Nice. Sometimes I wish I WAS a nit. I can't believe I have made it just over 2 years with the same set of irons.

I'm pretty frugal with club purchases, I'm still playing like 5 year old Nike Tour wedges. I may pull the trigger and treat myself to a brand new driver and 3w for the first time.

I suddenly feel better about turning over my whole bag. Grats tho.

Bought a 917f2 to see if I like it better than the 915fd.

Thanks. I've had the same set of miuras for about 7 years. They're still in incredible shape for the amount of play they've gotten, but I really need different shafts, so I figured it's time.

Wanted to spend the money to get the black heads with the black shafts, but an extra $125/club for aesthetics was too much to justify.

Nice thing about used miuras is they are pretty easy to flip at least.

I really want straight necks for my next set

I finally am up to date in driver technology. Got a Taylormade r11s driver.

It's 2012, right? I may have slept in.

Also got a basic launch monitor. At what time do I stop treating the clubhead speed reading like that game at a carnival where you try to hit the bell with a sledgehammer? Is there a standard emotional learning curve or something where I accept reality or have launch monitors destroyed more golfers than whiskey?

Decided to try and get serious about improving my game and am setting up a simulator in my basement. Bought the SkyTrak (CPO with metal case and GIP plan) and a Fiberbuilt hitting mat, but have a few final question:

1) Netting. Need something that can be removed as we use the basement every now and then for parties, etc. It seems like everyone recommends the Net Return, but it's pretty pricey. Is it worth it over something cheaper like a Rukket? Also, do I need side netting and/or something to protect my ceiling? Planning to hit from around 8 feet out. If I do need ceiling protection, are there any good options that would also be removable?

2) Balls. Figure I should pick a standard ball to use. Leaning towards the Vice balls as they are fairly cheap and reviews are good. I think I have decent club speed (a good drive for me is 250+) but am pretty bad (breaking 100 is still a good day). Does that mean that the Soft would be the better choice over the Pro.

3) Simulator. Any idea which is best? A friend has WGT and it seemed ok, but lack of local multiplayer is a big issue. E6 looks nice but seems annoying that you have to pay big $ for more than the starter courses. Leaning TGC as it has lots of courses and $800 perpetual license isn't too bad assuming I use for a good number of years.

Perfect Golf was your best option up until a month ago, now they no longer offer it because Trackman bought them (PG). TGC is your next best option, but the tour sucks, the stats suck and the guy that runs the website is a commie (straight up reads and deletes PMs from people talking about PG, deletes most content from forum that is critical).

As for a net, since you are looking at getting into sim, I would look into building a retractable cage/screen that folds/slides/lifts out of the way depending on your space. Net return with monitor is plenty fine until then.

I use kirkland (the 4 piece) balls at home. I hear the Vices crack real fast from others. I like the MG balls too, but i still have a ton of ksigs.

Visit https://www.onlinegolftour.net (PG tour) and https://golfsimulatorforum.com/ (the commie forum) for build ideas. Plenty in both.

PING G400 Max driver, 9*, Alta CB 63g XS

PING G400 3-wood, 14.5*, Project X HZRDUS Yellow 6.5 71g S

Played 18 tonight on a shorty course, only hit driver twice but hit 3w a bit more. Pretty solid.

Ordered a used blueboard from Global Golf, 40% off too tempting to pass up.

A hat and a glove. The $250 in gift cards are burning a hole in my pocket.

Really grown fond of the Under Armor Cool Switch glove. They breathe well and I have to change gloves a max of 1 time in a round. Much needed in the summer here.

Wish they lasted longer than they do though.

I don't remember who asked, but I am a 1 putter guy.

JohnnyA, I play the Vice Tour ball. It's pretty solid.

My most recent golf acquisition was that The Travelers championship in the fan Zone. I want surprises including a scorecard holder (which is super nice, since I sweat) and a golf ball style chapstick.

Went to gloveless about a month ago and its great. Was buying at least 1 glove a week and now I just have to worry about washing a towel a few times a week and having fresh water which isn't an issue. Haven't had any grip issues or hand damage.

Hitting these sooooo good. I really need to get wedges with c-tapers in them. They flight the ball perfectly. I can barely get these things off line if I try.

Are those Gen 1 or Gen 2? The Darkness ones look sooooo good. I don't think I would ever try them for fear that I would really want them. I will have to stick to my AP2s.

The gen 2 tour model. They feel as good as my miuras imo.

Hilariously the driver shaft cracked at the range last night, just above the hosel. Swung it maybe 30 times total. The fitting outfit I bought it from will warranty it.

Had a credit I had to spend today from a club return and ordered a set of 718CBs. Got "fitted" for Project X 6.5 with the Mizuno swingy thing and it felt good in the 7 iron but I'm worried it's too much shaft. Online shaft selector maybe suggests 6.0 would be better for my carry distance. Not sure if I should reconsider. Are the long irons gonna be too boardy? Also not sure if I should maybe go AP2 or T-MB in longer irons.

The Golf Town "launch monitor" was saying my smash factor was 1.45ish which is straight bull**** so I doubt the ball flight simulator was accurate in any way. Salesman doing the fitting seemed pretty incompetent too. But the shop is 90 mins away and I had to get something... Ugh.

Arrived today, in absolutely mint condition other than the adapter being hard to read. Antsy to see how it works. I can't remember the last time I tried an R flex driver outside of a demo day (and barely then). Rain in the forecast this evening though.

What's your driver clubhead speed? I'd personally rather be too stiff than too soft in irons, so erring on the side of a stiffer shaft isn't the worst thing. If anything it should help keep the dispersion a bit tighter.

I actually don't even know. 110ish I'd guess. Carry average probably 255-260 (with a 10 year old driver). The Mizuno Shaft Optimizer thing was saying my iron swing speed was 90.

The PX6.5 7 iron did feel good off the mat into the simulator screen and the dispersion was tight so I hope it works out. I'm just a little worried the 4-5 irons might be too boardy and hard to hit since I didn't actually hit those. Worst case I can probably whine that my fitting sucked and have them replaced.

I don’t think it’ll be a problem. If you swing 110 you’re plenty strong enough to load an x. Usually you’re making full swings with a 4/5 which makes them easier to load imo.
