Heard on the NLU podcast that the Liv reportedly pays all caddy expenses and also pays their 10% prize. So whoever is Charl Schwarzel's caddy just made $400k for carrying his bag for 3 rounds, and it didn't even come out of Charl's winnings.

Forget the players, how long until Bones and Greller jump ship? The Official ALL THINGS LIV GOLF thread

Oosty drafted well, his 3 picks finished 1,2,3.

Peter Uihlein (casual golf fans go who is that?) collects 1.65 million by my count for a T3 individual and 2nd place team finish.

I think Phil shot his self believed IQ.

My question now is, with at least Bryson and Reed playing in Portland, which players from this event get left out? I’d be curious to know the methodology going forward on who gets guaranteed spots and who gets the shaft.
that's the beauty of the short term. some tards are going to jump ship to LIV and then in short order be pushed off the LIV ship and be left with teaching golf at $50 an hour.

Yep, and Cam Smith won the Players Championship and took home $3.6 million. I don't see how these guys can say no to that sweet Saudi money.

Ironically that's the same as that the winner at this week's RBC will make.

Liv is looking to break the PGA with a shock and awe barrage of money. I think it likely works.

One interesting thing is, what happens to all these nobodies who signed up first, when a bunch of top-ranked players join Liv? Assuming fields are still capped at 48, guys like Uihlein and du Plessis (made a cool $2.1 million for 2nd place) may be left hanging out to dry with nowhere to play.

Edit: slow pony, I see this was mentioned already

They need to invest well.

Though the European Tour has not banned the players yet.

I am curious what happens with world golf rankings as if you have won a major before yes you will qualify but someone like Na if he gets no WGR how does he qualify for majors a year or two down the road

Fatrick and Pat Perez to LIV. The scales suddenly tipped violently toward Saudi Arabia.

Hot take: LIV merges with PGA Tour because the PGA tour can handle the administrative stuff way better. Saudis stop killing people.

I've no issue with the guys like Matt Jones who are admitting they are doing it for the money and the fact they can be with their families many more weeks during the year. I'm not saying I agree with their decision, but at least they aren't being two-faced pricks about it.

Everybody has a price.

This is pretty standard in sports though. How often do players from other sports say they love the teams, city, fans etc during the season just to take the bag and sign somewhere else once the season is over. It's part of the negotiations.

I'll assume all the Americans itt outraged at the golfers taking "Saudi $" won't be voting Biden or are equally as outraged.

It is standard in other sports, but then again golf is the only sport where players actually call penalties on themselves. As a professional, I hold myself to a much higher standard than those in other sports as do the vast majority of fellow pros. I think most viewers feel the same. When a golfer gets arrested for example it’s a mind blowing event whereas it’s commonplace across many sports.

Perhaps I’m simply disappointed in fellow professionals being total two faced dickbags.

Lol because it's the rules of the sport and agreed upon, by failing to comply you lose or don't get to play. It's not part of the rules in other sports so why would they, hockey players try to take opposing players heads off during the game but shake hands and go for beers after.

One of the things I love about golf is you earn your paycheck. You shoot the best score you win, doesn't matter what a coach or anyone else thinks about you. But I also understand why players would want to explore their options and don't fault anyone for taking more money. Why would any player admit to leaving the tour back in Feb?

If anyone shoots 54 they will win $54M.

They should do a round with a super easy setup to try to make this happen.

now we need ANGC to drop the hammer. the Athletic said a statement from them could be coming sooner rather than later. would be sweet for the suits at ANGC to drop the hammer on anyone that tees it up for a LIV event announcing that such players aren't welcome and won't be eligible for invites to the Masters in the future (to include past champions).
freakanomics did a whole pod about liv and said that broadcasters are scared of picking it up out of fear the pga won't sell to them in the future as punishment
