Played Lionhead Masters course today. It was in very nice shape for this time of year. The greens had been cut and they were rolling a decent speed.

Played Osprey Valley in a Tornado, it was lots of fun.

Par 3 11th - 150 or so, really nice hole.

Par 3 14 - I stuck it to like 3 feet and made the birdie.

He pulled it in the bunker and lost a skin

Slopiest practice green in the wurrl

Sick thread. Wish I took more pictures of cool golf courses I've played. Sadly, most of the courses are in Minnesota and don't compare to other cool courses around the world.

It was originally supposed to rain yesterday in my area, so I cancelled my tee-time. Then just before going to bed Saturday night I checked the forecast and all was good for the morning, so I went to heaven (aka osprey valley).

I woke up to this

Then this was my first tee shot of the day

I hit a massive drive by my standards on this par 5, 270 down the pipe. Did not make birdie. It's a really fun hole; the lay-up second shot from the fairway is played to either the elevated fairway above the bunkers in the middle, or you can go right to a second fairway. I went right at the pin and pulled my shot a little.

A nice par 3 on the back-nine

As mentioned in the Misc thread, I played Muskoka Bay Golf club today. I can say without a doubt that it was the most enjoyable golf experience I have ever had. What an absolutely phenomenal golf course. It was tough but fair and in unreal condition. The greens are up there as some of the best I have stepped foot on.

I shot 86 from the blue tees, approx 6500 yards and was pretty happy with the score. I was all over the place off the tee and blasted some putts right off the green, but I hit some nice approach shots on a few holes and some good chips.

2 Pools on the deck of the club house overlooking the course, no big deal.

First tee from blues

Looking back at the clubhouse

Nice view from somewhere on the front nine.

#9 was a tough hole, and maybe the only questionable hole on the course imo

Pretty challenging par 3 #17

Looking back at 18

Took this last week at a local course going to the 18th tee box. I love that willow tree, its on the 6th hole and you gotta get over it for an awesome shot. Took this with cell phone.

A couple of courses I have played recently:

Black Bear Ridge - one of the best layouts and best conditioned courses I have ever played.

Glencairn - a little taste of inland links

Some photos from the 2010 Pro Am in Adare, forgot about these, was pretty cool because it wasn't a proper tournament you could bring cameras and talk to the players.

I happened to be golfing very close to a course that was holding the Men's Canadian Mid-Am Finals today, so I stopped by afterwards to check out the track and the competition. Rob Couture won the championship with a -6 (the guy in pink) and played very solid for the 9 holes I witnessed. The track was Coppinwood, and I believe it may be Fazio's first ever course in Canada, but don't quote me on that. It was a spectactular course none the less.

His caddie (and wife) was very pretty.

His playing competitor was the spitting image of Steve Marino and probably had the biggest calves I have ever seen on a human being.

Me and a buddy make the 2.5 hour trek up north last weekend to play Cobble Beach. Designed by canadian architect Doug Carrick who has designed some of the finest courses in the country lately. We got a play and stay package for a really good deal, however, we realized when we got there that they were smack-dab in the middle of full fall maintenance. The greens were still pretty quick, but the morning dew made the top-dressing stick to our balls, and it was quite annoying.

The course itself was nice. It was sort of a links course, but not really. It definitely isn't Carrick's best work, but it was still very good. The views of Georgian Bay were unreal. Here's a few pics.

Beautiful Par 3 on the back nine.

Darren and I on a beautiful par 5 overlooking Georgian Bay

Very nice par 3. My first time around I landed my ball 1 foot short of the pin exactly in line with the hole, it jumped straight left and ran out 10 feet or so and I missed the birdie

This one made me laugh. For those of you who don't know, "chi-chi mon" is a jamaican slang for a gay guy, I wonder if Carrick knew this.

As I mentioned in the Misc thread, a few friends and I snuck to Pinehurst for a few days last week. We absolutely robbed the package place, paying $202 for 3 nights hotel and 3 rounds on days that wound up being in the mid-upper 60's temperature wise each day. I don't have any photos from our second course, Anderson Creek as none of us liked it. But first we played Tot Hill Farm. Awesome course. Some photos:

Our final round was at Tobacco Road. I personally preferred Tot Hill to this, but both were great. A couple on Tobacco felt a little too gimmicky to me, giving Tot the nod. The visuals though are great, and the course was in unbelievable shape for December

Tee shot at #1. It's a little over 200 to clear the right mound, and about 260 over the left to get back to the fairway on the other side.

Another look at #1 from different tee

Had to go through another chute or over more mounds to #1 green

#2

#3 Green. Yes, you drove carts in the waste areas

#5 From tee uphill. One guy went for it and was just short on the front

Me watching a tee shot on #12. Only fairway I missed all round

I was in Belek, Turkey with a couple of friends for a week this September and it was really incredible.

There are a ton (well 15-20 at least) golf courses very close to each other and a the whole area is really only targeting golf tourism and doing it very well.

Resort we stayed at had a 27 hole course designed by Nick Faldo:

Close by was Sueno Golf Club with two 18-hole courses, Pines and Dunes:

Both courses end up with island-like greens on hole 18 which are right outside the restaurant terrace, so you'll have an audience as you hit the ball into the water:

But the definitive highlight was Lykia Links, which is Turkeys only links-course - the day we played there wasn't much wind so it played quite easy with big, wide fairways:

Not your typical golf pic, but this is taken while snowboarding with my buddy this weekend.

We found it here

On the back side of the mountain, there's a trail to ride and this Pinnacle Gold was sitting on a rock.

The ironic part, is that this is 10,000 feet above sea level and before the weekend a storm hammered the mountain and dumped 6 feet of snow and 100 MPH winds at the top of the mountain for 3 days. How this golf ball stayed on a rock is amazing. Someone must have been driving balls from the top of the mountain when there was no snow.

If that doesn't make you want to use Pinnacle Gold than I don't know what will.

Oh yea, it's still in mint condition just a little faded.
