I'll mostly abstain from commenting on what Bob found disagreeable as I'm very new to this forum, except for the part about laying off. I think he was clearly misinterpreted on that particular point. Even though he didn't explicitly indicate whether he was advocating or recommending against laying off, since I was leaning toward thinking he was suggesting it as possibly beneficial based on precisely how he stated it, I'm certain that's what he meant when he later stated that that was the case.

Well, we figured out how to increase post count in this forum!

Several things,

I think to be taken seriously one should spell terms properly. I wasn’t trying to be a dick, just pointing out the error. And it is somewhat understandable seeing as how hosel is actually marked in my browser as an error. It is possibly a bit petty but I think it’s also just part of being a professional.

I have great respect for Trevino, probably the 3rd best ball striker ever behind Moe and Hogan.

As many can attest here, I constantly preach having fun on the course. This was not a shot at Bob or anyone else accusing them of ruining that.

I certainly was not trying to make anyone feel stupid. But I stand by what I said from a teaching perspective. None of us knows what’s wrong with Nate’s swing because we haven’t seen it. I could hit chunks with the divot pointing way left at least 5 different ways that would require at least 5 different fixes. That’s why I suggested he work on his unique basic motion in hopes he can do it himself. It might work, it might not. But I’m never going to say you need to do X Y and Z to fix it without ever seeing his move.

I’m a decent instructor, but not everybody is going to appreciate my teaching methods. I can live with that.

I also agree that if one wants to be taken seriously they should spell key terms correctly and use something resembling proper grammar, but since there are only 24-hours in a day, it was in an AOL chatroom circa 1998 that I gave up trying to correct people on the internet.

So playing with nothing lower than a gap wedge freaking stunk today. Gonna buy a used 56 off ebay again and decided I want a 60 too. Do these look like they'll do the job for now? Anything you'd recommend instead? Ok paying a little bit more but not new prices

Wow those are old. Looks like 2008 from a quick search. Wedges are one spot where I would never buy used. You need the grooves too much. Vokey is currently on SM8, if you go into a golf store you can probably find some brand new SM6's for about half the price of the SM8s. That's the route I would take.

Plus I think I remember you saying you are gonna get a new set of irons soon, Vokey's can fit in both the old and new bags just fine.

Possible counterpoint:

If I remember right, and it's very possible that I don't, the fitting that LFC has scheduled covered irons and wedges. I don't remember the name of the outfit otherwise I'd look it up since it was right on their website.

If you have the chance to get fit don't invest a penny more than you have to before the fitting. Get the right wedges for your game. There is nothing wrong with going with SM6s like Scott suggests, you just want to get the right ones.

Thanks guys. Yea I have a fitting May 5th (earliest they could do and this was 2 weeks ago). He said then it takes about a month to a month a half to have the clubs made and shipped.

So that's a long time to go without a 56 especially if I'm going to be playing 2x/wk. Additionally I believe the fitting is just for irons and wedges and driver and adittional fittings and additional costs ($100 for each) so not currently planning on being fitted for wedges that same day.

Okay, I actually scrolled up and found the link to the fitting place, and it does describe it as an iron and wedge fitting. Not sure how thorough it is with the wedges, it doesn't provide a lot of detail.

Sold, thanks for the heads up, I've been putting it off.

Ah thanks didn't realize they were all in one. KingJames is graciously hooking me up with an old wedge to pass the time til then. Super super nice of him.

As for the Clic Gear I am also not a shill for them, but purchased one based on this threads recommendation a couple of years ago and it's the single best thing I've bought for golf. I love walking to begin with and everytime on the course I get the "I gotta get one of those" from fellow walkers who don't already have one.

I really don’t take much of a divot unless I hit it fat, is that a problem?

Not necessarily, but you are def not compressing the ball very much. Guessing you don't spin the ball a lot?

Which swing trainer do you recommend? I'm looking to strengthen my golf muscles, I guess you'd say and maybe improve flexibility. I exercise everyday, however I'm a little stiff after the first round.

I want to get in better golf shape before we go on a trip in a few weeks and I'm not going to have enough time to get in many rounds before then. I checked Google and was surprised and overwhelmed by the choices. I really don't want to spend $100 on the orange whip either unless it is far superior to everything else.

I bought the new sim2 3w in the 13.5 rocket head. Thing was spinning quite a bit more than the sim 3w for me at the same loft (like 3k with tp5s vs 2400). Like the smaller look from up top as well.

Bought last year's spider putter with a plumber neck at 35 inches. Moved into 35 inch land this year for first time, been 34 forever.

Just need it to stop snowing now.

I found some of last year's balls, however couldn't pass up the buy three, get one free. I went with the new Titleist.

Damn Titleist doesn't ship until 4 weeks after ordering. I missed that on the website, if it is there. It's in my confirmation buried down at the bottom, but who the heck reads that?

I think I may have taken a look at that at Golf Galaxy.

I'm thinking I might do well to have something to fill the gap between my 3-wood and 4-iron. Do tell what you think about it.

Will do. I swung 3 clubs.....Ping, TM, and Calloway. As soon as I addressed the ball with the TM it felt good.

I carry 3 iron, 2 iron, and a 5 wood(5 wood goes same distance as 2 iron but can be played from a wide variety of lies that 2 iron cannot ) when I bought a 15th club (58 degree wedge) I just put it in the bag and didnt think twice about taking anything out. Not playing competition anytime soon.

How many wedges do you carry?

I bought some titleist velocity balls the other day. Have yet to tee one up. Low spin hard ball should give length and consistency.

Also I bought a 5 dollar used 9 iron for my sister at a local course (all proceeds go to food pantry if I remember correctly) a month ago and its Been sitting in my truck ever since. Its in decent shape. King cobra oversized head. Big cavity back. Should be easy to hit high. The other day I was cleaning the truck and I pulled out the 9 iron. Took my grip and waggled it a little. Noticed something funny. Looked like an emblem coin attached to the butt of the club. So I looked closer and saw a guys name and phone number. So I called him and as I was explaining why I was calling on the answering service, my girlfriend pulls up behind me and beeps! God bless whoever hears that message.

Titleist Velocity balls have no less spin or length than a ProV1 off of a driver. You get the same thing with none of the greenside control of a ProV1. Check out vid below.

Sure prov1 is top shelf. No disagreement there. Its a great ball but I decided to save a few bucks this time.

I have three wedges. A 54, 58, and 60. The 60 I bought recently, but haven't used it too much. I wanted to try out a lower bounce, higher lofted club thinking it would be more ideal for a flop type shot. I also liked the idea of having a 60 loft in and of itself. Generally I use the 54 for chipping and the 58 for pitching and the 60 for sand shots, and the bunkers I hit out of have some hard sand.

I use the Kirkland balls from Costco on the cheap.

You think that guy lost his club? Seems like the course should have rang him up already if that was the case.
