Went and played 9 with the wife this am. Fog was so thick that I hit a 7 iron off of the 1st tee and didn't see it land. Then hit wedge for the 2nd and didn't see that land either.

Fast forward to #3 where there is an 80y carry over water and it was so thick over the water I couldn't see 20 yards in front of me. After that I just hit normal clubs and hoped to find it. Didn't lose a single ball.

Probably shot +5 or so, wasn't really keeping track.

Last 3 rounds have been 80, 80, 80. Varying difficulty and lengths. I have only shot in the 70s once this month and that was a 79 at Copperhead (par 71 though). Handicap will be going to 7.2 tomorrow. Ick.

First inter-club match of the season tomorrow, one individual match and one fourball match. Gonna be an amazing 51* with wind chill in the 40's and 10-15 mph winds. Us Floridians are weak, I will have a lot of cold weather gear on.

Got absolutely destroyed in my match 5&3, lost the fourball 4&3. At least my partner won his match 2&1.

Never played the course before. Was pretty straight forward course but the greens were really tough. I think I 3-putted about 5 times, and missed may other 5 footers after chipping. Shot in the mid-80s I think.

At least playing the course was fun. Used to host a Senior Tour event back in the 80s.

Been playing a bunch of different courses over this silly season, and whilst my ball striking has been good, I've just been slow to dial in the greens, so been scoring terribly.

However today played a random course just south of Brisbane - traffic was heinous and coupled with my hangover delaying my departure from my hotel, I arrived in the car park at 11:23, with exactly 7 minutes to get ready and be on the first tee.

Of course, skied my opening tee shot deep into the hazard across the adjacent fairway, and battled to a scrappy triple to start. Lipped out for par on the second hole then started cruising.

HC is at a new low as well - down to 15.6 - I need to lose another 0.3 to get to 18 at my home course, which has been a goal for about 12 months. Started 2017 on 26, and started 2016 on 36!

Course was awesome. I think the back 9 is the favorite 9 holes I have ever played. Playing it a second time I think it would be much easier. A bit of a fraudulent 78 as all desert areas are played as a lateral hazard which you are not allowed to play out of. I had 2 pars on par 5's where my tee shot went into the desert. One was so short I only had a 7 iron into it.

Highlight of the day was a 54* into the 18th that hung on the top of the slope forever then trickled down to 6 inches for a tap-in birdie.

Played a Stableford round today with a disgusting rotten hangover. Was possibly still drunk for the first 6 holes.
Started out wipe-par-par-wipe-wipe-wipe-wipe-birdie thru my first 8.

Major highlight - I hit by far the longest drive of my life on the par 5 15th. 481m from the white tee box, and I hit it to 170m
Unfortunately I didn't play the rest of the hole well - I missed my approach into the green side bunker, than caught too much ball, leaving me on the back fringe, at least 60 feet from the hole. Left my chip about 25 feet short, but drained the putt to save par. Would've been filthy to hit it that long and not even make par!
Lowlight - 3w off the deck on 18th fairway. I took an actual air-swing and legitimately almost fell over.

GC Am Tour at Sienna in Vegas yesterday. Played a tournament at the Aria the night before which started at 7p. Busted in 5th and got to sleep at 4am for a good 2 hours of sleep.

47-39-86, 1 birdie, 2 doubles, 1 SEPTUPLE

Ok for the deets on the 11 I scored on a par 4.

1- topped a 4 iron off the tee when I was trying to play it safe.
2- Have a bush up my ass for the second which I barely made any contact and proceeded to play the ground game right into a steep bunker.
3 - Have 185y to the green and try and hit 5-iron which I hit a touch heavy. It goes about 80 yards then follows the slope right into the water.
4 - penalty
5 - Have 123y after dropping back to get a full shot to the green, which I hit a touch thin. One hop on the green and over. Here is where it gets fun.
6 - I am between a rock and a bush which could be considered inside the hazard but it is not marked at all. I decide to stand on top of the rock and take a swing. Shaft catches part of the bush on the way through and WHIFF.
7 - Try a different way and barely make contact, now the ball is laying next to the rock.
8 - Finally get it chipped out to the grass.
9 - Chip on
10 - Lag it up
11 - Tap in

Fun stuff.

