I think what you're saying is in a bubble, just on Sunday, every stroke has increased value towards victory as we approach the end and less holes are available to win/move up in money,etc. That is correct.

My "gripe" is how they commentate as if the missed 5 footers and errant shots didn't have an effect or matter to the outcome on Sunday.

Maybe I should just care less? Lol.

Also, given that the formula for the OWGR values volume pretty significantly, I think it's fair to say Tiger's actually in the top 15-20 in the world at this point. In his last 10 events, he's got one MC, three top 5's (four in the top six), seven in the top 25. To put that into contrast, in Spieth's last 10 events he has three MC, two in the top five, and three top 25s. DJ in his last 10 has one MC, one win, two top 5s, eight in the top 25.

So far this year, Tiger is 11th in scoring average and 6th in strokes gained total, and in the top 6 in SG tee-to-green, around-the-green and approach-the-green. He's barely above average off the tee, though, and 56th in strokes gained putting.

Basically, his overall game is where it needs to be for him to win in any week in which his driver and/or putter gets hot.

Whether he's back or not Tiger sure moves the needle. One golf channel opinion piece saying he's a lock to be a captain's pick for the Ryder Cup and everyone's pal Brandel Chamblee saying nobody has ever wasted more talent than Tiger.
