No experience with the MyGolfLocker concept, wouldn't work for me. But I have bought shoes from GolfLocker in the past, they used to have good deals on closeouts.

According to my Ring doorbell I have one of these waiting for me on my porch when I get home:

Getting old so I'm going to give a pushcart a try.

guessing you will be more than satisfied with that purchase. clicgear is the only option in pushcarts, imo.

I do miss walking occasionally. No walking down here on regular courses.

Looking for recommendations for gear to wear when temps are in the 50s and there is some rain and the course is soggy. Mostly thinking about shoes and some kind of rain jacket. Do you guys wear a jacket with a hood?

a 3-4 hour walk up and down hills is probably the best cardiovascular exercise a person can do. it's strangely dichotomous; almost nobody goes on a 4 hour walk just for the exercise. my grandpa was a life long golfer and is still puttering around at 96 years old, and i'm betting his mind will fail before his body.

i've been thinking about this a lot lately actually, that walking a golf course is the perfect human activity. i understand why it's addicting/obsession generating. it straddles the line perfectly between order and chaos, which is where anything interesting exists.

you're walking through nature (chaos) but it has been perfectly mowed and manicured (order). you've got to put a 1.5 inch ball into a 4 inch hole 400 yards away (chaos) but it's actually likely that you will do it if you've learned the right technique (order).

so while you're walking through the wild along a path that has been perfectly manicured for you, your success in the game hinges on whether you can manicure the wild within your self. amazing!

edit: whoops, this is the equipment thread

I'm with you. I really should try walking more December-February though.

I have $150 in Golf Galaxy gift cards blowing a hole in my pocket. I need to find a new carry bag, both for travel and for potential walking rounds.

if you have had Footjoy shoes in the past and know the size that works for you, i highly recommend these if you want to walk wet courses in the winter.

http://www.footjoy.com/waterproof-go...iABEgI70vD_BwE

Footjoy has always been extremely consistent with their sizing no matter which shoe you get, and these were some of the most comfortable golf shoes i've ever worn from the first time i walked a round.
There's a very limited selection of true waterproof high-top golf shoes. i also own a pair of first generation Nike Bandon's (which are the inspiration for the Footjoy version), and Footjoy is so much better.

Yeah I love this shaft(9 hokes so used it 6 times, even on holes I don't)

Was surprised at the distance I picked up, especially on ones that weren't dead flush. Still probably going to chop half an inch as 45.75" is silly long.

I must have been spinning my speeder 665x at like 3k to gain the distance I did. We will see if the love is still there in 15 rounds.

Still mildly curious if the synergy black would have been playable for me as my swing is fairly smooth loading, but still decent speed but I couldn't justify $400 for a shaft, was like $370 used so obv holds value. The trackman numbers I have seen on the black form others is insane. (115 mph swing, 60 gram 1900 or so and 70 gram 1700 or so)

Question about Honma and Epon clubs. I hadn't really heard of these brands until I researched and realized they are cast at the same place Endo that all the best brands are. I have never played them and plan to soon. Do any of you have reviews you could share?

I've just bought some MP60s and they feel great! I'm looking forward to hitting the practice areas hard for the first time in years.
I have a couple of Mizuno wedges and love them. The 58 degree is showing signs of wear, so it needs to be replaced. Sticking with Mizuno.

Words don't do Epon justice. Japanese steel with crazy strict tolerances and no air pockets in the head. Air pockets are one of the reasons why sometimes balls jump or don't jump on similarly hit shots. Lofts are strong but the ball still launches high enough. For the above reasons you'll hit Epons farther with a feel in a club that you've never felt.

Around $300 per club with stock shaft, if you're going to spend that much might as well spend another $50-$100 per club for a proper iron shaft.

I now teach and help fit in one of the few authorized Epon facilities around. Last week a guy drove several hours to see us because he was interested in Epons. He did not leave disappointed.

I want to love blade putters so much but they really don't like me. IF I threw an extra 50 grams of lead tape on the bottom then maybe.

So now that the semester is over, I don't have any summer classes....so I got part-time job at Golf Galaxy! I'm a "player assistant" - meaning, I walk the floor and help customers, sell clubs, etc.

My first 8-hour, clock-in/clock-out job ever!

When it's slow, I hit balls and try different clubs - we have a TaylorMade bay, a Ping, bay, and Titleist bay, and a Callaway bay.

I have a full set of M2's from a couple years ago. Both irons and woods. Also use the 4 and 5 hybrid.

So here's my brief reviews of the clubs I've hit.

Drivers:

So far, I absolutely love the Ping G400 LST (low spin) driver best. It just feels so solid. Great club. The regular G400 and the G400 Max are also great clubs.

The Rouge is right there, too. Very easy-hitting club.

The M3/M4 with Twist Face tech is....good. I just don't feel it's any different from my M2.

Irons:

The M3/M4 - apparently, they are having some issues with this club, but they hit great.

Callaway Epic - very good clubs, but they are fat looking when you're at address...I don't like that.

Callaway Epic Star is amazing to hit...so light and easy to hit, but I'd have to try them on a real course...they can't be this easy to hit. I was hitting a 7-iron 210- yards. Obviously, they are lofted differently, but still.

Callaway Rogue - good clubs....the Pro version is something I'd consider playing.

But the irons I've fallen in love with....wow. the Callaway Apex CF 16.

Man, do I love these clubs. They've somehow gotten their Face Cup tech into a forged iron. So damn good. I've also tried the Pro version, but they're just a tad tougher to hit - but would great for low-handicappers, as you can work these like a true forged club. I'm around an 8 these days, so the regular Apex is perfect for me.

I'm going to have to win a poker tournament soon so I can buy these Apex clubs. Love 'em.

I also really loved the Rogue hybrids...easiest hybrids I've ever hit.

Did you tell them to just pay you in shop credit to make things easier? Also, employee discount?

Let's just say that I'm always surprised at how much better the condition of the actual club is compared to the website's description.
I'm half expecting the 'like new' irons to still have the sticker on them.

Yeah, we get 25% off of the everything but clubs. Clubs are 10%. But I've heard whispers that when the sales reps come in, they sometimes give huge discounts to the people selling their clubs to the public....like 40% off of wholesale.

I'm thinking this job may actually cost me money in the long run.
