I don't have a fancy OP or anything. But now that we are in 2024, and are back to calendar schedules instead of the reach-around schedule, its time for a new thread.

first

Nick Dunlap is a special talent

only the second player ever to win the Junior Am and Am

and close to becoming the first Am to win a PGAT event since MBS' good buddy

It's crazy that its been 30+ years since an am has won on tour.

If Dunlap holds on, this will probably be the best week ever to be the guy who comes in 2nd place

GL to the am. Solid crew of players on his heels.

In other news while it's not the PGA, Rory follows up a disappointing finish with another win in Dubai. With his playing schedule increased pre-Masters you can tell he wants it bad this year. Looks in great form.

No way I'm taking those odds on Dunlap although I'll be rooting for him.

Not taking Thomas as it's really tough to follow up a 61.

Burns isn't a terrible play.

Definitely take Bezuidenhout at those odds as he's only 3 strokes from 2nd(the leader is a total wildcard) and only 1 player in between.

Xander kind of in the same boat although he's a shot further back at worse odds.

Not taking Si Woo even though I sat next to him and chatted a bit at a wedding dinner a few months ago. Was wearing a really cool looking watch.

Nostranitbo ... Bezuidenhout just lipped out a birdie putt on #8 to tie for the lead

Dunlap cold shanked his drive on #7 w an iron into the middle of a pond

Still a chance for Bezuidenhout with that birdie on 18 and a nervous tee shot from Dunlap

up-and-down kid for the W!

Bo convinced me to put $5 on Bezuidenhout, so I have to admit I was rooting against Dunlap. Amazing win though. Hopefully, this is the start of the Tour delivering again.

Man that is impressive. Sophomore in college.

Side note what a meltdown by Burns.

There was serious value there, win or lose it was a good bet.

Pretty cool to see the kid pull it off. Will be interesting to see how he proceeds. Will he turn pro tomorrow? Will he finish out the season at Bama? He’s got full status on tour through 2026 regardless.

He needs to join the PGA Tour to get full exempt status, i.e. declare pro.

He could remain amatuer and play up to 12 full field events as a non-member. Not sure about sponsor exemptions limit.

If he declares pro he loses 2024 British Open exemption, but gains 2024 PGA. He's already exempt for 2024 US Open regardless of pro status, and his AmEx win gets him in the 2024 Masters if he decides to turn pro.

No brainer to me, thanks for the 2 years guys, hello world.

100% turn pro since nothing is guaranteed. Will automatically get money at elevated events and probably will get some endorsement deals. Set for life.

And don't understand why the Tour doesn't run Wednesday through Saturday for the January events. Had some thrilling finishes that I half assed paid attention to since I had money on it completely undershadowed by the NFL.

Also had money on Bez and did it after day 1, so was nice to have a sweat. Would've won if he didn't **** up those easy par 5s but that's because he can't hit it long enough to not be in those positions.

Unless I got X'd with fake news, sounds like he has withdrawn from the Farmers? Probably thinking over what to do. But yeah, seems so tough to not turn pro.
