He pointed out some things with my swing and at times would explain why I was hitting the clubs I was hitting. They also emailed me the results.

One thing that ticked me off is that after he saw me hit my 4 and 5 irons he said he never would have put me in This combination. He suggested that I might want to adjust the clubs to, I think 2° flat? I can't remember exactly, but he said that if I get a lesson or 2 to come back and they can adjust my whole set of P790's for like $6 a club. He also asked if my intentions were to get a club to fit my swing now or if I was going to get lessons to overhaul my swing or just modify some things. I'm self taught. He said he wouldn't want me to spend a lot of money and then adjust my swing and have to buy all brand-new clubs. I told him I wasn't going to overhaul anything that I wanted something that would still work if I improve my swing. He said this would work and if we needed to make any adjustments that I could email him and he would tell me how to adjust the club if necessary. I was awfully happy with the experience here.

Last year I was fit for my irons at the end of the season and this fitting for the long game is after I've only played one round on the year. I don't know if that has to do with anything or not?

My 8.5° old Taylor made driver was:
ball speed: 138.7
launch angle: 10.2
carry: 207.7 (pretty pathetic since I hit my 4 iron 195 last weekend on the course). My club path was -12.7 and essentially the best I fared was on the driver I purchased -10.1. Obviously that's a problem that needs to work out and I think I can fix it.

Next I tried a Cobra F9, Taylormade M6, D‐Type, Hzrdus Black 63, followed by Cobra F9, Tensei Pro Orange 60, Taylormade M5, Hzrdus Black 63. Spin rate was 4500 on the low end and 5668 on the high end.

I told him about the Ping combo you suggested when I first met him. I told him ahead of time I wanted to try that so I wouldn't forget. The next club he said, "Here's what that guy on the internet recommended" in what I took to be a half smart assed way. I didn't mind. I laughed.
Ping G400 MAX, Devotion
ball speed: 142.2
launch angle: 13.0
Spin Rate; 4156
carry: 216.5

It felt better than anything else I hit so far so I was pretty happy with it.

Finally he set me up w/ the driver that I bought:

Model: Epic Flash SubZero
Loft: 9°
Setting: -1/D, weight set to full draw
Shaft: Evenflow Blue 65
Flex: 6.0
Length: 45"
Grip: Tour Velvet 360 Standard

Ball speed: 143
launch angle: 12.5
spin rate: 3083
carry: 228.5

I also purchased:

Fairway Wood
RH
Make: Callaway
Model: Epic Flash SubZero
Loft: 3+ & 5 Wood
Setting: -1/D on both
Shaft: Evenflow Blue 75
Flex: 6.0
Length: -1/2" on both
Grip: Tour Velvet 360 Standard

This was from 2 weeks ago at 9°. A day after I emailed the TaylorMade rep and he agreed that I would benefit from a lower loft. I forgot to show this data to the guy yesterday. Now I'm wondering if this club would perform better than the one I purchased if we set it to 8°? Any guesses? I emailed the fitter from yesterday to see what he thinks and if I should come out and try that setup and compare it.
I received these beauties today! Built and delivered in 7 days from Carl's!

#1 - 246y
#2 - not good
#3 - 254y

On the range I ended up moving it to the lowest setting. I do have an occasional thin or toe miss which could be death. We shall see what happens.

Cool! I've been thinking of demo-ing one of these. I only hit my driver about 260 so I am curious to see how far this will go for me.

I just signed up for Utry.com and am currently waiting on a Callaway Stroke Lab putter. Next on my list is the GAPR lo. This will be my first experience with UTRY - basically you can demo a club for 14 days for $25. If you keep it they bill you for the rest, if you send it back you're out the 25 dollars. Seems like a great way to demo a club rather than just hitting into a net at the store. Will report on my experience after I demo the putter.

Got my Stability putter shaft back in mail today finally. Week and a half and a handicap stroke higher with old putters I cannot wait to roll this baby

A high toe miss on this thing is complete death. I hit one in a tournament today and it went back in the bag and I switched to a hybrid the rest of the day. You almost have to favor he heel end of the club which brings in the "s" word into play.

OK good to know - I may try the Mid version which I'd imagine has a little more forgiveness and is somewhere between a hybrid and an iron in terms of appearance.

Oh wow. That makes me very grateful for the couple stores here that have every club you might need and let you hit it on the range for free. This sounds like a pretty cool idea though.

Grabbed a pair of the New Balance Minimus Tour shoes in white/red/black, felt really comfy and light, and I wanted to move back from my Ecco spikeless Bioms to something with spikes. The new Eccos spikeless design just seem super weird, and I've never been a big Nike or Adidas shoe fan.