Hit two of the best shots of my life today -

1)
par 5, slight dogleg r-to-l, pin at the back. Hit a low cut, slightly heely but ok to left fairway, good position.
Had 215m into the wind, with a tight angle - oob left and trees right, so needed a baby fade. Didn't wait for the green to clear because I was sure I wouldn't fly it (I hit my 3w pretty high usually).
Anyway, I could not have hit it any more pure. High, rising ball flight, baby fade, stuck it on the front of the green, barely 3' from the pitch mark.

2)
Long, tricky par 4 that plays uphill, and has trees just right of the tee box so you're basically fkked if you can't move the ball l-to-r.
Hit a perfect high cut that turned over late and ran up the left edge of the fairway, leaving 136m uphill to a back flag. Umm'd and ahh'd between a 9 and an 8, ended up settling on an 8, and just like the previous highlight reel shot I absolutely pure'd the thing, straight at the stick and stopped it dead 3' from the hole.

Gotta do something about those triples though...

A glorious mid 70's day today for a change. The new swing is working really well with the driver, 3 wood and hybrid. Not so much with the rest of the bag. I need more practice with the long irons and I think I am just going to play a little cut with the mid-irons and straight with the short irons.

Almost eagled the 356y par 4 16th. Hit a great drive over the dogleg and had 61y left. Ball hit a foot short, bounced forward, looked at the hole, then spun back a foot from the hole.

Uhhh who am I!! I just went out to play the back nine at my local, since it's often where promising rounds go to die...

I shot 1 over. I'm a 19 handicapper.

It's weird - I'm not sure if it's delusional confidence but for a few months now I've felt like I'm more than capable of shooting a score like that, but have obv never done it. Closest I've managed is shooting a +4 thru 9.
Fingers crossed I can swing like that more consistently from here on!

Interclub match play. A solid 15+ mph wind with higher gusts made for some fun. Luckily we play up a tee so for these so it was manageable. You know when the wind hits you in the face it makes for a long day. 8 of 9 holes on the front play into the wind and 5 of 9 on the back play into the wind.

Ended up losing my match 3&2. Partner won his match 3&2 and we won the fourball 1 up. Considering the conditions I was pretty happy with how I played. Drove the 5th which was playing 275y downwind (the only one on the front) and lagged the 40 footer to tap-in birdie range.

Their players were tough. They could overpower the course and neither of us could keep up.

Had a wicked front 9, kept it really really tidy with 2 pars, 6 bogeys and a birdie on the 9th.

Back 9 at this course has three really tough par 4’s back to back to back, and unfortunately they were my undoing today. Triple on the 14th, mis-hit a short par putt on 15 then triple again on the 16th. Sandwiches with pars on 13 and 17 to stem the bleeding though.

Last week I got home in two on the par 5 13th, and almost did again today. Bombed my drive of the day dead centre, 275m into the wind. The dogleg kinda blocked me out to attack the green, but I’m pretty comfortable hitting long clubs high, so from 175m I lifted my 4i way up over the trees, finishing on the front fringe. Botched the chip and then hit the most pssweak birdie put to only make par.

Was making a ton of putts today, unfortunately they were all to save par.

I was a 16 but took time off with hurt back and blew up to a 24. I made Some swing adjustments and shot 90,90,96 the past three rounds.
My buddy is a 6hc and has shot his record 71 about 5x. Yesterday he shot 67!!! 33/34 with a hole in one and only one bogie. Sickest round of golf I’ve ever seen, never played with someone who shot in the 60s or made a hole in one.

Damn!
