Lol at hating on running

Not like golfers need strong legs or benefit from being in good shape and maintaining stamina throughout a tournament

Agreed, especially in college where the tournaments typically included a 36 hole day. I am certainly not hating on running. Offseason/summer...I'm all for it. I just think that (at least in my wife's case) she had way too much on her plate to be expected to be in top form. Hell, she plays like once every 6 months now because it sucked so bad.

As for instilling discipline...I get that. There were definitely some people on her school's guy's team who needed to be there at 6 a.m. They also didn't "go to class".

nice feature on cal just after 1130 am west coast time on golf channel. giving time as they may do 6 hour block or something

3 cal players in USO.... apparently arguably the best ncaa golf team year ever, althoni think they didn't win team title

IMHO they did win the team title...stroke play is all that matters in golf, match play blows.

Just curious -- if PGA Golfers had to carry their own bags and walk, how detrimental do you think it'd be for the avg TOUR pro?

Not really at all probably. Most would go down to a super lightweight bag

That'd be cool to see if they could still use a caddy. Their caddy just walking alongside them empty handed out for a stroll.

Weaver with a great putt on the coverage.

Even through 4 (though playing the back first)

A) There's 156 players hitting off of that.
B) It's not even an actual range, it's holes on the other course at Merion. Notice the bunker.

Caught Michael walking between the 11th green and 12th tee today and wished him luck. Probably shouldn't have said anything as I hadn't realized he bogeyed and I can only imagine what was going through his head at that point. He did look up when I called him 'stadler' though and we later saw him hit a great wedge on the 13th and make the birdie putt before heading off to see Tiger's group. Hopefully there's more good play ahead!

Re: the range pic:

I am so amazed by the ability of high-level players to consistently take the same sized divot, pointing in the same direction, taking the same amount of sod out of the turf, almost every single time. I counteract my 6'7 megawide swing arc by hitting the ball at a pretty significant downward angle and I take a lot of sod with each divot, so I try really hard to respect the range turf by trying to minimize my carnage and just make one medium-sized patch of torn up turf. But it never looks as clean as what you see on the pro range. Not even close.

Or a push cart. Doubt the majority of them would carry it, definitely not the older guys.

+1 thru 7, not a bad start for Stadler. Needs to play the next 3 or 4 holes well, as they are some of the easier holes out there.

He's in the traditional pairing of:

Am Champ
Open Champ
US Open Champ

So he's playing with Els and Simpson in the PM/AM wave

Anyone think +8 makes the cut?

Last edited by POKEROMGLOL; 06-14-2013 at 03:26 PM. Reason: +8 rather

yea, he's good like 90% of the time.

edit: looks like he bogeyed 18. I still think hes got a chance at +8. Probably a little better than 50/50.

I think +8 is gonna be good prob 90% of the time. Guys are gonna struggle this afternoon.

Excellent playing Stads. 74-74 is very solid and impressive for a first US Open appearance.