Also grabbed another pair of Underarmor pants because I pretty much cannot avoid buying their stuff.

Got the new Taylormade Spider X Navy putter. Thing feels so unbelievably stable.

Also just got in Callaway Mack Daddy 4, 50 and 54 degree (10 degree bounce, whatever grind that is) raw wedges with c-taper x's.

I'm definitely keeping the 50 as is, but may bend the 54 to 55 if the gap doesn't feel comfortable. I've been using a 51/55 for a while, but 51 isn't quite enough to gap off a 46 degree stock PW these days.

That should do it for a while.

So I got the Callaway stroke lab Tuttle putter from Utry, it's pretty sweet. Great feel and I love the weight. I like the shape and the 3 alignment lines on the head also. Gonna game it this weekend and decide whether I want to keep it.

So I'm a total golf no0b who finally caught the golf obsession this year and it's been less than a month. I bought Wilson clubs on a black Friday sale at Dick's 3 years ago and just took them out of the box this year. For my level right now they are fine. I've mostly been playing par 60 executive courses near my house and have been getting out to play 9 holes about 3-4 nights a week after work (get there at 6:30 and play til the sun goes down).

For now I'm looking to get some gear for convenience moreso than improving my game starting with a cart and a bag. The cart will come first and the bag I will probably have my wife buy me in a month as a birthday present. I basically want a cart that is easy to assemble and breakdown, durable, fits most bags and has a drink holder. Looking at the 3 and 4 wheel Tour Treks. Any others that you guys love?

As for a bag looking at the Callaway Atlas which seems to have everything I need and an insulated cooler which is a plus. Also appears lightweight and lots of pocket and spaces to separate clubs. Anything else in particular to look for when shopping for a bag?

Finally always looking to add golf gear and realizing I need golf pants. Quick skim of this thread seems to go with UA as the go to. I fit pants weird so will have to go to a store and try them on. Any others you love? Did the ultimate fish move and did a shortpar4 membership for $20 with a promo (jumps to $50 next month if I stay) just to see what they send and any gear is good gear for me at this point.

Looking forward to following this forum and growing my golf obsession with you all.

Clickgear is the top of the line push cart and well worth the money IMO. I have one and it works great.

As for bags just get what works for you. No need to get a name brand.

I have UA pants as well although I rarely need pants in Florida. They double as work wear for me though.

Imo, the only cart I'd consider is a Clicgear.

They are awesome. They fold down really small (and easily) and have a ton of accessories you can get to fit whatever you want.

I'm not sure how they compare price-wise to Tour Trek, but they last forever and any wearable parts are easily replaced.

Awesome! Thanks! Any particular model? Golf Galaxy currently has $20 off so just using that as an excuse to pull the trigger. Only absolute requirement for me is a drink holder lol

And do they fit pretty much any bag? Right now I have an old skinny flimsy bag but like I said I will be upgrading in the future.

Newest one is 3.5 I think? I have a 3.0 but anyone 3.0 and above will be great. I don't think they have different models - it's just improvements on their orginal design.

A drinkholder came with the cart when I bought it - there's room for 3 more though They have a design that makes room for a lot of accessories.

And yes, they'll fit pretty much anything. Bags are secured with movable mounts with elastic bands.

Regarding pants I think the Champion C9 pants at Target are great and are 39 bucks, got them for 29 on sale.

So helpful. Thanks so much. Just to be clear this is the one you're talking about right? Gonna pull the trigger

Seems golfgalaxy doesn't like GDPR because all I get from those are

"We're sorry to say that due to the General Data Protection Regulation, visitors from your location are unable to browse our web store."

But as long as they're official Clicgears, they should be fine. Hopefully other clicgear-users who golfgalaxy deem worthy can chime in to make sure though...

Edit: It's the 3.5+ from this link: http://www.clicgear.com/pushcarts/

LFC,

your first link is the correct link. get the 3.5.
four wheel models of any manufacturer are inferior to three wheel models, imo.
three wheels are so much easier to maneuver when on the course and are actually more stable.

My Clicgear 3.5+ was great, then I let the gf take it one time last summer and she mucked it up somehow. Now when any bag sits in place, the frame depresses enough that the top of the middle tire rubs against the bag. Essentially makes it a stubborn mule to push. Honestly can't figure out a fix for it, other than somehow propping the bag up precariously to not rub which means constantly readjusting or making sure it doesn't slip off.

Bought a cheap used Sonartec 3 wood off the bay the other day, should arrive this week. Thankfully there haven't been any eBay coupons in a minute, that's cut down the rate at which I buy random clubs.
