Also got some new kicks....My last pair is finally on it last legs so we'll see how these are. I like to get out and walk 9, so comfort for walking is a big deal for me and my last pair of sketcher was SUPER comfortable. Will report back when I've had a chance to put a few miles on them.

I had no idea you could get one that measures slope for such a good price. And it looks like it gets great reviews even vs Bushnell. The articles I read were a few years old, but still.

Yeah, got it out on the course yesterday and works great. Locks on flags with no problem. Also allows you to scan along which is nice when trying to find a layup.

Still waiting on the shoes....

They arrived last night, so I haven't had a chance to try them yet, but I'm a little concerned how long the 'spikes' will last. They are a hard-ish plastic and I can imagine them wearing down quickly. They are also a tad bit narrow, which isnt great for my feet. We shall see.

Yeah, I had a pair of them with a rubber sole that were super comfortable for walking, which led me to buying these off costco.

i was on a long weekend golf trip last year, forgot my shoes, and bought a pair of sketchers in the pro shop. the sole wasn't quite like that but similar, and i've worn them ~10 rounds w/out much visible wear on the sole, but i also avoid walking on paths when i can.

I have a nice pair of Adidias shoes with the (non metal) spikes. They are comfy enough but I'm getting to the point where I feel like just wearing regular sneakers. The greens will appreciate it and I highly doubt it will make a ounce of difference. I think it's rained here two days in the last month.

I picked these up a few months ago:

I thought it would be weird wearing a shoe that doesn't have a tongue and wasn't sure about the ankle support, but my ankles were always pretty strong. Turns out it's great and they're easy to get on and off.

Haven’t had white golf shoes before. Concerned about keeping them clean.
We’ll see.

bought Ecco golf core shoes on Monday and wore them yesterday, very comfortable. The soft uppers are great for anyone like me who is prone to bruised toenails.

Don't think so, they are similar though. I got 3rd in a seniors open with a net 66 wearing them for the first time as well

I love Ecco shoes, but my latest pair I went back to Footjoy's.

Ecco's are by far the most comfortable shoes I've ever worn and I like their casual-look line, but ultimately what made me go back to a FJ pair was soft spikes. The spikeless Ecco's would cause me to slip every so often.

I bought a ball retriever yesterday after finding that I kinda enjoy finding or fishing wayward golf balls when killing time waiting on the course. Going to fill the shag bag.

Get off my lawn.

Unrelated I have now seen the PXG Gen 5 drivers for $299 commercial enough times that i am tempted to order one. Have never swung a PXG club. Know it would be a far better use of money to get fit. Still.

You’d almost certainly be better off getting fit for a custom shaft in your current gamer vs some random head you’ve never hit with a crap stock shaft.

Don’t get sucked into ads with some guy yelling at you.

True. I'd also be better off getting lessons and hiring a fitness coach. But ... NEED INSTANT GRATIFICATION.

No worries, I'll be able to resist. After all I'm still using a (lol) Titleist 915D3.

After my trip to NC I noticed my 7 iron had a massive bend in it. Like so bad that it was virtually unplayable. I bent it back as best I could but it was really bad. I ended up having the 7 and 8 iron shafts replaced. Get over a shot today and the PW was just as bad as the 7 iron was. Go ahead and check them all and the 50* was a little off as well. Not sure how the hell this could have happened since I use a hard case for travel. Unless they were taken out for some reason at TSA and were bent there.

that sucks!

My mate who I was playing with yesterday smashes he clubs about when he hits a bad shot and his PW had bent a little, He didn't use it for a while and he got it out yesterday and asked me what would happen if he hit it. I thought it would be fine. He hit it a pretty good shot tbf but the shaft snapped

Were all four clubs bent in a similar direction? If so it almost certainly happened in transit since all irons in a bag tend to orient in the same direction.

Regarding TSA inspection, at DFW airport golf bags are taken to the oversized baggage area where the travel bag is opened and at least some (if not all) clubs are taken out and completely swiped. This method is only used at airports where the screening machine isn’t big enough to send golf clubs through.

Even if you have a hard case the clubs can still move around inside. I could see a big enough jolt still causing issues. So frustrating that this has to be a worry when traveling.

So, first: The shoes a super comfy and are not wearing as quickly as I'd feared. So far, totally worth the money.

Next up: my driver finally died on the last hole of my Tuesday league, so I went out, got fitted, and bough a stealth. Took it to the range yesterday and am loving the ball flight so far. Will report back after Tuesday's round...

More details please regarding the fitting, shafts, etc.

Enjoy!

Bought an R10 launch monitor to make a home sim - before figuring out where to use it in the house. No ceilings are tall enough except in our living room.

First thought about clearing out a garage bay but I know my wife will clutter over all my efforts in the garage.

So now eyeing our screened in deck where our grill is. Cook steak while playing the back 9. Plenty of height but width may be an issue.

Third option is a yard net but I’ve played enough sim golf to know I’ll miss that net at some point. I could just align with the neighbors house… figure they have better insurance.

I just went from PHL to CUN and my golf bag was picked apart. Almost every club was in the wrong spot. I'm convinced I could have had a handgun in my checked bag with no issue, but they felt the need to inspect every club in my golf bag and my bandaids. Luckily I suck at golf and my game wouldn't have suffered with a shaft change.

That being said, if you have a hard travel bag and didn't notice much out of place, then bending in transit seems unlikely (someone please correct me on this if untrue).

As far as shoes, Footjoy BOAs have been awesome, but I'm kind of enjoying my Nike Air Zoom Victory Tour 2 NRGs right now (although I don't play much).

BO, you were saying stuff about fitters in another thread. What should I look for in a club fitter?

After 2+ years of some pretty massive swing changes, I think I'm finally close to what feels like my permanent, repeatable swing. Once that's comfortable I want to do ideally my last driver + fairway wood fitting for 6-10 years.

In the city it seems like my options are fairly limited to GolfTec or Club Champion, I'm sure driving out to the suburbs would yield some more options.
