grabbed another nike web belt. love those things, they work well as golf bets but also function well just as everyday belts particularly on shorts.

Brought a couple of RBZ stage 2 hybrids #4 and 5 to replace an old TM 4 hybrid and a 4 iron I never could hit well. I let you know if they work as well as they look.

Not a smash and grab by any means. Its a great ball that performs well. May as well go big or go home. Nobody likes to run out of golf balls.

You will LOVE the grip. Have been using the SS grips for a few years now. Plan on your h/c dropping a min of 2 strokes per rounds from your current h/c.

Picked up a Nike golf bag, perfect condition, looks like newer model, for $10 at Goodwill today. Kind of sad to let the old Hoofer go, but couldn't pass that deal up.

Yeah they came new but in generic packaging, that was the reason for the price.

New waterproofs - had a great soaking yesterday at an Invitation (couldn't pull out) and realised my current ones had lost their ability to keep out the bad stuff!

Should be here by the weekend.

Got some new rain gloves at the same time.

Have just enough money in my winnings account at the club to pay for them.

Need some advice. I'm using these irons (purchased new in '01):

http://www.titleist.com/golf-clubs/i...ize-black.aspx

This driver:

http://www.titleist.com/golf-clubs/d...nium-983k.aspx (used 2004)

This 3W:

http://www.titleist.com/golf-clubs/f...way-woods.aspx (used 2002ish)

My only other club is a 54 degree Wilson wedge, not sure of the model but its from '01ish.

My handicap is in the 20-25 range.
My struggles are pretty standard. Short game plus consistency everywhere else. Probably have a worse short game than even the average player in that range.

I don't know MPH but I think I have pretty high swing speed? I had it checked back when I bought them and they said I absolutely needed stiff shafts (might have been x-stiff, I don't remember). On a good, full, swing I hit my PW ~135 and my 3I ~230. I don't know if this makes any sense but I also think I hit the ball with a lot more loft than most people I play with.

How much would I benefit from upgrading my clubs? Since its been about a decade I wonder whether getting something from '11/'12 might be cheap and a fair improvement.

I asked this in the BS thread too, but I'm also interested in shoe recs, its time for a replacement. Walking comfort is probably my biggest concern.

A year or two ago I bought a Ping C1 Hoofer bag but I made the rookie move of getting white here in Arizona which obviously led to the bag becoming more light brown than white after awhile...also where the strap was meeting the bag the threads were starting to tear and look pretty crappy.

I started looking around for a new bag (gotta be ping of course) but didn't really want to spend $150. Started poking around craigslist and found an older gentlemen who recently got this Ping Hoofer C1 as a gift but he doesn't walk any courses (only uses a cart) so he didn't want the bag. Sold it to me for $45 cash and the bag has never been used....

pretty good deal imo as these bags are still selling for at least $140-$150 in stores last time I looked. the should have easily been asking $100-$120

It is time for new irons for me and the guy at the golf shop recommended the new Mizuno JPX-EZ Forged irons. I have them on demo and hit them pretty well. A buddy of mine said what you are too good for those, you need to get the player's line, the MP-whatever.

I'm not that good, I'm a 10 handicap but I do strike the ball pretty well (just suck from 100 yards and in.) I don't follow golf stuff at all, but it seems just nuts to me that any guy that's not scratch could be too good to play a set of $700 irons. Would a guy like me see any improvement going from the $700 set to the $1000 set?

^ NO, not imo....if you are a 10 handicap you need some forgiveness but it sounds like you need to practice your short game if you really want to knock some strokes off your score.

get a bucket of balls and chip/putt at least once a week in between playing your rounds and guarantee you can lower your score if you improve your touch

No and hell no. The $1000 set of irons will probably hurt you more than help you.

Yeah I agree with this. I'm working on it, joined a club near my house this year, the ultimate practice routine posted here has actually done a hell of a lot for me.

But yeah thanks for the advice, before I jump on this are there any clubs you'd recommend or is it just all how they feel? Maybe even these Mizunos are overkill. I've never even been fitted before this, my current clubs are Cleveland CG-16s with regular shafts, I did a couple fittings and both said I need stiff shaft irons, regular length.
