I know that the big Bertha driver comes out on Friday. Do all manufacturers release new drivers before the end of the year? Ping, TaylorMade, Titleist? I might get another fitting to see if the epic Sub-Zero is still best for me.

Edit. I seem to recall that TaylorMade didn't release new clubs until the beginning of the year last year, so I'm guessing that is probably the norm for them?

Callaway and TM typically release clubs every February at the PGA Show on a 12 month cycle. Titleist and Ping typically release clubs on an 18 month cycle, but Covid threw a wrench into Ping releasing some stuff this summer. Don’t know off the top of my head how some of the others do it.

IMO, look for an unusually high amount of clubs to be released in February.

If I go out and look for another 3-wood I think I'm going to go with an Epic Flash. For some reason when Callaway adds "computer AI" that means it doesn't work for me.
The flash sub zero has been a good 3 wood for me. I don't like with Callaway that you can only go down 1 degree with the default tip adapter (and hate that their new 3 woods are bonded). I've just found it to be relatively unforgiving compared to some other heads that I hit. Low on the face shots would spin off the planet for me.

Hopeful this SIM works out... really never had a 3 wood that I'm super confident with in my entire life. Seems like a huge leak.

Based on the three 3-woods that I hit into par 5's at Sawgrass today, the Rogue will not be coming out of the bag any time soon.

Got myself a Rogue 3W this week too. Not enough of a sample size off the ground yet, but pretty much perfect for me off the tee so far.

Variance: I put my old 816 H2 back in the bag yesterday and hit it GREAT.
New head arrived while was at Sawgrass. Got to play it yesterday and it looks like a keeper. Still getting used to it but I think the plan is to turn it down a degree to 18* and then take my 816 H2 and increase loft to 21* and kick the 4 iron out of the bag.

Also got the new SIM 2iron UDI with a tensei white 100g TX tipped 2 inches.

Excited to hit them both. Bag feels really close to being done for now.
Finally got out to play 9 holes with them today after hitting a million crappy range balls with both. 3 wood was almost going too far, but had a perfect tight ball flight. I'm pretty excited because I've never had a 3 wood I've been super comfortable with in my entire life... we'll see.

2 iron seems good. A little easier to hit than the 2 iron I've had in my bag for past couple of years with a KBS tour-v steel shaft in it. Will put both in play for my tournament this weekend.

Did you get the shafts in your hybrids SST Pured? If so, when you tweak the lofts you’ll mess up the Pure orientation. Unless of course you remove the adapter and have a new one installed at the different angle.

I've got a friend trying to set up a golf sim room, he was considering Trackman but he has not liked his interactions with them. This is in a heated garage that is 12.5x18

Open to getting quotes for full builds or buying a screen and setting it up himself, would like it to be presentable for guests.

I looked into this a fair bit myself many years ago, but just decided to get a net and hit into that instead of getting a full setup. We're in Alberta atm, advice appreciated

Went for a driver and 3w fitting yesterday. The fitting shop I’ve worked with fit me into a driver many years ago I never hit well on the course. So my current driver is self fit (launch monitor on an outdoor range but all just stock shafts and such).

My current 3w couldn’t be improved upon, so no change.

Got a new shaft for my driver - Oban Devotion HB 6. No crazy gains but launching higher with tighter dispersion. Should get it in the next 2 weeks and if I don’t like the one course performance this fall season I’ll consider a whole new setup and maybe a new fitter over the winter.

I bought a single pink Volvik Vivid for shits and giggles before my round Sunday.....and I think I found my new golf ball. I hit my drives on 1 and 2 further than any drive I can remember on those two holes. However, I honestly wonder if something "goes away" after a few shots....I hit the ball a decent distance the rest of the round, but not as noticeably as the first couple of holes.

If I were a decent amount better than I am I wouldn't like this ball....shot shaping is kind of non-existent, but as it stands, it helps my game at this point that there's very little movement. You're also not going to get much juju out of them...I had them stopping OK with 9 iron in, but longer irons didn't get much check at all, even in super soft conditions.

The feel when you putt isn't for everyone, but I really liked it.

I ordered a hybrid shaft from 2nd Swing so I can (a) test out a theory or (b) have a shaft I like handy if I ever decide to swap out my Mizuno 3h for a Titleist 3h.

