Oh my putting is so much better because of this routine. Thank you for posting this. Unfortunatly I showed it to my dad and he has more time to practice, so his shortgame has gotten a lot better and I still cant beat him.
I'm sorry for your losses of great fun vehicles golfdoc and bonito. Nothing is more refreshing on a hot florida summer day than taking the Wrangler out to the pool or just for a ride (esp as sunset rolls in). As for beating your dad bonito, I have to brag that I beat my dad by a stroke a few days ago before I started the program, and it was by 1 stroke, and he missed two 3' putts for birdie & par (Not the same hole). Now I'm at least making him do the first step of the program before we visit family, as missing those close ones would be embarrassing in front of his brothers.

PS: sorry golfdoc if it feels like I'm hijacking the thread. I just think this program is a great one and I'm just sort of bumping it.

Those old jeeps were the best! Mine was a '79 CJ-7 with a big v-8. Loved it!

That's awesome that the putting is improving! Keep after it & you'll be beating your dad soon enough. I'm glad he's benefiting from it as well, but we've got to get you on the winning side of the bet!

No hijack at all! I'm glad so many people on here are getting some benefit from the program.

What part of FL? I had my jeep (Paul - I named it b/c I felt it needed it) when I lived in the mountains. I had a day-to-day car & the jeep for the nice days/evenings. It met its demise when I watched it pop out of gear on a slope & roll down a hill & off the side of the mountain (I was about 20 yards away and couldn't catch it in time). Fortunately, it missed the massive house being built that it almost hit, but the result when we towed it out wasn't good. RIP Paul! Cost was $1300, and it was worth every cent in fun. Later I upgraded (prior to kids) to a Land Rover Defender 90 - best vehicle I've ever owned, like a Jeep on steroids. Wish I still had it, but it wasn't practical in ATL traffic with kids.

Keep the success stories coming! I love hearing/reading them!

Was your dogs name Paul? Isnt it tradition to name them after your dog (Gen. Patton's dog was named Willie hence the old jeeps being called Willies).

I decided to sell my jeep after putting 170k miles on the stock motor & tranny. I bought a boat that was at the upper limit of it being able to tow so I figured I shouldnt stress everything any more.

I live in Northeast FL, near Jacksonville. My jeep doesn't have a person name, I just call it blue steel, as it's a nice light blue that looks cool. Speaking of going out of gear, my dad likes parking it in gear, while I like pulling the handbrake (No hills to worry bout here in NE florida!). That's one heck of a story of how to lose a Jeep, having one in the mountains sounds interesting.

Speaking of top down vehicles, my parents owned a Suzuki Samurai when we lived in Hawaii (Not something I remember, being less than a year old) and it was something my brothers and I enjoyed.

Golfdoc and bonito, how do you all feel about the 4 door Jeep wrangler unlimited? I think it's pretty ugly and silly looking.

Dont like them.

Im never getting a new jeep though. I dont like the new ones. A jeep with out a steel front bumper isnt a jeep to me. I think when I get another one it will be an old CJ that needs a lot of work.

Finally made the 25 3 footers. Did 31 before missing. Lag putting is still giving me some trouble. I think my best is 10 in a row from 20 feet.

I cant pitch to save med life, I tried today, following your post from the other thread, but result was not too good. Anyway, got the camera today, will try to film some tomorrow, Im probably doing it wrong :-(

25 in a row landing & stopping on the green from 30 yards - Tried it on a real green (practice green is way, way too small compared to a real green), got 10 in a row and moved to 50 yards, from 50 yards I was terrible.

Im using a callaway X-forged 60 degree bounce 9 fwiw.

Didnt get any video today, left camera in the car because it was raining a little. Will try to get some video tomorrow, though they have promised even more rain tomorrow...

Just want to throw some more support for the program. After doing the putting for a few days now and completing 3/4 stages (45 feet lag putting is still borderline impossible for me) I already notice differences. Today was one of my best putting days of my life, anything within 15 feet I was confident I would/could make, and I did.

