I used to drive 35 min and have full day golf adventures because their practice facility was so top notch.
Sorry for the rant, but seeing that name just brought back a lot of good memories. I definitely recommend it to anyone traveling down that area. Also, check out Dona Esther for some great mexican food and you can cruise by the mission there and see where parts of "Invertigo" where shot.

Cliff notes : I love that place!
The only negative thing I will say about this course is that the split fairways on the back 9 can suck my balls.

My partner and I BOTH hit into a ravine on the back 9 3 times in a 2 man scramble :\. I did go driver->3wood to 3 feet on 18 though.

congrats!

89 at Paiute on Wednesday

41-40-81 at Badlands (Outlaw/Diablo)

finally starting to hit the ball well again...getting used to the new grip

80 Yesterday

36/43= 79 today
11 girs (8 of 9 on the front)
4 fairways
30 putts

Second time breaking 80, first time was 2 seasons ago, so I was really hungering for this. I wish I could have carried my front-nine momentum into the first few holes on the back 9 though. Felt like i was going to slowly unravel after 11 and 12 but I got it back together.

40-39-79. 2 birdies, 1 double. 8/13 fairways, 11/18 greens, 36 putts.

Hitting the ball pretty well. I hit a couple chunky irons but nothing serious. Managed to yip about five putts from 3 feet or closer otherwise it would have been a very good day.

Went golfing at a par-3 course with my wife today where they have let the grass grow to like knee high on everything off the "fairway", tee, or green. Only took 6 balls and we were out of business after 9 holes and had to quit.

The par 3 course I've been playing at is like this too. It was a decent cheap course in the spring but there's no way I'm playing there again because of the crazy high grass.

50-45=95 at Vail golf club, missed all but 1 fairway, hit 5 greens but couldn't sink anything

kinda bizarre but i shot the exact same score as the above poster, 50-45-95 at San Geronimo Golf Club in Marin with former Golf Forum mod Evan. I played shockingly bad the first 13 holes, then played 1 over for the last 5 holes. I had been pushing the ball miles left (I'm a lefty) all day and Evan just kinda remarked "just pretend like you want to hit the outside of the ball" with my driver and I played really well after that. First 4 holes of the back 9 were 7-7-6 though :\

42-43-85. 1 birdie, 2 doubles. 5/13 fairways, 8/18 greens, 37 putts.

Very poor ball striking day. Never established any kind of consistent swing which meant that I sprayed the ball all over the lot. Putting was mostly FAIL. For once I did make some adjustments to keep the ball in play and to change the putting approach and I managed to limp home +1 on the last 5 (just like the above poster lol).

It's amazing how little wind it takes to **** up my swing and mental approach.

Fox Hollow, Calgary, AB

45/45 for 90 (par 71)

32 putts, 4/13 fairways, 4/18 greens

Pretty happy with how I played. Still plenty of room for improvement, but my second best round ever and had two birdies in there, which was also a first.

you can say it almost every round, but very easily could've been a 66 or a 68. Might be my best ball striking round ever, but as usual, the stats don't show just how truly good I hit the ball.

78, 40+38 for my second best round ever. Course was a 6192 meters (6772 yards) 73.5/135 par 72. Driving was decent/good, iron play was bad, pitching was decent and chipping/putting was good. So nice to finally put a good round together and not get too upset about a stupid double bogey when I hit a ball into the water on hole 4.

109 at City Park (par 67). First ever sub-110 round, even if it is on a short course.

Brag: had five bogies in a row on the back nine, my best ever streak of that sort. Granted, three of those were par-3s, but I'll take it. Could have been seven in a row had it not been for two dreadful chip shots on #16 and a 3-putt on #17. Solid putting overall, though, with 34 total. Had a par putt from about 45 feet that ended up two inches short. 3 bunker shots today, and in every instance I got onto the green (ok, one was on the fringe) and then two-putted. Obviously getting up-and-down would be better, but no skulls and nothing left in the bunker is a good day from the sand for me. Also, didn't lose a single ball, nor did I have a single penalty stroke.

Beat: horrible ball striking on the front nine. There were a handful of short par-4s I should've done a lot better with.

Variance: got done in a little over 3 hours, but it felt slower because there were two really slow groups ahead. And the slow play meant that I was hurrying to beat the rain on #17, and had to play in the rain on #18. Ended up finishing double-triple but probably could've played a stroke or two better had I not been rushing my chips and putts on those two holes. Hit my best tee shot of the day on #18, so go figure.

I played a much easier course today and from the whites with my friend, but... had my best round ever by 10 strokes! First time breaking 80, which won me a bet that I could shoot 79 or better by July 15th.

We went off on #10 so I left myself a ton of wiggle room on the front, which I guess I needed. Definitely played a little weak/scared just to preserve the sub-80.

My three rounds prior to this (at the tough course) were 93, 87, 86 (lots of practice/lessons in between) so the next goal is 79 there.

Wednesday 2nd June - 44-39-83 (par 66)

Got my first (and probably last) EAGLE!!!...Short par 4, drove about 265 to green and chipped in from the fringe, sweet!

Sunday 6th of June - 52-52-104

Meh, first round over 100 in the 6 games since I broke 100 last month, generally unhappy with my performance, driver was wildly out of control, irons were fairly rubbish but chipping was good and putting was meh.

What's really annoying though is that I have negotiated a whole day off from the wife on Saturday (she's planning on being really hungover all day!) and wanted to have a whole day of golf with my pals...turns out NONE of them are available for various reasons...FML.

44 (par 35). What a ****ty evening to be out there. Cold, rained the whole time, miserable.

Not that it matters, but 4/6 fairways, 3/9 greens, 21 putts.

heh, on my 16th (hole seven) I hit a solid drive up the middle leaving around 100 to the pin. There was OB past the green and I was just trying to avoid that knowing breaking 80 is near so I took a lot off my PW and ended up chunking it 20 yards. Then hit 54 degree wedge short for my 3rd shot, chipped 10 feet past hole and 2 putted.

17th was routine par 3, hit 8 iron 20'ish feet away and two putted.

On 18 I just had to get a 10 to break 80 (normally wouldn't care that much but I had a fairly sizable bet with my friend that I could break 80, so I hit like driver, 9 iron, 9 iron short of the par 5 (lol). The parking lot is past the green that I think counted as OB too, so same story as before. Left a pitch short, chipped and 2 putts later...

Rancho Canada-East (Carmel, CA) - 69.5/122/6125

84 (41/43) - 6 pars, 11 bogeys, 1 dbl -- & best hcp diff to date... next revision will be <18 for first time.

Course was mediocre, but got through quickly. Golf is a much easier game when every tee shot avoids any trouble. Really improving my consistency of late.
