I think a caddie just has to say they 100% agree with the pros read and they are good to go. Then the pro can really only blame himself when he misses.

Bones joined golfchannel/nbc as an on-course reporter.

Seems like a massive cut in pay. Maybe this is his semi-retirement job.

Explains the amicable split I guess. Bones may have just wanted to try something else after all those years caddying. Probably easier on him physically as well.

I know he won't do it but I wish Bones would talk about some of the dirt he must have on most of the players when he's reporting. I bet he has some awesome stories that no one has a clue about.

He did this for 1 event sometime in the last few years and he was really good. Nice little retirement gig for him and seems like it is way easier on the knees. I think it is a good move all around.

With Phil, perhaps without Bones he doesn't make that putt at Augusta in 2004 and loses the playoff. Then he never breaks through at a major and finishes with zero instead of five. Butterfly Effect in a way, we just don't know.
This is the easy conclusion to make, but makes no logical sense. I could easily argue that Phil could have won a major well before his first one if he had a different caddy, and could have ended up with 10 majors by now.

I said perhaps and we just don't know. And we don't.

But I'm sure your argument would make much more logical sense. And we'll also check your sarcasm detector while we're at it.

The thoughts and opinions ITT wrt a Tour Loopers worth to a particular player or his/her actual ability to perform optimally on a professional level are certainly entertaining to say the least
