And it's usually within a couple yards of what the range finder shows anyway. Any recommendations for that type of GPS device? I'm checking to see what he has also.
That is, a small GPS device that would fit in my pocket. Not a watch or handheld device. He's got a Callaway eclipse

Get a golf watch or a smart watch and download and app. That's what I use, quick easy and distances to everything you need

Which watch and app do you use? I like the idea of having a small GPS that matches up to an app where I can look at a hole on my phone

I guess I feel like it takes me about 5-10 seconds to get the distance with the laser range finder, but it would be nice to have the other distances. Front/back/water carry...

Picked up a dozen yellow ProV1's from lostgolfballs since I can't seem to hit the fairway or find the white ball in the rough when I miss it as well as a dozen pink Volvik for my wife. Those really feel good to her and she hits them well. it's my first purchase from them. The balls are supposed to be mint, 5A I think it is. Whatever the highest rating is they have.

I bought 96 of the near mint 4A older version of the Taylormade Project A balls off of Lostgolfballs. There was one Burner ball and one Rocketballz in the box, ha.

I love the old Project As a lot though. Great soft feel and jumps off the club. Like them a lot more than the (a) ball they make now.

I think I have a problem when it comes to bags. I've bought like 4 bags in the last... 6-8 years? Is that too much?

Anyways got fed up with my 2017 Ogio Grom bag. The carry straps were just awful and used this elastic effect for "comfort" but all they end up doing is twisting and tangling, making carrying a huge pain. Which is why I invested in a Clicgear 3.5+ push cart and never carried.

I carried it a couple weeks back and really enjoyed the change from walking rather than pushing the cart, and it just gave me a bigger reason to get a new bag.

I got the Sun Mountain 4.5LS, so far really really good. Less club tangle from the 14-way top of the Ogio which was a big issue, much more comfortable to carry and it's actually a bit lighter too. Got the green/orange combo. My first Sun Mountain bag but I like it a lot so far.

I've had mine for over 20 years, so I might have the opposite problem 😅🤔

I have 2, a cart bag, and a carry bag.

I remember Sun Mountain was THE BAG back when I played in high school. No such thing as a waterproof bag back then. We used to tie garbage bags around the bottom of the bag to keep water out.

Had a tour van driver fitting today at 2nd swing. Pretty impressive place imo. Fitter I worked with definitely knew his stuff. Every combination he gave me got better than the last until about the 5th one when it started getting worse. Tried a few others after that, but none could beat #4. So within 4 tries he had found the best fit for me and I think that's pretty impressive. From my current gamer, I went from an Epic sub zero to the Ping G410 LST and the shaft I ended up with is the Fujikura Speeder Pro 2.0 7 Tour Spec at 78.5 grams.
Here's the improvement in numbers:
Swing speed stayed very consistent through every combo right at 99-100.5
Old gamer - Epic.................................................G410
Ball Speed - 144.................................................. ..148
Launch Ang - 15.8.................................................. .14.4
Spin - 3200.................................................. ........2600
Carry - 225.................................................. ..........248
Total - 245.................................................. ..........270
Distance offline - 80 feet Left...................................7 feet Left

IDK how much I trust the launch monitor (we used trackman) but I have pretty consistently averaged 260 total for the last year so the 245 doesn't jive and I know I carry it more that 225. Probably because I was hooking the crap out of it today. Can't wait to get it and see what it does on the course!

Unfortunately this shaft was not a stock offering so the upcharge sucks, but you can't dispute the numbers. It is an unreal improvement to the club that has cost me more strokes a round than anything else in the bag even comes close to. Now I need to work on increasing that swing speed.

How much was the up charge?I had my first long game fitting this year and it's the first time I can remember not asking how much something costs. I just handed him my credit card. Lol.

Like I tell everybody, you're probably going to pay whatever the price is because you know going in it's going to be expensive. You're not going to ask how much the second best club you hit was.

Was the epic Sub-Zero a new club for you this year?

After I am done tweaking the swing a bit this fall I think I'm gonna to a long game fitting in the Spring once all of the new toys are out. I had one last fall and my long game stuff didn't change one bit.

The shaft was $220 on top. He claimed it to be a $400 shaft, but I looked later and found it for $250 online. I thought I should have taken a stock shaft and then ordered this one myself so I could have both, but I want him to build this for me to the exact specs as the one I was hitting at the fitting and the only use I would have for the stock shaft would be when I decide to sell the club later but want to keep the shaft I was fitted for. Anyway, I said give me the closest shaft in specs that is a stock option and he tried two that were similar and I hit one of them ok, but the numbers just weren't even close enough to consider. I decided if I'm spending the money on this, I want what will give me the best, most consistent results possible. Truth will be told when I get it on the course.

