That Adams Pro hybrid (3-brid, 19 degree) I bought last week is a ****ing rocket.
Twice last weekend I found myself at 240-250 out on par 5s and thought "I'll just hit this hybrid 215 like I expect and try to get up and down for birdie". Both times I found myself right on the fringe, at least 10-20 yards further than I expected.. Now if only I could draw it, it seems to only want to fade on me.

MA: yea, that too. I'm thinking I should hit up a 9 hole early in the morning myself (when this specific course is relatively empty) and with the help of my bushnell, just place 3 balls ~150, 160, 175, 190, 200 away from the pin. It's a lot more work, but I think it's the most effective way.

Spotts: I have an Adams 3 wood, and it too is a ****ing rocket. I really think Adams hit gold with their little velocity slots.

Also, I still haven't worn my FJ DNA shoes (I posted earlier itt), because the Ecco Biom '13s are just so damn comfortable. I never not want to wear them.
I have access to a State Park here that has a free driving range where you bring your own balls and then pick them up. This way you can measure each ball you hit either by using a range finder back to where you hit them from or step off the yardage from the yardage markers placed on the driving range itself. Do not know if you have a driving range like that in your area at all. You can get the range with any club in your bag this way from SW to Driver.

I love my Adams 3H. Every once in a while I'll top it but that's my only miss. If I don't top it it's over 200 yards and really high and straight almost every time. Too bad I only get to hit it a small handful of times a round. That's the most fun when you have a reachable par 5 and are in the fairway and get to launch your hybrid and legit go for the green.

Curious what is on your wish lists y'all

At the moment I am wanting a SLDR 3 wood with the TP shaft, a set of G25 hybrids, new wedges and a rangefinder.

Going to demo the SLDR driver one of these days, might need to add that.

rangefinder by far the most important tool in the bag imo.

speaking of that, apparently i dropped my old rangefinder a few too many times and it refused to work any more. had a big golf trip coming up (last week, 6 rounds in 4 days) and paid 2 day shipping to get a leupold range finder to me before the trip.

it arrived the afternoon before i left. i popped the battery in and tested it out in the front yard. wtf?!? half of the lines that make up the numbers in the viewfinder don't work. i can't tell if the number is a 3 or a 5 or an 8 because all of the vertical lines don't show up.

needless to say i just sent that thing back and bought another brand. such dissapoint.

Have £60 to spend in the Pro shop after our Seniors Open win - pity our shop is full of overpriced crap! Sleeveless waterproof top seems the most likely if they have one, as mine is leaking now.

Sounds like a typical 'winning' at a tourney. Apply the winners discount to overpriced merch and you're only slightly above what it's really worth.

Yeah lol - last year we (different guy - not a senior - my winter league partner) were leading our main Pairs Open with one group to come in and some friends pipped us into 2nd - I called my partner who had to leave before the end and told him we had upgraded to 2nd place!

1st place was vouchers in the shop and 2nd place was £10 less but for the supermarket where we shop, so it was basically cash in hand!

We are a private club that plays over a municipal course, so we give out 1st place prizes with shop vouchers to keep things sweet.

In my experience, municipal courses have better pricing (in the Pro shop, for merchandise) than other privately owned public courses.

For example, I bought a box of Titleist NXT Tour S balls today at a municiple course and they were the exact same price as all the stores I usually buy them from (which was unexpected).

Unfortunately, our shop (maybe the chain - the franchise that runs the club for the council has several courses in the UK) sold out to having all of the displays being given free so they were a single merchandising place - Nike. And everything is priced at top price - they don't seem to understand that they will sell more stuff if they price competitively!

i've become accustomed to the winn oversize excel in my iron grips. kept the corded grip on my driver. picked up a driver on the used rack a few weeks ago w a winn dritac midsize and 'knew' it was right! that $10 change was huge..for me!! that small change of having something comfortable in my hands off the tee has been amazing.

Damn those SLDRs feel great and sail out there every time I demo them.
Not willing to spring for the $450 asking price.

Any clue when they will come down?

If you want the standard setup, check out TGW or Dick's or Golfsmith in the next few days. 'Tis the season of Fathers Day golf sales and most places have at least 25% off and free shipping on almost everything (but I'm not sure if SLDR will be one of them).

Pretty sure the fine print on Dicks TV ad excluded the SLDR.... And only the SLDR.

Taylor Made usually releases a new driver about very other day. Just wait for the new model to come out and scoop up the previous model at a discount.

lol so true. i think you should be able to find the sldrs at around 300ish now if you look around..i've never had a real need to have the latest and the greatest--but all the stuff i've read does actually make it out to be a really solid driver..haven't hit one yet.

my current driver is a burner 2.0 TP/matrix shaft.

was at the range today and while i was getting balls saw a basically brand new vokey 58/09 for 30 bux. snagged that. (my main clubs were recently stolen--backups are the same but w/o my wedges--still looking for 1 or 2 more. pw was filling every role lately lol

I wish they would ban them at public courses. You have guys that are 25-30 handicaps using rangefinders as if being 127 or 134 is going to be a huge difference to them, and holding up everybody else.

I imagine that taking the 15 seconds to fire the laser doesn't take as long as finding a sprinkler head and pacing off the yardage.

This argument makes no sense whatsoever.

A range finder will get you the distance quicker than anything else no matter what your skill level is.

And I'm not sure how anyone thinks that the worse a player is, the less he needs to know where and how far to aim, but it's a pretty misguided idea.

Here is one example that occurs at a course I play at. Most of the time it is cart path only. So somebody hits their drive left fairway or left rough. They pull the cart up, walk out with the range finder, get the yardage, walk back to the cart, grab a club. They then duff their shot, walk back to the cart, get the range finder, and repeat the entire thing. Meanwhile the 150 marker is right there, and I could be hitting my drive, but I have to wait for this guy to measure every yardage on the course. The watches, phones, those I don't mind, but when you have to go put it back, it's a tad annoying.

I think that has more to do with that guy being a complete moron than it does with rangefinders actually slowing up play lol

how does that argument make NO sense whatsoever? it should be really obvious why it makes lots of sense actually.

If you read more than the first line, I went on to specify why it makes no sense.
