How many rounds are there? What is the match play format? That site blows at giving any info.

The match play format is an awesome amendment to the normal stroke play structure too.

glad they lossed the playoff and not because I have anything against you or A&M. They ended up in the playoff bc of a slow play penalty and it ends up costing them big time but glad to see the ncaa had the stones to do something the Tour never does. i watched all the coverage and it was ridiculous to watch these kids taking 6 and 7 practice swings!

yea man not like it was the most pressure-packed moment of their lives up until that point and there was no one behind them

I'm curious what you guys think of the 5-man Match Play format - particularly how it translates in variance.

Do you consider this format to add more or less variance to the eventual winner?

I think the matchplay is a stupid idea.

I like the match play format. Doesn't always produce the best team as the champion buts adds more excitement IMO.

I'd say it adds variance, just going off the one I attended. OSU had a stacked team lead by Fowler, Uihlein, and Tway. They got beat in the first round. As Pgjcbsn said, it does add excitement. In addition to Burgoons shot to win it for A&M, a kid for Michigan Lion Kim, stuck his 2nd shot on 17 to like 2 feet to advance to the semi's. Some really fantastic stuff.

Cal wins in the first match. Looks like Stads is still struggling as he lost. Hopefully he gets it back on track!
