My personal opinion is you'd see the most gain by getting fit to the proper shaft, as long as it's paired with a head that feels good to you.

On that subject, my 915D2 arrived today so I went out and hit a few dozen drives on the course. Definitely the wrong shaft for me (Diamana M+ Red 50) -- I like a heavier shaft with less torque/that's tip stiff. Even though it's quite a bit newer than my Ping i20 I wouldn't say I was hitting it notably further. Definitely fun to play with the adjustments since I've always had a glued driver until now.

I'm hoping to hit a big demo day on Friday, will decide after that whether to go new (with or without a full custom fit), buy used shaft(s) for the 915D2, or either eBay another i20 or re-glue my i20.

Hi all - what sites to you folks use to gauge the value of used clubs that you are either going to buy or sell? I might have just bought some stuff I shouldn't have...

Surprisingly enough, today I bought nothing.

Hit demo day. Ended up hitting three drivers. Ping G400 with Alta CB 55 stiff, then Tour 65 regular. Callaway Rogue with Project X Evenflow Blue 65g 6.0, then Fujikura Pro 62 Green. Cobra F8 with HZRDUS yellow 65 S

The Ping Tour shaft was much better than the Alta for me. I would have liked to try it in a stiff, but I got good results with the regular. With the Callaway the Evenflow felt terrific. Results a little inconsistent but I could do good things with it. The Pro 62 shaft was too much for me. The Cobra was surprisingly good and I like the feel of the HZRDUS though it was shorter than the Ping Tour and Evenflow.

I'd really like to see some numbers and get a real fitting if I'm going to spend the money to buy new, we'll see if that happens.

I haven't bought golf equipment in 15 years. I have no clue these days what is good and what isn't. I just started playing again a couple months ago. I simply wanted to find 2 hybrids to replace my 3 and 4 irons. I saw this guys ad online and it just had a picture of a bag full of clubs and a crap ton of others next to it. I asked him for details and he said he wasn't a real golfer and if I want to see for myself he would meet me. So I did. He didn't have the type of hybrids I was looking for - but I bought everything he had for $70.00. Although he didn't say it - he inferred everything was his brothers and I think maybe he passed away. I guess I better learn how to sell golf stuff online...

Before the big goll ball companies came out with soft models some people discovered that low compression balls made for ladies worked well in certain conditions. The Precept MC Lady was the ball of choice.

I'm no expert but I buy and sell stuff on eBay, Facebook marketplace and occasionally craigslist. eBay and the PGA value guide are good resources for figuring out what stuff is worth.

I need to find someone around here with a similar bag issue -- I'm looking for a cheap one to throw extra clubs into for storage and pickings are slim. I'm sure I'll end up finding something suitable at a garage sale or thrift store eventually.

Yeah check the PGA value guide and then try GolfWRX to sell them. They are pretty old so it might be tough though. One option is to wait for a 150% trade-in on something like Rock Bottom Golf and see what you can get for everything and get the credit for the store.

Bought three different shafts on the bay today. Currently winning on a couple drivers. Once all this stuff gets here and I spend some time at the range it’s going to be time to sell sell sell.

Picked up a replacement Ping i20 driver. Decided to pass on a Titleist 915D3, though I will still probably pick one up (or maybe a 917D3) assuming that I won't be completely satisfied with one of the incoming shafts in the 915D2. Also passed on a Ping G, want to see how the shaft performs in the i20 I bought before considering a G/G400/etc.

Spending way too much time on eBay and Golf WRX lately.

Ordered a 1+ hybrid (14 deg) from Thompson Golf. I used to carry a hogan 0 hybrid that was among the clubs that was stolen during the ten years I quit the game, apparently because club thieves love hitting ground balls.

I can't even find a mention of the hogan zero, much less one for sale.

I really liked this club when I hit it at a demo day. If I ever come across a used one with Hzrds Yellow X-Stiff I am picking it up. Only ones I have seen so far are the higher lofted ones.

One of the guys I play with still has a Hogan zero hybrid in his bag.

Well, not much of a story I'm afraid. Went to Scotland and played some good courses, but were too late to book anything at St Andrews.

Went there on the Sunday, visited the museum (and got the whisky-glasses) and walked around the courses for a while. The final round of some tournament was going on, so we got to watch some guys being announced and teeing off.

Went to the Swilcan Lounge hoping to get some lunch, but were told they only let in people who'd played that day, so we had to make do with nachos at the cafe above the museum instead. Nachos were good and the cafe has a great view over the first hole.

Awesome place and almost unreal to see it in person after having watched so many tournaments from it - definitely going back to play some of those courses one day.

. Any chance of a trip report?

I received my replacement i20 yesterday and bagged two drivers today. It preformed pretty well the couple times I ht it. Received my last shaft purchase today so I'll be swapping that into the Titleist head for tomorrow's round.

Or on second thought, no I won't. The last shaft is off to the shop for a different tip.

Today I bought a Titleist 915D3 driver. I found one with a shaft I want to try and got a decent price on the bay. I've wanted to see how the D3 head compares to the D2. I've been happy with the D2 with the "right" shaft (more on that in the Misc thread) so it may be hard to beat.

And I just watched the last minute of an eBay auction for a hybrid. Actually fist-pumped when I got sniped in the last six seconds since I had decided I didn't want to win after all.

Nearly bought a set of Ping S57 irons but sanity prevailed ... barely. I really want a set of S55s.

Pulled the trigger on Cleveland rtx 3.0 black satin wedges even though I wasn't going to cuz they were $80cad. Not sure if I'll keep them. Went 48/52/56/64. Never had a 64 before and I'm not sure it'll make it in the bag. Kinda regretting not grabbing a 60 but they didn't have a low bounce version.

My 12 dozen z-star xv5 finally shipped too so I should have enough balls for a month or so