Finding a 6h shaft that isn't a complete noodle has been difficult, so when I found an Atmos shaft for cheap, I snapped it up. It's a pull from a 19*, I'm going to try swapping it into my 21* and the shaft from the 21* into the 27*. The shaft from the 21 will still be much longer than standard, but with my height that's not a comfort issue, it's just a gapping issue (and it may well impact performance, I dunno and won't until I try it). I could also talk to my local shop about trimming it but I'd probably buy a different shaft for that, the Atmos doesn't need to be stiffer.

If none of this works I may throw the 5i back in the bag as an option to the 6h when I'm not feeling it and pull one of my wedges.

Anybody have a preferred Stand Bag for walking and carrying?

I've played about 75 rounds this year and have finally worn out my 5 year old Ogio stand bag. Just doesn't seem to be much that differentiates one brand from another, was curious if there's something I'm not aware of when choosing my next bag.

I’m still using an old Ping ultralight bag when I carry but I’d start by looking at a Sun Mountain 3.5 if I were in the market.

I have cycled through lots of stand bags over the years.

I had an Ogio Grom bag for a couple years, liked it at first but then it wore out its welcome with me. Didn't like the elastic ball pouch and the straps were terrible for carrying, it was the bag that prompted me to use a Clicgear 3.5+ for pushing instead.

Have had Ping Hoofers (fine), Callaways (okay).

I did at one point really want to find the perfect 14-way back (the Ogio was 14-way) but it doesn't exist. They just fail for a variety of reasons: no true full length dividers, grip/club wear, top divider gets worn out, bag is too heavy.

Finally got a 2019 Sun Mountain 4.5 LS stand bag (green/orange). God damn I love this bag. Very comfortable to walk and carry with, to the point I have abandoned my Clicgear and haven't used it for over a year. Lots of storage, good organization.

Would highly recommend Sun Mountain and will seek out their stuff going forward.

I have the Titleist 4 plus bag currently and it's light and comfortable for walking but the dividers suck. I have also heard good things about Sun Mtn bags - what my brother and his caddie friends at Bandon almost exclusively use (especially if you play in elements and get a H2No version).

I use a 3.5 in the summer and a H2No the rest of the year.

I need to get a new cart bag. The tops of the 14 way divider are starting to fray. Where the strap goes around the bag there is a hole from wear. Also one of the zippers broke. So yeah, I need a new one badly. Trying to hold out til they have a closeout in the pro shop at the end of the year.

All season my driver misses, and a real detriment to my game, were short, high, right drives. I KIND of figured out the right aspect, but couldn't do a damn thing to hit it lower AND longer. At the suggestion of my teaching pro, I put a stiff shaft on yesterday, and I'm cautiously optimistic it's the solution, as dramatic as that sounds. Only played nine holes, but every drive was longer than usual, by a good margin. Even better, when I felt a miss with my swing, it ended up in a much better spot than usual.

Just in time for the rains to come...

Anyone ever heard of/used this? Seems like it could be fun for winter months at a very reasonable price but also seems like a lot could go wrong and it could be very corny

re: carrybags,

Used a Titleist Stadry (s) for about 300 rounds. First one had some details that werent great, but it broke anyway and then replaced with a newer model and the details were better and did like it quite a bit. Somehow I did not get the straps adjusted perfectly though, probably just own fault though. Was pretty durable. This season used a H2NO Sun Mountain and that one I got perfectly adjusted and like it a lot. Also had an Ogio but havent used that much, it wasnt as easy to lift to back and actually the legs struggled a bit to open up when putting down.

New cart bag. Grown accustomed to the Titleist ones since there is no changing where stuff is placed. Ended up buying from pro shop since they took 20% off. Also has the club logo on it.

Nice job Lightning. I started rooting for them when Yzerman moved over and have continued since he came back home.

Ordered a Scotty Phantom 12 @ 35 inches with some shop credit, hopefully that comes in a reasonable time period.

Have a tensei white 70g TX with a callaway adapter tipped 1 inch @ 45 inches sitting in a box off ebay for $160, excited to try it. My Mavrik Sub Zero has been benched in favor of the Sim for a while with a variety of different shafts. Have loved the tensei white 80g tx in my 3w, and 100g TX in my 2 iron. Hopefully the driver shaft feels as smooth/stable.
