How many irons are we talking about? And when you say irons, are you also including wedges?

Initial thought is to go one generation back used if you're only teeing it up ~10 times a year.

OK then, 6 irons, 5-PW, you don't want a 4-iron, you want a 4 hybrid. I haven't had a 4-iron in the bag since 2005.

There's a lot of models that would tend to suit your handicap for a grand or less. Ping g425's, Titleist 300 series, both of these one generation old but can still be found new. Could go older with something like TaylorMade M4 irons, they are still relevant. Callaway has multiple options. All with steel shafts which are usually cheaper than graphite.

All of the above are game improvement irons, but not necessarily super game improvement irons. Ping goes one higher with the g710 and Titleist with the 400 series.

Thanks for all the picks and taking the time to reply . It looks like the 2021 Taylor Made M4's are on sale at Golf Town here $699. The other ones still very pricey

Ill be in the big city next week and see what Ill buy

I ended up buying the Wilson Launch Pads. I was in Edmonton and went and looked at Golf Town. Service was terrible by the way . Looked at all the ones ntnBO suggested and was going to pull the trigger on the Launchpads at $999 but they only had lefts All the ones you suggested were $1200 up

Got back to BC and saw Niagara Golf Warehouse had them for $599 with free shipping to anywhere in Canada . I figured they were demos but bought them anyways.

Arrived reasonably quick and were not demos at all. As soon as the ranges open here I am looking forward to hitting them

Just bought a Callaway Apex UW off callaway preowned. Will be interested to give it a try.

I definitely need to be better about trading in or selling stuff I decide isn't working. The golf closet is overflowing.

Went to a Titleist fitting event Saturday and got fit into a TSR3 9* with Evenflow Riptide CB 60S - then set +.75* and 1.5* upright.

Went ahead and ordered it at 45" as it was my first driver fitting in two years that got both extra distance and better dispersion (purple - slightly left of target but the tight bunching sold me).

Liked the feel of the shaft a ton and the head felt good and the sound was nice. And the Titleist experience is pretty top-notch - very seamless process to schedule the fitting, get fit and order.

As always a bit of a shrug and we'll see as I need to be able to swing this thing on the course

I had a similar experience and was also fit into the TSR3 but elected to pass since I had just picked up a PXG. Very solid club.

Arrived late yesterday so I was able to put in play today. Hit a few on the range before going out. Initial reaction very positive. No bad shots. I was surprised how high it launches (it's the 19* model) - if I can get the distance dialed in it will be great for longer approaches. On course used it for one tee ball, two second shots on par 5s and two approaches into greens, 5/5 satisfactory or better shots. I did miss both greens on approach - one was a little ambitious distance-wise into the wind, the other was just a little wide as I played it safe away from water.

Saw an add about Amazon prime golf deals and decided to get a new range finder. Mine doesn't have slope and it isn't very accurate and often I've got to shoot multiple times. I'm looking forward to the pin lock function

This thing is really outstanding! And it's fun to use. The feedback is instant and it seems like it doesn't even take a second to lock onto the pin. I did not think I would be interested in the magnet but figured, what the heck? Well, after one round that's invaluable. Sitting in the cart I just have to reach up and grab it and can shoot the distance while sitting on my lazy ass!

I don't know why Bushnell charges 3x as much, but if you are looking for a good range finder with slope that won't break the bank, I highly recommend this one.

You need to ping the flag, chuck it on the floor and then hit your shot and pick it up with your club. That will get you in the cool club

but yeah a fairly cheap one will do fine for most I've got a £100 one and I love it. Sort of retired the shotscope watch but think I might put it back on soon just to get my distances for clubs again. Watch was great but when it gets hot it gets a bit sweaty and annoying.

How long do wedges last? On a Facebook golf group some random dude said they only last and about 75 rounds not counting practice. That sounds crazy.

Yeah last way longer than that. Don't think I could put a number on it but for your average handicap golfer playing a couple of times a week then its got to be 2+ years. I've got the SM8's and I hit a lot of wedge shots and practice a bit and they are fine. I'm probably closing in on 2 years now if I haven't already passed it.

If you’re not playing comps and you’re worried about them then you can sharpen the grooves

It’s not the rounds to worry about, it’s how many rock hard range balls you hit with them. Those can cave in the grooves real quick.

Something has been wanting me to get some new irons. I use the original stealth irons they are great. When I got them my distances before hand were terrible. Even when I got them my distances were not that great either. However, I believe I've learned to be way more efficient with the club now and gained distance I'm by no means a bit hitter now but it's a lot better than it once was.

My usual miss is either a pull straight left or a hook left I don't actually mind missing left a little I've just got used to it but it can be a bit hard to control sometimes I will rarely miss right. Now I could be barking up the wrong tree here but don't these irons promote me hitting it left? So should I been looking at 790's or 770's or any other equivalent in other brands.

Just thought I'd ask here before going into fitting place. My game is trending in the right direction as well since I got the stealth's I think I went from 10 to 13 and now down to 7.8.

Well, we really have no idea why you are hitting it left, it could be you, it could be the irons. But if we don't know for sure, getting new irons is nothing but a guessing game.

You could have a swing flaw, the shafts in your current irons could be a poor fit, the lie angle cold be a poor fit, etc.

But unless you're a scratch or better you've definitely got no business playing TM 770's.

Best waterproof shoe recommendations?

Had these Mizuno shoes for 4 months which are advertised as fully waterproof but they are crap. Nice shoes but doesn't keep the water out. My shower is more waterproof than these shoes.

i'll always recommend footjoy shoes, especially dryjoys.
if you want to get really serious their hightop waterproofs are fantastic.

Went for these will have to see these are FootJoy Men's Pro |SL Sport. Was going to get the carbon SL's with the Boa but couldn't find a good price and the right sizing.

I did hit up Mizuno about a warranty on the shoes I own hopefully they come through and get me a new pair.

Hoping I can get out in play soon. Terrible conditions over the past couple of weeks in the south of the UK.

i'm interested to hear a trip report
some 'waterproof' shoes are just dew cutters, others are meant for wet fescue
