minus 3 or minus 4 - i forgot - after two rounds....... looks like the leaders of the pack may be 10 under with one player at 13 under.. so MW will make the cut and has a great chance for a very high finish.

i'll just put this comment here - it surprises me that within the morning and afternoon groups the order stays the same for the 2 rounds. i.e. if you are last to tee off in the morning, you'll be last in the afternoon. doesn't seem fair to me but i guess the logistics of rain delays would be horrible. one question - is the first tee off time in the morning a bad time? obv. usually last in the afternoon is a poor time.

First off is almost always a good time. For starters, you get to play 9 holes with no other foot traffic on the greens. The only time it might be bad is if it's cold in the morning and the ball just isn't flying anywhere.

A nemesis in professional golf is crusty grass, both in the fairway and on the green. When things firm up in the afternoon the grass can get that sheen on it and you have little control. Balls land in the fairway and do crazy things. But it's terrible on the greens, instead of a smooth roll the ball literally bounces the entire way in addition to being faster. Tough to make putts when the ball is bouncing.

minus 8 thru 13th hole... 21st place....... leaders still at minus 13 so MW has a chance for a very good finish. lots of other players to pass of course.

Just took to the course; T22 at -8 through 2 today. Lead at -15. Probably needs to post -12 for a top-10. Good luck, MW

EDIT: minus 11 now...

minus 10 and tied for 11th after 8 holes. leaders are only at minus 14 although only a couple of holes in.

not sure of mike's exact situation but i would think sometimes these players a few years out of college and not having too much success just need a little good news to get the momentum going again. hopefully this is it - as i said, i don't know his situation.

anyway, let's cheer for the wind to pick up

2 off the lead and he's on 18.... he needs a birdie as there's a clubhouse leader one shot ahead of him...... some of the players still have a par 5 in hand so at this point i'd think realistically looking at top 3 or top 4 finish.... ya never know tho

Congrats, if it is like the PGA top 10 gets in the next event. Got to respect the grind going from the Long Beach Open last week to Monday qualifying(I assume) this week and finishing top 10.

It used to be top 25 gets you into next week on web.com, not sure what it is now. But am 99% sure he'll get in Springfield next week, my old stomping grounds.

Played the course when it first opened almost 30 years ago in the state amateur. Also caddied for a buddy of mine ~15 years ago in this event. Beautiful course, perfect bent grass greens, perfect zoysia fairways where the ball sits up like it's on a tee, and not a ton of rough. Scores are usually really low unless the wind blows. Have seen the cut at -6 before.

One of the 4 original stops still left on the tour formerly known as the Hogan Tour.

Good luck stads!

2 under after 5 holes... kid is a machine, i tell ya ..... still round 1 due to weather delays both days.

didn't get much done in round 2 given all the weather delays but he did birdie the 18th of round 2. minus 5

i didn't see the cutline but i assume he's inside it with T40... only 5 strokes behind the 8 players tied for lead at minus 10.... obv. you need to do very very well on sat/sunday to win with such a crowded leaderboard.

blows me away how they can get back up to schedule given all the delays. must have been a very early morning for MW today.

i spoke too soon... i thought MW was close to closing the action in round 2 but it turns out he was "morning group" so there are still tons of players still on the course.

minus 12 leads now. 10 players at minus 10. lots of round 2 golf left... i think MW will still be fine in regards to the cut but not sure.

not sure if they lengthened it for the tourney, but it looks like the gold tees are 74.4/133 at 7115 yds playing par 72.
https://www.highlandsprings.com/Golf/The_Course.aspx

just a tad bit different than Quail Hollow playing ~7,600 at par 71.
