Doubtful. Rumours are DJ and Smith got around 120M. LIV isn't offering Will more than them.

Some friends of mine were at the LIV event today. I’ll get a trip report from them when they get back.

Seems like a no-brainer to attend if already in the area. Great chance to see some of the best golfers on the planet up close.

The course sure looks gorgeous. The PGA events course looks to be in terrible condition for a PGA event

it sure seems the primary reason for liv existence still remains to be as a mechanism for sifting the sand from the bunkers of trump golf properties to his campaign coffer.

not going to lie that play off felt painful to watch just wanted it to be over I think the same hole over and hole is a bit meh. I enjoyed the overall tournament though 1 thing I wished they stopped on LIV is the sound effects from the ball going in the hole, it actually kind of tilts me

Yeah I agree I watched a good portion yesterday only as wll . As well I am not a fan of the shotgun start .

I could see the Team thing being successful on the PGA in the likes of selling merchandise. Not sure if LIV is capitalizing on that

Overall I feel like LIV has a lot of good ideas. The team thing could be cool, but like everything else, their execution is absolutely horrific. There is no reason to care about their teams. They aren't even real teams, they just shuffle players around with no rhyme or reason. The logos and names are ret*rded. I think all of their marketing work is done by a 12 year from somewhere in the third world they found on Fiverr.

Even all of this crap could be survivable if they were making adjustments, bringing in some firms to help with the marketing, and on a path to getting it figured out. As of last week they hadn't even fixed the grammar on that crazy survey to figure out which team you should root for. Their plane is heading straight for a mountain, they are getting closer and closer, and they haven't even thought about trying to pull up yet.

I dont mind most of the team names but you run out of ideas I guess. I like the fact they were team shirts and hats but I checked the only merchandise available is 5 LIV hats nothing related to the teams.
I think they are dropping the ball on that .

I tend to agree with you the plane is heading for a mountain

All of these things are, of course, true. I think there is the very real issue that other than a handful of edgelords on Twitter there really isn't any enthusiasm at all. It's a complete nothing burger. Some of that is the stuff you described but a lot of it is that there really aren't more than a handful of players that anyone cares about.

I think there is also a HUGE disconnect in saying that we are "Golf But Louder" and going to attract young eyeballs and amongst their top 10 stars are Lee Westwood and Grame McDowell and Poultie. Nothing attracts Zoomer eyeballs like a bunch of washed up almost weres.

And lastly their public faces on SM are an utter embarrassment with their behavior. Either you wholly embrace their god awful product or you are "corrupt golf media". It's embarrassing and I think they thought they could use the Trump playbook and everyone would rally around them. Instead they are destined for never reaching any level of relevance or market consciousness.

Putting Greggy at the helm doomed this thing from the start IMO

teeing off on 9 towards the clubhouse, just finished a long loop of holes out in the desert.

no surprise he needed to pee and did, we all should stay as hydrated out there.
it's more about the ease of him doing it because he thought nobody was around to witness.
tv camera proves him wrong

Mito Pereira falls out of the all important top 50 during this week's updated OWGR (50th to 53rd). Talor Gooch falls to 50th and should fall out with next week's update

Wild. I know it's easy to say you won't take the money when it's not offered (a la me sitting here), but I personally can't imagine giving up playing the Masters to go from rich to really rich :-/

Although IIRC Gooch seems to have actually believed Norman that he could do LIV and play PGAT/Majors (ie they would get world ranking points)

Regarding next months Masters, Gooch is in based on being in the top 50 on 12/31/22. Mito is in based on being T-4 or better in the 2022 PGAC and he also was in the top 50 on 12/31/22.

Falling out of the top 50 this month may hurt them for this year's USO and BO and will absolutely cripple their chances in playing in next year's majors (barring sun running in any majors they participate in this year).
