It’s a super plausible explanation and I’m not even sure what would be next most likely.

Also, fun fact, he's swinging 5MPH faster now than he was in 2013.

If he's lying, and he choked, it's a bad sign.
How is that not admitting a weakness? Would he have to specifically use the word "choke" to satisfy you? It sounds like he's saying "I choked" to me, but with more specific words

Well, it's not as bad as blaming it on your equipment, I'll give you that.

That is a really tight OB on 16, also he's always trying to win and he was really going for a eagle there if he had a couple shot lead no way he hits a Driver. Not sure how the word "choking" even enters this conversation.

Maybe "choke" isn't appropriate in this case, but he hit a bad drive and he took responsibility for it. Saying "I didn't commit" isn't an excuse - he's saying "I ****ed up"

He hit a double cross. Notah Begay basically told the viewers it is Tiger's worst mightmare. He did it notably at 2013 Players when he got the forward drop.

That was actually very believable. And not to nit but that wasn't a snap hook just a huge double cross. Snap hook is in my avatar

my pony is slow

Yeah I agree. I blame the ridiculous sports media for the definition "choking" becoming ruined. Recently any play (or shot in this case) in any sport in the final 1/4 of a game that isn't perfect is considered a "choke".

Coming back to this as I haven't read this thread in about a week.

Maybe I am oversimplifying it, but shouldn't birdie % be the only stat to dictate the proper club selection off the tee in that situation, given that it's irrelevant whether you make par or bogey + if you're not making birdie.

You need birdie to force a playoff, thus club yielding highest birdie % is the best choice I would think...

Yes. My calc had 3w > driver > 2 iron as far as birdie chances went.

There was some talk on Golf Channel that the new shafts in his driver and 3W could make the difference in straightening out his drives, and he claims no distance loss... Guess we'll see in a couple days... Supposedly he was hitting it long and straight in his practice round today.

Seems weird that wouldn't have had the shafts dialed in prior to the other tournaments. But maybe his swing speed is so off the charts now he had to make some adjustments?

If his swing speed is the highest recorded on tour they might not have had too many appropriate shafts lying around

It's also possible that the torque he's generating has increased as he's gotten more comfortable with his back and more aggressive with his swing.

Tiger's press conference is available to stream on the Masters app. Worth watching, Tiger is always a great interview and gives honest answers. He said he's "shocked" by the club speed he's able to generate post-surgery.

my cousin just bet me his $100 to my $1000 that Chez Reavie wins the Masters.

Free money ftw.

He's freerolling since Chen isn't entered.

Interestingly enough, a ton of tour players are playing equipment that doesn't come close to fitting their swing. He was in a 65 gram shaft which is crazy light for his current move. He has moved up significantly in weight with this switch, which is good.

You can always plunk down $5 on Reavie to win as a hedge I guess. He's at 200-1 in Vegas. Hope your cousin doesn't gamble too much lol.

Chez is definitely in the field but holy cow that's free money. You should be laying 10,000 to his 100 and even then you're favored

Forgot about this thread. Well damn. Lots of “haterz” proved wrong and I was one of them. Still no slam dunk until he get a W but this is already a lot closer than I thought

Great for golf, and I don’t mind him around as a regular tour guy as long as he doesn’t hog coverage tooooo much
