one of my students whose our high schools #1 golfer to play, but he never responded.

I "atted" him in Twitter and live tweeted each hole out for him and my other students to see, since I played our high school's home course.

5 Fairways
11 Greens
28 Putts
5 Birdies
2 Bogeys
1 Double Bogey

Ran well above EV since I sank some putts and hit some really good shots from tough spots.

Edit: Course plays at 69.8/128 and 6200 yards.

Beat my HC for the first time in a while yesterday. 44-42-86

7 pars
9 bogeys
1 double
1 triple

Not my home course, but nearest to where I now live. Driver was atrocious all day but irons and short game were pretty solid.

Also still chasing advice on golf in Sante Fe, NM if anyone’s been

Handicapping question:

The format is Shamble, Net Best Ball
- Both teammates hit tee shot and the best shot is selected
- Both players play their own ball from that point and the best net score counts as the team's score for that hole.

How should handicaps be adjusted for this?

This is the format for my club's member/guest and I have my thoughts on how it should be done, but I won't say anything until I get some other opinions.

Horrible format for a member/guest IMO but I digress.

I think in the events we have in that format we play it at 75% of handicap. Also should keep the rule of being within 10 of each other.

I agree the format is horrible and the handicapping they're using is even worse (I'll post it later), so I'm not even gonna play. I wouldn't mind it so much if the high buyins didn't directly fund the prize pool in which low handicappers have no chance.

(There's also the fact that males play from 70.2 rated tees while females play from 66.4 so a female team is automatically a massive favorite, but there's no discussion to be had there as it's very clear that it's beyond absurd.)

I think it sounds like a fun format, but handicapping it would be impossible. With that format it should be the team plays at the better player's HC.

Beat my best round ever by 1 stroke today. Shot 67 (par 72). Funny thing is, my best round so far this year was a 75.

25 putts.
Missed 6 greens and got up/down 5 of the 6 times.
One bogey
6 birdies

Very nice!

First time playing in a week for me and it showed. We have had rain all week and the ranges were closed too so no hitting ahead of time. Just played 9 and I have no idea what I shot but:

1 - Hooked one into trees right
2 - Hooked 8 iron into water on approach
3 - Drew one into the water off the tee
5 - Hooked one into the houses
6 - Hooked 3 in a row into the houses

So yeah took me a bit to get going.

Highlight was catching up with the group in front of me on #7 that included the guy who beat me in couples golf on Sunday. He hit a good drive off of #9 and I was a solid 60 yards past him. Had 179y into the par 5.

Nice rounds ITT

2 man event this weekend. Today was 9 holes of alternate shot (+5) and 9 holes of scramble (-1). Middle of the pack so far. If I could putt worth a lick we would be in contention. Missed ~ 4 three to four foot putts. Waste of a solid ball striking day.

Desperate times call for extreme measures, breaking a heel shafted model out of the closet, going to roll a few before tomorrow's round.