The epic was just a club I picked up last year to try out and I did a bunch of tweaking to it myself. I also have an M2 that I still pull out when I lose the fairway too much. Both are getting traded in for the new one. He let me keep the one I wanted until the new one comes. He said there will be a return label in the box and just throw the old one in there and send it back to us when you get the new one.

In the end, driver is the part of my game that costs me the most strokes. If I'm hitting it good, I can shoot low 70's all day. If I'm struggling with it, I am in the high 70's to low 80's. Generally it has been on the hitting it poorly side this year.

That's great and it sounds like the service is top notch as well. $220 is easier to swallow than another $400! Interesting about the trade-in. I never thought about asking about that, but my driver is new this year anyway although it has been frustrating. I have considered another fitting but the problem is most certainly me and not the club. However, I will keep that in mind if I decide to get a different driver.

I hear you on the driver. throughout my life it's been the club that has easily cost me the most strokes. I'm a low to mid 80s guy these days if the driver is going well and low to mid to even high 90s guy if I'm spraying it all over the course taking penalties and slicing it or pulling it.

They set it to full draw based on the fitting and I have been trying to hit it straight all year even though I have hit a fade all my life. Maybe someday I will take it off the full draw setting and see how that works. The club was good at the fitting, but I'm all over the place with this thing. Most of my life, everything I hit poorly went to the right and now it's going right and left, hard right and hard left.

Yikes, I feel for you there. Sounds like you're trying to correct it every other shot, maybe even subconsciously. Was super interesting to see my numbers as this was my first time on trackman with the driver. I had no idea I was spinning it so much and finding out that my club path was averaging 5* from in to out was a shock as well. I can promise you, knowing that will do nothing but improve my game. I never would have guessed that I need to have a clubface that was 3-4* open to the target at impact to get my desired result. Now that I do, I will be hitting much better drives, so it was a fitting/lesson all in one for me. My AoA was averaging 4.5* up as well, which was surprising. If you know anything about the golf swing and what these numbers mean, you can do a lot of good by going for a fitting. If only I could afford my own launch monitor...

Picked up a new travel cover for my bag:

Looking forward to trying it out at my next golf trip to Tenerife this autumn.

For some reason, I've spent 8+ years with a terrible Wilson Staff travel cover and never gotten around to getting another one until now even though I've been cursing it every damn trip I've been on.

On the plus side, the Wilson Staff folded down really small when not in use. On the not-so-plus-side, some genius designed it so it does not have a 'central carry handle'. It has a handle at top and one at the bottom. Great for grabbing it to put it on a baggage belt - not so great for longer distances where it can not be rolled. Having to either use two hands to carry it (obv extra hands are all around when you're out travelling) or screw up your fingers trying to just grip the fabric of it and squeezing for dear life is just a great design.

I guess it builds character and grip strength, but still... yay! New travel bag!

Tried a few. Ended up purchasing golfzon. It's 35 a year or 100 lifetime. Syncs to phone and has full map on the watch. Distance to front middle back and ability to figure out hazard distances. Worth the money imo. Been using a watch for heads and feel lost without one in my wrist. Even short 50 yard pitches I like to look at my watch right before my shot as a mental way of saying okay hit this 50 yards

Bought the Footjoy Pro SL, since they were the only size 14 shoe that was available in golf galaxy. Realized my golf shoes were hilariously worn out. Had been using True Links shoes for the past 2 years, but all the tread is gone. Fun to go back to something that is super grippy even though they're "spikeless".

Also swapped out the Tensei Orange TX for this Hazardous Smoke "Hulk" 70g 6.5TX. Pictured are my old golf shoes and the 6.5 version, which I swapped out for the TX and hit today. I really am not loving this Epic Flash Sub Zero head, thing is so hook setup. May end up gouging more money and swapping out for an M5. Debating between the Tour head and the regular.. would depend on how it would work with existing shafts I owned.

Every year my friend's wife asks me what to get him for golf. Last year was an Epic driver. I swung for the fences this year and said he should get new irons. 718 AP2s with PX LZ 6.5 shafts, and she went for it.

This dude owes me.

Very nice.

And hopefully your friend is a 5 or better who hits his 7-iron at least 180.

Checks GHIN....

Yeah he is currently a 4.0

He currently games Titleist irons that are 15 years old or so, I forget the exact ones. The grips are all worn and there is hockey tape on them.