Wanted to report back... Did this at the begginning of the season (the putting part) and just yesterday shot par for the first time... Thanks again for all your help on this site, hope I go UNDER tomorrow....

Been doing this for a little over a week now being down on the range every other day. Only doing the short game routine.

Today 25/25 from 3 feet first attempt, and really never close to missing. Got the 45 footers in a reasonable time as well.

Chipping no problem.

Pitching is getting better. Not really following the program there, just hitting a lot of balls trying to get good contact. My choices are either using the practice green, where I can't get much further than 35 yards out. Or going out on the par 3 course if nobody's there, but the greens there are really small.

Didn't have time for bunkershots today.

Played on a course with slick hilly greens, but managed to break 90 thanks to this program. I've never seen my short approaches fly so true and hold greens so well. It was also my first round with multiple birdies (2). The greens caused trouble and 3putts, as I am used to much slower more even ones. Thanks again golfdoc, hope to get to do iron approaches soon.

Wanted to do the pitch video, but rain came, again again, got a couple of 7i. Any chance you can comment on my generel swing, and wether or not my filming angles are correct?

Cool story - hadn't heard that about Patton! I didn't have a dog named Paul - the jeep just looked like a Paul to me.

Good job on the putts - keep after the lag putts - they will come with practice, and they'll definitely help your score!

Give me some details on what happens with your pitches, and maybe I can give you some help.

Awesome!! Love hearing those success stories! Keep after the 45 footers - you'll get them soon. Try hitting 10-20 putts looking at the target to develop a feel for rolling them the proper distance, then incorporate that into your routine - stare at the target, trace the line back, as soon as you get to the ball, pull the trigger. Try it & let me know how it works!

I love practicing on par 3 courses - we had one when I taught at Atlanta Athletic Club - small greens were great. I'd run through it every day over lunch. After a couple months, I'd be playing and get a yardage that was similar to one of the holes & I'd lick my chops - I knew if I could hit those tiny greens, I could hit a regulation green!

Great job! I'm glad the program has helped! Hitting better wedges/approaches and making more putts will definitely lower the score and help you play better on different courses. Keep me posted, and keep the success stories coming!

There's some good stuff going on with your swing - love the setup and great rhythm throughout! We definitely need to get you swinging the club more around your body - we need some "depth" in your swing so it can shallow out on the downswing. I know I've posted some drills/thoughts about getting depth in the forum, but I'm not sure off-hand where to tell you to look. Here's a way to get your arms deeper in the backswing: Take your right hand and grab your left arm at the wrist with your right thumb on top of the forearm - now pull your left arm back to the top of the backswing -you should feel your left arm more across your chest and stretching more behind you. From that position, your arms will come down more shallow and your contact will improve tremendously! I like players to feel as though your rear end is against a wall and you're trying to put your hands against that wall at the top of your swing - this will force the left arm across your chest and get your hands deeper.

If you can get the left arm to lay across the chest (if you're looking at a video or in the mirror, your arm should be across your shoulder line, not way above the shoulder as in your video here) the club will come down shallow, and you'll increase your pivot.

Better golf awaits! Let's get you some depth at the top and watch that ball striking improve!

I got the win this weekend. 88 to 89 (I had 35 puts and he had 37). My putting was poor cause I hit more GIR than usual. I did hit 11 GIR but they were massive greens and had lots of movement and speed. Being above the hole really sucked bad.

We both putted like crap but I just couldnt get the speed right the entire round.

I did sink a lot of 3-5' puts that I normally would have missed (made the first 22 3'ers on the practice green). But my lag putting was aweful. Left myself way too many 6-8' puts.

Thanks a lot for the help.

I tried to do the adjustment, also in the middle is my trying to do the exercise, not sure if I understood it correctly.

The first like 40% of your swing looks seriously very good.

Agree...then it gets all crazy! I think hitting some balls with a headcover under his right armpit would help, keep the swing more around the body. I'm sure dagolfdoc will come drop some knowledge soon.

On the drill, you have your right thumb under your forearm.
You need it on top. Your right elbow will fold better.
