I think he is New Zealands most wealthy "sportsman" with a net worth of like $20 mil, so he did pretty good for himself.

Just saw a Steve Williams interview. Sort of ripping into Tiger about it all saying he's basically "wasted the last 2 years of his life".

Don't see why he needs to air this in public.

Don't see why he needs to keep it to himself either. If he wants to air it then air it

Given that Tiger obsessively controls his PR and prefers members of his entourage to be as low key as possible, I imagine over a decade of working for Tiger has left Williams feeling spectacularly stifled. That, coupled with what appears to be a not very amicable parting probably has him wanting to blow the lid off.

I'm pretty indifferent to Williams in general but if he did a tell-all or otherwise aired some grievances Tiger should probably shoulder some of the blame for not handling this better.

He has been caddying for a long time for a ton of good players. I can't imagine he has $20M in the bank as that is a ton after taxes/expenses/partying but I bet he is very comfy.

Banana I would think with some endorsement money he made 1-1.5M a year. And I don't think it fluctuated...like I said earlier, he was salaried so that is his main comp with maybe a smallish bonus. But by far the highest paid caddie.

Well yeah if he feels like doing it then he will, doesn't mean I have to agree with it. Maybe let the dust settle and think about it all before saying something in the heat of the moment which he might later regret.

lol @ this thread. JONATHANM is clearly the frontrunner to be Tiger's new caddy.

He is a heat of the moment guy though...that is a very large part of why he was so good at directing the traffic around Tiger.

Surprising to me that he was on salary. I thought he'd get x% of Tigers winnings each and every season, which means he had some major fluctuations from 2008 through now (FedEx Cup to being on the disabled list).

Stevie was 100% right in his interview, Tiger just bails on him after the last 2 years? Weird.

How did the year of Nationwide go? I know obviously it wasn't too successful or it wouldn't have just been 1 year, but were there any memorable moments or good finishes? Did you enjoy the year on the Nationwide? How many events did the Q school process allow you to play in?

Sorry for the derail.

I think that this was an odd, but not unexpected move... nothing Tiger does anymore surprises me.

IMO, Tiger's wheels are completely and totally off right now. He went from being a guy who made all the right moves, to a guy who can't seem to pull his pants on in the morning. His collapse goes back to losing to YE Yang at the PGA (what seems like a LONG time ago). Then the surgery, then the scandal, then the start/stop come back.

I'd be sort of pissed if I were Stevie... 13 majors and dozens and dozens of tour victories with the guy, then you drop him after being completely unhinged the last two years? Sucks for Stevie and well within his rights to complain.

Williams seemed to be one of the few constants in his life, and he was a guy who always kept his mouth shut about everything.

I'd love to see Tiger get his act together again, but I'm really starting to lose hope.

Quite a few of the big names have done away with the % thing and gone flat fee. It had gotten a little ridiculous what they were paying a caddie.

I really find it odd as well.

Didn't go too well, only got in 4 events on my status and Monday Q'd into two more. Never got any momentum but had good flashes....tons of memorable moments that are scattered all over this site in my 2 main sweat threads. Here are links if you are new here....

Stevie's always seemed like a punk to me.

If he was truly getting salaried, then stfu about the last 2 years. How was it wasted when you were still getting paid? It also makes him caddying for Scott look a lot worse.

And lets not forget those few times he was trash talking Tiger. The dude needs to know his place.

He should also quit being such a bitch about it and just find some more work. If he's as good as everyone thinks he is, then he'll start making bank again soon enough. It's not like he's unemployed and has no hope of finding a good job.

Yeah if he was truly getting a salary....he basically did nothing over the last two years and still made a lot of money, right? I'd love that kind of gig.

Any examples of him trash talking about Tiger? I'd love to hear more about that as I am not quite in tune to the off-course dealings of their working relationship.

He didn't trash talk Tiger, you might be thinking of when he caught grief last year for trashing Phil

The story supposedly goes that Stevie flies to the US before the US Open with Tiger still unsure if he will play. Tiger decides not to, Adam Scott asks Stevie if he can caddy for him in a pinch. Tiger is pissed, but let's Stevie caddy for him for the Open only. Stevie then shows up at the AT&T (that Tiger hosts) as Scott's caddy. Tiger goes nuts calls him disloyal and fires Stevie on the spot.

I doubt Steve will do a tell all book. He's not some poor guy who needs to cash in by airing all of Tiger's dirty laundry. It's possible that Steve will pull a low class move and do a book but I don't expect it. Even if there is a book I especially don't think there will be any mention by Steve that he has proof or knowledge that Tiger used illegal PED's. That would harm Steve's reputation as well to have had knowledge but not reveal it.

How much could Steve make off the book and how likely would he be to get work on Tour if he did a book? Seems -EV by a huge margin. I hate Tiger as much as anyone and have for a long time but just don't see Steve revealing anything explosive.

I don't see a book as a "low class move"

Tiger is the most dominant and popular athlete of our generation, I'd love a tell-all book, it would be amazing.

Low class considering what would be in it if it was indeed "tell-all". But yea I would read it.
