So saved about $320. I took it to one of the local fitters / club guys and he refused to tip prep and install. He said that he has had 3 of those shafts and the head flew off on all of em.
Doing some research on the Paderson site I read that you are not supposed to chamfer the tip. I had to look that up, basically cut the shaft. In talking to the guy he uses a razorblade to remove pain to prep the shaft, or exactly what the manufacturer says not to do. Took it to another local club guy and they did it no problem.
Was able to use it on the course today as it rained all day yesterday and wasn't able to get to a range. Everything in neutral I was cutting it way too much. Threw the 17 gram weight on the draw setting then it was going way too far the other direction. Dropped the loft to 8.25* to open up the head a bit and it worked great. Very straight flight.
Now we will see if it works the next time I go out to play.
This is the problem with the golf industry these days, some fitters/builders have a clue what they are doing while others do not. I've seen so many crappy builds that we had to fix it's stupid, and most of it from big box stores.
But what I can't wrap my head around in this post is the clubhead settings. In any sort of driver fitting, all the settings are determined before the customer leaves the studio. After all, that's why you go to get fit. In my experience, if something were other than stock settings, we would note that on the build sheet. Loft 8.25*, shaft length 45.75 or whatever. With Ping drivers, we almost never moved the weight to draw, we would simply fit into the SFT model. Or test different shafts to tweak the ball flight. And of course we would never simply re-orient the shaft to a different loft in a Ping because that would screw up the SST Puring.
So I guess my question is, were clubhead settings discussed at any point during the session? Because you need to know those before fitting into a certain shaft. Were different settings tried with the Paderson shaft? If so, what happened with them during the fitting?
I just hate to see people pay good money to get properly fitted, and then that not be the case for various reasons.
